It's that time again!!!

Are you exercising? Do you want to exercise but lack motivation? Looking for some new ideas? Have you increased the amount of time you exercise since you started? Have you added new forms of movement to your lifestyle? For those of you who thought exercise was a 4-letter word, have you changed your mind? Tell us! We want to know! Share your tips, experiences, desires, successes, etc. with everyone!

I started out power walking when I joined WISH. Thanks to some very motivational posts I read here, I dusted off my pilates tapes and have added them to my workout! WOW! Do I love them or what? I feel awesome after a pilates session and I can really feel a big difference in my posture and my abs (and even my butt is getting a lift back to where it belongs!)

I can not say enough great things about pilates! I even read an article in Muscle and Fitness HERS about some ab exercises that are similar to the pilates moves I do - these exercieses target that "pouch" that I have read some WISHers talk about (lower part of the belly) and work some inner, harder to reach with just crunches muscles. If I can find a link to the article, I will post it. If I can't, just look for the May/June issue of M&F HERS and get it! The article is GREAT and the author is living proof that the exercises outlined will work that pouch area and help diminish the size/get rid of it!!! (with proper exercise and healthy eating habits). Page 32, "Beyond the Crunch". :) (just looked and there is no info on their site about this article, so head to the store to find the magazine!) :)

Thanks to some coaxing from ohMom, I am using my hand weights to work a different body part every day. She even reminded me to include push ups to work my chest and triceps, bless her heart!!! So no excuses, I have the time and energy, so I am faithfully lifting my weights again!

Also, it's very warm here and I love this type of weather. I dusted my rollerblades off!!! I am rollerblading several mornings a week now for about 40 minutes and hope to increase my time. I need to learn how to stop in those things instead of coasting to a stop! ;)

So my workout routine has blossomed and I am power walking almost every day, rollerblading almost every day, doing pilates almost every day and weight-training almost every day! WOW! I love it! This is a huge change for me, but a schedule I plan to stick to for the rest of my life! :)

Who's next? :)

Wow Karen, what an inspiration you are!!! With all of that exercise you are going to just melt away my friend. I would love to try roller blading, but I have never found anyone who has a pair in my size. I love to roller skate, but hate ice skating, so I am not sure if they would be for me, but I sure would like to try.

My normal exercise is 40 minutes of cardio (usually elliptical and Life Cycle) 3 days a week and then free weights only for my biceps and triceps 3 days a week. However, this week I have begun a new free weight program with a partner and we are going to work all of the muscles! I think until I get used to that I will cut back on my cardio just a little. In addition to that I walk as much as possible, some days it is only a mile some days a little more.

Next.....

Thanks for posting this - especially the info about the "belly pouch". I would like to get rid of mine and even though I'm losing weight and exercising, I can't get rid of it. (I think the Bloat Fairy has an evil twin sister who goes around collecting lost fat. Believe she uses those pouches for storage. Mine is better than a lock box at Fort Knox)! Anyway, I think I'll walk over to the library and check it out - they actually have that one!

My usual exercise is Curves - either 3 or 4 times a week. Sometimes I make it 5 times. I also joined a walking program that included a pedometer and I try to get in 10, 000 steps everyday. That's about 5 miles. Definitely feel better when I'm exercising on a regualr basis so it's getting easier to keep at it.

Thanks again for the M&F reference.

TIGH thanks for the pouch info...I will keep my eyes open for the DVD...which Pilates????

OK, I have been doing well on the exercise...

I go to the Y and do the Nautilus everyother day.
I take the girls to family swim atleast 2 a week.
I do 200 to 300 crunches a day
I do my hand weights atleast twice a week
and have been walking 3-4 miles a day :) :)

I am desparate to loose the last few :)

My turn! :)

I have been doing the WATP tapes 5-6 times a week, walking 2 or 3 miles each time. When I do the 2 mile now, I use some 3 pound hand weights instead the water weights. I guess I need some leg weights too! Isn't that what you use, Glo?

I do the pilates tape in the evenings as motivated. Just the 20 minute one though! My body is still too 'round' to be able to move like they do in the 50 minute one!

I really want to start adding some weight training (just at home) but I haven't figured out how to start. One of those things I need to research, I suppose! :)

Like I posted earlier - decided to take up running again and managed a whole 800m before I raced for home and a hot bath.

Darling Zach decided to make it a race home, so I had to keep up or he'd have been sprinting across the main road on his own - eeek!

Had a nice bath tho and then dinner so I have fuly recovered ready for another 2 laps tomorrow.
