Excuse me, you'll need to see security. What has Mickeystoontown done? Update 3/25x2

All caught up! :wave2: Great start to your TR. Really enjoying it so far and your excitement is contagious. I'm pretty sure that I stayed in Barbados when we stayed there and I loved it. I loved that pathway, the solitude, and that quiet pool. Such a great resort. Wish I could get back there. Darn DVC points. :rotfl2:

Welcome home! I can't wait to see and hear all about your latest trip to WDW. The winding pathways and wooded areas are what make the CBR special to us. Yea......darn DVC points.....keeping you away. :rotfl:

:rotfl2: Just another example of how the size of CBR is blown out of proportion on the web.

Exactly! I could probably make it all the way around the entire resort in less time that some people say it takes them to make it from their room to OPR.

Great update and photos, I am determined to stay caught up this time around!

We were in Barbados in 2006 for our first stay at CBR and we loved that section. I love it that you timed your walk because I think Barbados 11 is about the furthest out standard section now that the pirate rooms have taken over Trinidad South. Just the other day I read on Tripadvisor somebody saying they had to walk a half hour to the food court. They must have really gotten lost on those winding paths!

I have never seen Wall E either!;)

I actually really enjoyed Barbados. It was nice and quiet and the wooded are made it feel more seclued.

Joining in as we just got back from Myrtle Beach and will be heading to CBR June 2013

Hey there! How was Myrtle Beach? I can't remember.....when in June are you going to be at the CBR?

The pics of CBR make me so happy that we decided to stay there in August! The newness and cuteness of AoA was really calling me, but it seems so "loud" in all the pictures. My DH is not a crowd person and I think the quietness of CBR is exactly what he will need to make this trip enjoyable for him, too. I foresee our family spending some quality wind-down time at the end of the day, lying in hammocks or sitting on one of the quiet benches. Ack! Can't wait!

p.s. I check this site no less than 4 times a day looking for new segments of your TR. I am hooked! LOL!

Fantastic! I think that you'll love teh CBR. We like to get away from the crowds once we are back at the resort and the CBR is perfect for that. It has a few Disney touches but they are not in your face. We've spent many an evening in the hammocks just talking about the day or resting our tired feet.

I should get another update posted tomorrow.

Great update! Don't worry I haven't seen WallE either!:rotfl2:

I had tried to watch WallE before but always got sidetracked.:confused3

love the update. I haven't stayed at CBR or even visited there. It is now on my list of resorts to tour. looking forward to another update soon.

You really should take the time to tour the resort. I know that several of my fellow Disers have gone over for a visit and have decided to stay there on future trips.

Great update, Lisa. CBR really is a pretty resort -- love the lush plants, etc.

Andy was in Barbados when he stayed there three years ago and he thought it was a very nice walk to the main building.

I thought I remembered Andy and his team staying in Barbados. I was glad that we were in a section we hadn't stayed in before.

I saw there were 14 pages and I thought I might be able to catch up!! Thankfully it was a lot of commetnign going on so I was able to get caught up pretty quickly!! :woohoo:

Thoughts on the posts!! The Elvis tree is amazing! I am definitely looking for that one the next time I go to Monroe!

The wavy roads are so bad but the pot holes within the city are terrible!! I have already had front end work done twice on my car and I have only had it a little over a year!! At least I-20 is paved pretty well! We joke that we have our own personal Test Track and if pregnant ladies can survive the streets of Jackson then they can definitely ride TT!!

The snake sign was hilarious and I think I commented on my TR but that was the 2nd time I had seen that in a TR within 24 hours!! :rotfl:

Leaving your room to the fate of the gods or request...that is my connundrum too! I have never special requested and it is almost fun to get that surprise when you get your packet!!

I know we have expressed this before but I am not good at sitting still upon arrival either! I am ready to move!!!

I really love the wooden walkways at CBR!! I am kind of sad I won't be staying their but we love POFQ and I am pretty sure it will keep Keith even happier!

Alright...I can't wait to see what hasn't been tried before!!

Be sure to watch for the Elvis tree next time you come our way. It may be hard to see when coming from Mississippi but you should be able to see it going back.

Some people may think those signs are there just to scare you but I take them veeeeery seriously! Scary!

Maybe one day you'll get a chance to stay at the CBR but if staying at POFQ keeps Keith happy, then I can't blame you for going there.

Sounds like a nice relaxing check-in day. It's been years since we stayed at CBR, so nice to get a glance again. I have a picture of JJ at CBR and he was a toddler.

Gotta love those blow up movie screens! Did they have a campfire at CBR too?

Sounds freaky! I guess you get use to it all after a while, huh?

They did have a campfire but we didn't realize it until it was too late.

It wont be long until we are at CBR for the first time  I love reading your trip report and cant wait for more:thumbsup2

I hope to have more pictures coming soon!

QUOTE
Of course you can! It's is nice to see Louisiana Disers! Are ya'll at the top of the State or at the bottom?

We are in Shreveport. But I grew up in Winnfield so I am very familiar with that part of the state

Shreveport is not too from us...West Monroe. Winnfield is even closer.

Subbing in and coming out out of lurkdom! :yay: loving your TR, I'm excited to hear about the cruise, I love cruising and I'm dying to go on a Disney cruise!
CBR is so beautiful,I stayed there my first time at Disney (20 years ago lol) and we are debating to stay there when we go in May! Can't wait to read about the rest of your trip :)

Welcome! I hope that you'll continue to post. When in May are you going back to WDW? We'll be there the end of May, 2013.

Sounds like a great first day! I can't just sit around for very long either! We stayed one night at CBR last month and I was not crazy about it. I thought it was very spread out and our room smelled musty to me. We did like the pool area though. It is interesting to hear other people's perspectives. Can't wait to see what you do at DTD!

It's really hard for me to sit still knowing that there's so much for me to do while on vacation. But, I somehow make myself do it. The resort IS spread out but we enjoy walking so it doesn't bother us. I love the fact that Disney has so many resorts to choose from so everybody can find the one that fits them just right.

Late (as usual) but subbing! :cool1:

Howdy! You are definitely not late!

Thanks for the update! :woohoo: I am interested in learning more about CBR. Your pictures look great. What about that particular resort has brought you back again and again?

From the minute we drove onto CBR property seven years ago, we fell in love. Many people don't like the fact that the resort is large but, to us, that's part of it's charm. We've stayed there when it was booked solid and it never felt that way. Each of the villages have their own beach complete with hammocks and beach chairs, laundry room and quiet pool. There's nothing better than lying back in a hammock and watching the EPCOT fireworks or just talking about what we did that day.

That sounds like a PERFECT day. Beautiful room, nice walk, good dinner and a Disney Movie! :cloud9: What could be better??

It was a darn near perfect day for sure!

wow, your day sounded perfect!! Nice room, enjoyable supper and just on time to catch a movie?? You can't PLAN that stuff. LOL. I wanted to catch a movie at our resort but it just wasn't fitting in with our plans so we caught part of 2 movies. LOL. and it just worked out so well for you :thumbsup2 I hope that luck kept up!!!

That's what I said....we couldn't have planned the day any better. We forgot about the movie on our second night so we just lazed around on the beach.

Yes. They have a bonfire on the beach by the main pool. They also have marshmallow roasting supplies!

Awesome!!

We had forgotten about the resort having marshmallow roasting until it was too late.

What a cool room location! I know it wasn't the most central location, but I love that little pathway by your room. Good for you for being up for a new room location adventure! :thumbsup2

I've never watched one of the movies at the resorts, but that sounds like such a nice and relaxing thing to do!

It was a great location in our opinion....nice and quiet and serene.

I'm in!!! I'm loveing your TR. I know what you mean when you talk about the Disney smell!!! I totally get it!!! It's also like the smell of Disney water. It's just different. LOL :) Can't wait to read more.

Welcome aboard! Oh there's definitely a different smell at Disney! I did find a washing detergent that reminds me of the Caribbean Beach Resort. It's Walmart's Lavender and something scent. :littleangel:

Welcome! I hope that you'll continue to post. When in May are you going back to WDW? We'll be there the end of May 2013.

Thanks!! I'm hoping to keep up with everything! I've got about 10 TRs bookmarked :rotfl:
We are going May 22nd - June 1st, which I think are your dates as well!! And we are planning on staying at CRB half the trip now!! :woohoo:
We are heading to Maine in a couple weeks and the Bahamas in October and I'm just focused on WDW, can't wait!!

All caught up!:goodvibes Aww...there is nothing better than seeing the WDW sign.:cloud9:

Love your pictures of CBR!!!:thumbsup2 It really looks like such a relaxing resort!!

What a perfect way to spend your first night!! A Disney movie under the stars sounds great to me!! Especially Wall-E...it's a favorite of ours.:thumbsup2

Lisa, the reason the three-legged dog on the sign (many pages ago) is facing the wrong way is that he's reading the sign. He won't know which way to go unless he reads the sign.:)

It's been a few years since we've stayed at CBR but reading your trip reports brings me back. Thanks.

Hey! I hadn't thought about that! I had someone say that maybe the dog walked backwards.

Maybe one day you can talk your guys into giving the CBR a try. I bet they would love it.

Those are our exact dates! Maybe our paths will cross. You've got several trips planned....lucky you!

Hey ya'll! I'm trying my best to get an installment written but we've had several deadlines due that have kept me busy.

I also owe a couple of you pictures of the fabric that I have on hand to make the pillowcase dresses. Unfortunately for me, I've been busy at home as well and I haven't gotten a chance to do that yet. I promise I'll take pictures and send them to you by Saturday.

First off, I forgot to mention that I broke my toe Sunday morning and half of my foot is now black and blue and purple. Those colors really clash with my bright orange toenail polish. :rotfl: Today is the first day that I have worn a pair of "real" shoes and I can tell it. My foot is hurtin' something fierce!

Second, as I mentioned to Coconuts, our next door neighbor who I have known since I was a child passed away and John was a pallbearer in the funeral. We spent several hours at the funeral home and then at the cemetery. Just reaffirms my thoughts that I don't want a funeral. If you didn't come to see me when I was alive, then don't come see me when I'm dead. :sad2:

Third, our garden is starting to produce and I'm canning string beans, making pickles and putting squash in the freezer. Yeah, try working in the garden and then working in the kitchen with a broke toe. It ain't easy I'm here to tell ya. :headache:

Anyway, I hope to get an installment up tomorrow. Ya'll take it easy until I do.

Oh and is anybody else having problems getting email notices on your subcribed threads? I won't get them for an entire day or two and then bam! I get a hundred.

What do you do to freeze your squash? Anything special or just wash it cut it and freeze it?

I wondered the same thing!:confused3 I just always thought it would get mushy if I tried to freeze it. We have been given an abundance already this season. I am not one to waste good garden veggies, so we have been eating squash almost every night. :sad2: I feel like Bubba Gump: Sautee'd Squash, Steamed Squash, Squash Casserole, Fried Squash...you get the picture. :lmao:

YES ! This happened yesterday and now again today.

It's driving me nuts. If I get a few emails at a time, I don't feel so overwhelmed but when I get over 100 at once :faint:

Sorry to hear about your toe! And your neighbor. Enjoy your garden's harvest!

Thanks! I'm regretting wearing the dress shoes to work today. Tomorrow, I'm back to sandals.

I just cut them into small slices and then sautee them in a skillet with a little butter and slivers of onion. I don't cook them all the way though. I leave them a bit crunchy. Once they've cooled off, I put them in freezer bags in the freezer. I defrost them in the fridge and then finish sautee'ing (is that a word?) them in a skillet. Easy peasy!

Oh my goodness, your poor toe! I swear for such a little thing, a toe can cause a lot of big problems with the rest of your body!

And I am so sorry about your neighbor and friend. What a shame. And I do agree with you on the funeral thing. I always tell Dan that if I die, take the money and go to WDW in my memory!

Can't wait for the next installment...

So sorry to hear about your neighbor.

And your toe sounds so painful! :scared: I hope it is better soon.

Wow - it sounds great! I am going to add CBR to my "hope to stay someday" list. That list just seems to get longer and longer and longer..... :rotfl2:

Sorry to hear of the loss of your neighbor. I feel the same on funerals, but I absolutely will not go to any that are open casket. It's my phobia.

A broken toe is painful, I've done that and WOW what a pain in the.......foot. Hope you heal quickly!

Yum fresh canned bean are the best!

What a great first day/evening to start your vacation. So relaxing. I love the outside movies. Such a simple thing but it just says Disney! We're thinking about the possibility of a resort day right off the bat for our next trip. Since that will be in January, the weather will probably play a role in that final decision. Your room and the pics of the resort are beautiful. I love seeing the different theming at the resorts.

Btw, I've been having the same annoyance of not receiving e-mails from the Dis! Hope they get that fixed soon!!

I'm so sorry about both your toe, and your neighbor.

Yay for the garden starting to give you some food to work with though!

I couldn't agree with you more about the funeral.... I'd rather people remember me as I was when I was still here. If anything I wish my friends/family would have a big party and eat good food and tell funny stories about me and laugh a lot! That would make me happy if I was looking down from above and saw everyone remembering the good times. I'm so sorry about your toe!! That hurts so much and there is not a lot you can do to make it better except wait. My garden is starting to produce too - we've had a bunch of yellow squash and peppers and we're starting to get tomatoes and even some cantaloupes are getting close to big enough. Love to eat things right out of the garden!

Oh, man, a broken toe is the pits! Hope it heals quickly. And sorry about your neighbor and friend. It has indeed been quite a week for you. When the veggies start coming in, you just have to pounce on them! We will wait for the next installment, perhaps impatiently, but after all you DO have a life outside the Disboards!! :rolleyes1
