Just Got Back From Wdw This Past Weekend- The Expidition Everest Attraction Is Now Open For Preview Riding- We Rode The Coaster Yesterday, 2/6/06. It Was Awesome - Cast Members Say It "unofficially" Opened The Weekend Before Last. The Official Opening Is In April - They Said They Will Try To Keep It Open Every Day - But This Can Change On Any Given Day - If You Go To Disney - Check It Out - It Is A Great Coaster - Wait On Line Was Only About 20 Min W/o Fast Pass - They Allowed Us To Do Switching Off Because We Have Small Kids Too!

2 of us are confirmed roller coaster maniacs and 2 of us are very tentative. Can anyone give me some comparison w/other "thrill" rides @ WDW? For example, how does it rate speed, movements w/Test Track? Aerosmith Rock & Roller Coaster? Or even Goofy's Barnstormer?! :rotfl:

:cool1:

And this was for anyone, right?

How cool - I am going to be able to go!!!!!!!!! Woohoooo - perfectly timed business trip at the end of this month!!!!

Can someone tell me which park it is in, and where and then I'd also love a little explanation about the coaster and what it compares to, thanks!!!! :thumbsup2

I rode it a few times on Sunday while we were in AK. I thought it was great. I do not think it is as "scary" as RNR, as it doesn't have the loops. Best I can compare it to is think like its an extremely pumped up version of thunder mountain with a bit of a surprise twist in there.... :thumbsup2. Kids will love it too, I think the height was 44'. Great que theme-ing.

All the reviews have said it is somewhere between Big Thunder Mountain and Rock & Roller Coaster. I don't like traditional coasters, but I've enjoyed everything I've tried at WDW, so I'm planning on trying EE in March!

I rode it twice on 2/5 near the end of the day. The posted Standby wait time was 30 minutes and I was on in 17 minutes. My second ride wait was only 10 minutes! I too think it's similar to a souped up BMTR, but not rattle-your-bones. There are no huge drops, but lots of fast curves, a riding backwards section (in the dark, if that matters), and generally smooth ride. It's excellent!

It's not as intense as rock & roller, but way more intense than Barnstormer.

Animal Kingdom It compares to Big Thunder Mountain meets Test track. If you could handle doing the outside portion of Test track in the dark and backwards, then you can handle Expedition Everest! The big drop is deceiving. It looks worse than it is.

I rode it the past 3 weekends. It's awesome!!!!!

We just rode it a few days ago and loved it !!! I didn't find it that "intense" at all, nor did my kids, we found it to be a lot of fun and not too scary at all :thumbsup2

What ride is Exhibition Everest? :rotfl: :rotfl:

Exhibition Everest?

I rode EE during the DVC/AP preview and it was great.

this ride "Exhibition" just sounds kinda of creepy for WDW.

I love run on sentences - we rode Expedition Everest twice on Saturday at Animal Kingdom where it was open to anyone and it was not crowded at all and we walked right onto it twice around 10AM with no line at all and the theming of the queue area is really great and the coaster is fantastic - I am not a coaster person and I thought it was the best - even better than Test Track which is my favorite ride and much better than BTMR.

I can't believe I wrote that with no punctuation. I love run on sentences.

Expedition Everest is fantastic. Hope veryone gets a chance to experience it!

just curious - I'm not a "coaster fan" - so to speak however, I absolutely loved Revenge of the Mummy at Universal! for those of you who have experienced EE, would you say it's compatible with this ride? part of me would love to try it and part of me is terrified!! I leave on Saturday for the world ....

It is VERY comparable to Revenge of the Mummy, it does go backwards for a longer period of time, but it has about the same thrill level.

This billboard is also popping up on I-4 now. There is no "coming soon" on them.

 :woohoo: :bounce: My DH will be so happy to hear that he may be able to go ride this afterall. He looked it up and was excited to go on then we heard that it was only opening in April. Why do they have unofficial and official opening days? :confused3 It just confuses people.

I rode it twice on Saturday! It was AWESOME!! Nice smooth, ride and dark and scary! I loved it! :thumbsup2

I had hoped it would be open for our upcoming trip in a couple of weeks! A quick question . . . is fastpass up and running also? I know sometimes when they have "soft openings" of rides they don't utilize fastpass. Is this the case, or can you get a fastpass for EE?

After reading this we are thinking about going next Monday before peak season begin. Hopefully it will be running. :thumbsup2

The Expedition Everest billboard another poster had pictured is also up in the Tampa area on I-4 or one of the interstates in downtown area. I mentioned to my wife when I saw it that it didn't say "Opening in April" or anything like that, so I guess Disney wants people to get to AK and try it out. I would hate to see the billboard in Tampa, drive to AK thinking EE was open and then be told "Well, it's sort of open but not today".
