I noticed something yesterday while working out on the ellipictal. I have been using it for about a week now, and I could go for about 15 mins and then my legs would just "give out". To the point whrere I could not even stand on them.

Yesterday, I took a bottle of water with me and put it in the cup holder on the machine. When I felt my legs getting "weak" about every 10 mins or so, I would guzzle some.

I truely believe that doing this really enabled me to "push" myself, I was able to stay on that machine over 30 mins. This is double what I have been able to do. I think the reason my legs were getting so "weak" was because I would get dehydrated and the water gave me that instant "boost".

I realize that this might be obvious to most..but I have never had any formal workout training (ie..trainer). I am learning this stuff as I go, through trial, error, and WISH. I figured if I could help one other person..I would pass it on!

Thanks for posting. I also learned the hard way about the need for extra water when you exercise. Until I figured it out, I couldn't understand why sometimes I felt faint as I didn't think I was working all that hard, LOL!

Now I try to drink a glass before I start and one after I finish, too. Sometimes, I need to sip a little during the exercise, too. No problems now!

That's good to know. I didn't realize that water could give you that little extra you need.

Tracy, CONGRATULATIONS on doubling your time! That is awesome! :) How much water do you drink before you work out? I usually have hot tea in the morning with breakfast and don't really drink water until lunch, but I have noticed that I get fatigued when I rollerblade in the morning. I started drinking a glass of water before I rollerblade and it has helped me through my workout. You are on to something there!!! :) I might have some water with my tea at breakfast and then still have my other glass of water before rollerblading.

I'm so happy you figured out a way to get past that 15 minute mark. 30 minutes is GREAT!!! I bet you are feeling so proud of yourself!!!!!!!!!

Karen...I started making sure I drank at least 8-10oz BEFORE I worked out...especailly before skating outside...but for some reason...I did not have any stamina on the ellipitical, but drinking some water while working really seemed to help my stamina.

You've proved what everyone in the gym has been saying to me and that it is very important to keep yourself properly hydrated whilst exercising.

Okay Tracy come clean. Did you stop inorder to drink the water? If not I'm really uncoridinated. I can get is a sip here and there but I've almost fallen off that darned thing trying to really drink. I too had heard that drinking during would help but without a really long straw I'll be stopping for my drinks. Either that or tipping my head back to drink does it, Yah that's it.

Christy...I swear...I don't stop...I just hold on to the stationary part of the bar and squeeze the water down. Its not the prettiest sight in the world..but I am afraid to stop..I am not sure if I could get going again...LOL

Christy,
Try using a water bottle with a sports bottle top. I typically drink 1-2 bottles of water while I do the WATP tapes. Sometimes I have to put both weights in 1 hand, but I can finish without being too wet.... from the water bottle. ;)

now I get it. I tried it and I didn't fall off!!! HAHAHa I am such a clutz. My Dh is still laughing at me will I do the WATP tape but I got him back I stuck that belt on him and made him try while I stood there and watched. He decided that he'd just go in the other room after that. I know that it can't look pretty but.. I'm trying.
Geetey I've tried those bottles and I make a mess my aunt is the opposite she has to have one of the sport tops Last vacation I gave her on of the boys sippy that has the suck sport top. I also found a smaller bottle helps, although as time increases I'll have to have a back up one.
Tracy I can always count on you for the answers! Now if only you were closer. :D
Thank you
