Help.. My first trip ever is less than 100 days now.. I've done most of the planning and now its like whatever.. I've lost the excitement level.. Does this happen to many others? Even coming to the boards here doesn't help..

I keep telling myself it's the stress of getting this house ready to sell, the building of my new house and all the stuff that goes with that as well as the fact that between mid August and mid October I have a week at the beach, a wedding for my only niece to assist with (also out of town), a move to another city to get ready to do and then do it and my WDW trip all to handle...

Anyone have any ideas to get the excitement back?

I've been planning my trip since Dec. of last year. I did have a moment in May when I was not excited at all about going. I just lost all interest. I stopped looking on the forums or talking bout Disney all together. I have no idea what happened. But, a couple weeks later I got my free planning dvd in the mail and I watched it every night that week. Since then, I've been very excited. Now I only have 85 days to go!!!!!
I would suggest that you watch a disney movie or the planning video. Also, if you have pictures from a previous trip, look at them. Or, go to the Disney store.....although that will make you want to spend money. If you want to spend money though, get some Disney dollars. They're so cute and it'll remind you that you'll be going to Disney soon and you'll have to spend it there!!!!

The excitement will build again eventually... especially after all the other big events you mentioned come and go. I was super excited last September when we rented our BWV points... then school and the holidays and life got in the way... around March I started thinking about it again, and here I am up past midnight posting on the DIS with my suitcases already half packed around me! And I don't leave until Sunday (it's Thursday a.m. now)... just let the excitment come to you... it'll be like watching paint dry if you force it.

I can see how overplanning can actually do more harm. There are so much information on WDW that you just can't digest it all unless 'you've been there and done that'.
So get your dining reservations in order and just be prepared to have fun.
WDW really is a magical place so take it slow and enjoy the atmosphere.

This has happened to me for every trip I've ever planned, including our Disney cruise last summer.

Fortunately, every single time, the excitement does return at some point before the trip. :)

My next trip is in 12 days and I am VERY excited! But a few weeks ago, I had totally lost the excitement and interest. I was even thinking we should do something else, other than Disney World! :earseek:

Now that I see it as a pattern, I try not to worry about the loss of excitement, because now I know that it WILL return before the trip.

You do have a LOT going on right now and I think you're right when you say that they have something to do with how you're feeling. It's not to concentrate more on the things that you have coming up that will occur before your Disney trip. But once some of those things come and go, you can go back to thinking more about Disney.

One way that I get the excitement back is to look at pictures of the resort(s) we'll be staying at, and reading the reviews on the restaurants board about the restaurants we have PSs (ADRs now??). Sometimes it takes staying away from the boards for a day, or longer, to let the feeling of non-excitement pass, before coming back.

You still have a few months before your trip, I have a feeling you will get that excitement back before hand! Please come back and let us know, right before your trip, how you're feeling. :sunny: :flower:

Trust me, as soon as you drive on the resort and check into your hotel, and you turn on the TV to the info channel and hear the music, that excitement will spark again. There is nothing like it!! :earsboy:

nope, has never happened to me...

Yep!!! I am at 16 days out and have gone in cycles where it's goes from "I'm so excited I can't wait" to the "Whatever" scheme of things. Even NOW I have those. Where, I've read all I can read, nothing is exciting, everything is "ho-hum". I usually take a break at that point (had it somewhat this week even!).

We have been planning this vacation for over 2 years so it was a long time to wait. Right now I'm in the midst of my older DD at resident camp, next week is daycamp, my Ds-8 goes to summer school & that started this week, my DS-5 goes to speech 2x week so that started this week too. So, it's been insane. Plus our car needed repair and we are driving so it's like ACK!!! I think I'm going to go the opposite once that is done for ACK...I have a million things to do and no time left. :)

I'm in the limbo mode again, too early to pack, no new information to absorb, awaiting my information in the mail (I heard it went in the mail yesterday so that put the spark back and am getting giddy waiting for the mail now!), etc...

Happened to me before - I don't understand it. I'm leaving in 9 days for an 8 night trip and I'm happy to report that it HASN'T happened to me yet. This trip, however, didn't have much of a PD period. PD=Pre Disney. That's a term my DH and I have come up with to describe the period of time once you book a reservation until you actually go. It's an exciting time as you all know. We only had 6 weeks PD for this one. I think the longer out you book, the more you plan and obsess over it and I think what could be happening is your psych yourself up so much that the excitement tends to fade a bit. In other words, we all overdo it. But, it does come back...everybody is right. It will return. Don't worry.

My DH told me Sunday evening that he would give up our Disney trip if it was Friday evening again! :earseek: WHAT!!! Of course now that tomorrow is Friday he said he'd never give up a disney trip... crazy nut!

If nothing else works, I am sure that as soon as you drive under the great big arch that says "Walt Disney World", you'll be excited!

I have gotten this way the last couple of trips that we have taken.
But once we get ready to board the plane to head to Orlando, I am excited again! ::yes:: :cool1:

I'm kinda of in the "whatever" stage now and have been for the past few weeks. I don't mind talking about Disney or continuing to plan or anything, but the excitement level just isn't there. I know it'll be back once the date gets closer (40 days away), but for now it's at a lull. There have been other things that have been a higher priority that have been taking place here which is what pretty much entirely contributed to my "whatever" thinking. In a way, though, it's been a very good thing because it's made time go by much faster. When I was dwelling on the excitement, I felt liked time was inching by.
