So I just got a huge thumbs up from my husband and had to share. We've done a few trips to Disney now and he's getting sick of it :sad2:

2010 8 Nights - BWV 1 bedroom (all 4 of us)
2012 7 Nights - CSR 2 rooms (all 4 of us)
2013 4 Nights - CR garden wing (coming up 8/29 just me and the kids)

I had to plan the 2013 trip because I really wanted to surprise the kids with a quick trip. They don't know yet.

All along I wanted to do a super long 10 day plus trip in November of 2014 and see the Christmas decorations. My husband was really against it and thinks I have a problem (I know you understand this).

So, the other night I was watching a special on WDW on TV. It was followed by a special about DCL which I conveniently left playing after I went to bed. Well, he got sucked in and wants to do a cruise. I actually got him to agree to the following -

11/15 - 11/17 Two nights at Universal
11/17 - 11/24 One week at Disney
11/24 - 11/28 Four night cruise on the Disney Dream (over Thanksgiving) :dance3:

I am so excited and can't wait to get planning. It will be the trip of my dreams, the trip of a lifetime, and I feel blessed by Pixie Dust.

So I wanted to ask my friends on the DIS for any suggestions you might have. I am up in the air about where to stay at Universal and at Disney. I am thinking a bunk bed room at AKL or WL. Plus, I have never cruised before in my life.

Woo-hoo!!!! :woohoo:

Wow that's an awesome trip alright! Enjoy!

For Universal, I would stay onsite for sure. Seems like you can get some pretty decent deals, especially for the KidSuites.

Have fun planning!

Those husbands eh? LOL

Sounds like an amazing trip!! I am crossing halloween off our disney bucket list and then attempting to convince dh on your time of trip for Christmas!

have you thought about the Polynesian resort?? it is on the monorail and very convenient to MK and epcot...it is very relaxing and our kids loved the pool!

Sounds like an awesome trip :yay:. We are taking our first DCL cruise in December, with WDW stays before and after. I can't help with where stay at Universal as we've never been, but we are staying at the CR prior to the cruise and the Poly after. You are going to LOVE cruising :boat:. My DH and I have cruised a few times in the past (although never with DCL), but our two DSs have never cruised, so I am excited to see how they like it. Have fun planning :wizard:.

Fiendishly clever of you!! I'll need to steal that trick...

Sounds like an awesome vacation!

P.S. For our family (two boys 7 and 8), we'd definitely go WL, which we love. We also went on our first Disney cruise last year and it was AWESOME. You're going to have a great time!

We loved staying at Portofino Bay at Universal last April. It was lovely, the pool was wonderful, the location was great. The restaurants at the hotel were really good.

The Express Pass that comes along with staying onsite at Universal is very nice.

I have never stayed at WL or AKL but both are great choices - just very different theming and locations!

Have fun planning!:yay:

When dd was 11 I started mom and me trips. Dd and ds alternate each year. Then I got cheapo airfare 3 years in a row in Feb and took kids with me / no dh. I really enjoy those trips.

Yes, I know I am lucky my dh puts up with my Disney obsession.

He did learn that I am good to travel with though. On a last minute overnight without kids this May we got upgraded from SV to CL TPV! I also knew how to override air conditioners, how to take and pack snacks from lounge out to beach etc.

So when I asked to go over winter all 4 of us he of course said yes!

Happy planning! The anticipation is half the fun!

The boys might like a boat ride to WL. My ds16 still loves to explore the lobby there. There are rock cases and fireplaces on floors 2 and 3 in the hallways.
And the geyser!

Sounds like an awesome trip.
WL & AKL are both awesome resorts.
Hard to pick which one.
With AKL you have the animals.
WL you have the boat to MK.
Love them both; but DH & DD16 prefer AKL as they like the pool better.

If you like Harry potter then I recommend Hard Rock. It was a short walk (same or less than CR to MK). You get in an hour early and get their version of fast passes , and that was really awesome to have. The food was horrible in the park so we ate a lot at the HR restaurant or at hotel.

When you there in Aug check out one or two of your favorites to see what you want for next trip.
