I'll start by saying that we didn't end up booking a Disney cruise but an Royal cruise. However, I am posting here since many Disney cruise travellers are coming with kids and my question applies as it's more related to the ports while cruising than the ship itself.

Our cruise is Eastern Caribbean (half a day in Nassau, St Thomas and St Maarten) and our kids will be 10 and 6 years. For those with kids and doing a Caribbean cruise, do you tend to explore the areas yourselves? Or do you book an excursion (with cruise or on your own)?

And if anyone has any specific recommendations of things to do/see at the above ports, let me know.

Thanks.

St Marten google bernard's tours there fantastic!¬!
St Thomas, Paradise point or magens bay diy is good.

We just did Nassau with our 9 year old. We walked to Fort Fincastle, the Queens Staircase, the Straw Market, and Junkanoo Beach. We felt safe the whole time and it wasn't that far to walk for the amount of money we saved. We just picked up a map from the tourism kiosks when we got off the boat.

Wouldn't a tour bore a 6.5 and 10.5 year old?

Bernards isn't a tour where you just ride around looking at things through the van windows. They stop at Orient beach, Maho, iguana farm, stop to see sea urchins, and shop at Marigot.

Ok thanks. I'm a little iffy about Orient beach with kids (but wouldn't mind a bit of beach time (

Jjlloyd, we may end up doing something similar in Nassau. Wish we had more time there to go to Blue Lagoon
