Exercise and better health

I wondered if anyone here has any personal experience of being healthier by exercising regularly. I walk every day for about 20 minutes. I try to walk as much as I can at work. But I'm always coming down with a cold or a stomach virus and I am prone to migraines. I work with a woman who powerwalks every day and never gets sick. Does anyone here have any experience with increasing their exercise regime and not getting sick as often? It sounds like one would lead to the other but I'd like to hear from people if it actually did work for you. Maybe some of us just are more prone to illness?
Thanks-

Yes, definitely. When I'm exercising regularly, I rarely get sick, my blood pressure stays very normal, and I feel more energized. And it keeps me motivated to eat healthier.

Are the 20 minutes of walking getting your heart rate up? Are you breaking a sweat? Aerobic exercise and healthier eating are key to better health. Google some heart rate calculators and see what your heart rate ranges should be during exercise. You don't want to under-exert nor over-exert yourself. If the 20 minutes of walking isn't causing you to breathe a little harder nor get your heart rate up to the beneficial range, then you may want to increase your time or speed of walking.

I agree, I don't think that 20 mins is enough to really make a difference. Most experts say at least 30 mins of moderate walking. Moderate walking will incease your breathing and heart rate but not make you totally winded.

I've been doing some movement for quite some time now. I can say I feel better, but I'm thinking that it has been going along with the fact that as I try to do this, I also try to make healthier eating choices.

I think mine is a combination maybe?
