Excursion advice?

We are first timers... but Disney lovers.

My main goal is that our cruise goes to both castaway and lookout. I don't want to rush while there and enjoy the islands and soak up Disney touches and enjoy it.

The only thing I really want to do is the snorkeling at castaway.

Does this need to be booked ahead? Does it sell out? I ask because I'm not sure all of us will want to do it.

Lookout- I'm thinking of not booking anything. Will I regret this? These seems to be enough to do for first timers without needing to book anything and I don't want to miss the entertainment.

I have not been to Lookout Cay, but I have been to Castaway Cay at least 8 times, and the only excursion I have ever booked in advance is the Stingray Adventure for my kids and husband. We have rented bikes and water vehicles that day a few times. We usually just wander the island, swim, and relax, and always have a great time. So I do not think you will regret not booking excursions at Castaway Cay or Lookout Cay.

I can’t speak for sure about snorkeling, but my guess is that if equipment isn’t available when you first check, it will be available later in the day.

I have been to both. I would recommend booking snorkeling ahead if you really want to ensure you can do it. I would also recommend thinking about packing your own fins/snorkel as the fins ended up cutting into the tops of my feet.
When I went to Lookout I booked nothing and yes there is a lot to do, it felt like it was designed so you couldn't do everything as well and would have to come back.

Also just be prepared for weather, Castaway was so windy that they canceled all the excursions and no swimming at adult beach. You could still snorkel in the snorkel area but the current was quick strong. Lookout was also quite windy (no swimming at beach briefly) but it was the rain that caused a lot of the activities to be modified.
