Hi, trying figure out if this is the thing to do....

So, can you pick ANYTHING form the menu at any restaurant/CS?? I am so confused!:confused3 :confused3

THANKS

We were just there in January and had no problem ordering anything on the menu. The only thing that was said was that if you order something for two that counts as both of our stuff I could not order something else if he ordered the for two. But other than that it was great using the Dining plan. we had DXDDP and we did find if we used it at a counter service that was a non-disney owned we could not get apps with it because of their contracts with Disney said only an entree and dessert even if on the DXDDP. So we know that for next time and wont hit a counter service with the DXDDP. Hope that helps! :thumbsup2

As far as I know, you cannot order the French menu (3 courses) at Les Chefs de France at Epcot, on the DDP. However, you could order any entree and dessert on the basic DDP there.

At Restaurant Marrakesh in Morocco at Epcot, I don't think they allow the Moroccan feast on the basic DDP (which is a LOT of food).

You could order from the special 3-course menu at Le Cellier in Canada at Epcot on the basic DDP.

Keep in mind also...this is a VERY good thing...your snack credits can be used on many more things than the DDP brochure has in print. This includes things like a bagel during breakfast, pastries at Main Street Bakery, Dole Whips, etc. Not just the ice cream novelties, single serving of popcorn/chips or drinks that it states. There is actually a lot of variety for snacks!

Appetizers aren't included in counter service meals on any dining plan - just the table service.

this thread has the exclusions which have been reported on the DIS. As can be seen from the list here, there are very few of them.

Wow! I guess the disney counter services I went to when I was there in January were wrong. They gave us extra desserts and extra drinks because we were on the Deluxe and went to the counter service where they did not have an app. They put everything through and we gave them our KTTW card and everything took. :thumbsup2 The only counter service that said different was Earl of Sandwich which said because of their contracts there was no difference with the DXDDP or the DDP there. I guess we got lucky at the other ones! :thumbsup2

According to the official WDW brochure regarding the deluxe dining plan, counter service meals do not include appetizers or sides. I'd suggest that visitors using the deluxe plan should not expect to get extra food as their CS "appetizer" and consider it a bonus if you do get any, as per its own rules WDW is not required to provide DXDDP users ordering counter service with an appetizer.

Yeah I agree. I feel very lucky that happened! I was not aware but that's why I love these threads! Very good information!! :thumbsup2

I was making an additional ADR and the CM asked me if I would be using the dining plan. I informed him that since the DR was on our last day, we would most likely be out of credits. He then told me he would be sure to note on our ADR that we will "NOT" be using the dining plan. He then proceeded to repeat that information three times, so it peaked my curiousity.

I asked whether it mattered as far as food selection/choices (this is lunch at La Celluliar by the way) and he started to get nervous. I was being very nice but I was just curious so I asked if I have to order of a different menu and this CM told me YES, the dining plan participants have a separate menu!!!! :headache: This seemed to contradict the information I have been reading here so I wanted to ask one more time:
Do DDP participants have to order of a "special" menu???????????:sad2:

Boy that CM didn't have a clue. We go to WDW about every other month and sometimes we use the ddp and sometimes we don't and just use our TIW card. We have always gotten the exact menu whether we are or are not on on the plan. However, your server will make sure you do what you are suppose to do and keeps you informed if there are extra expenses. The servers do a great job in keeping all of the dining plans' rules straight. Heck when we call to make our ADRs we just tell them we are not on the plan and if we change our mind, we call members' services and add it right before we get there.

Thanks! That was helpful. Maybe he was a new employee and didn't want to admit that he just didn't know?!!!

What a relief! :cool1:
