For those of you that bring your own snorkel equipment, do you set up your own excursions? I ask this because my husband and I want to buy snorkel equipment for our Western cruise with DCL in September and I know that Disney doesn't discount their excursions if you don't need snorkel equipment. Do you just get a taxi to take you somewhere to snorkel?? Thanks in advance for any advice!

We went on the Eastern Caribbean cruise 1/19. We used our own equipment on the Golden Eagle Catamaran. We also went snorkeling at Magans Bay at St Thomas and at Castaway Cay.

You can certainly do the excursions on your own if you have your own equipment. We did. However, we also took a DCL excursion to brought our own gear with us. It was soooo great, because when you got to your final destination, everyone else in the excursion group had to go listen to instructions on how to use the snorkeling gear. Then, they had to go stand in line while 100+ people were being fitted for their gear.

Needless to say...by having our own gear, we were in the water, snorkeling and having a great time for a good 25 minutes before anyone else from the excursion showed up to murk up the water.
