My wife and I will be going on our 1st ever cruise with DD (23) and DS 18). I'm having a tough time deciding on what excursions to book. Our cruise will be at Castaway Cay 2x and at Nassau. Should I book with DCL or an outside company? Any ideas for what to do at Nassau with young adults?

they probably would like AquaAdventure at Atlantis on Paradise Island (You can see it from the ship when docked in Nassau)

Spendy but lots of fun

Are you able to show them what DCL offers and then discuss as a family? Or is it a surprise? When we went with my parents, I knew my dad would HATE being with a bunch of other people but we all wanted to go snorkeling. So I looked for private excursion I could book just for my family. If I had just booked something though without talking with the family, it could've been a disaster!

I would definitely look through all the excursions available through the Disney Cruise site and get family input. And then ask for opinions on the DisBoards.

We decided to use the Disney excursions. Being our first cruise, there was just so much we didn't know about. Finding independents we would like and managing to get there on our own just wasn't something we wanted to worry about. So, maybe we paid a premium, but a lot of managing was done for us. Maybe next time, we'll also look at independents or doing things by ourselves.

How much you'll save depends on the specific excursions. For our trip, I priced out some non-DCL alternatives to our chosen excursions and found out we'd only be saving like 10%. To me, that wasn't enough to justify the extra effort and uncertainty of working with outside vendors, although I'm sure they are fine. Again, it depends on the excursion, like do you also need transportation to it, etc.?

Have fun!

OP when is your cruise? We are doing the same itinerary for our first cruise July 9th.
