When trying to start an ongoing search via RCI I noticed that most resorts have 2 codes DV or RD. The DV codes have an $190 fee the RD has none? Anyone know the difference? Moderator please move post if this can be better answered elsewhere.

One set are units offered as rental inventory (RD); the other are exchange inventory (DV).

Your signature say, "DVC Owner." Are you attempting to book a DVC resort using your DVC points via RCI? I don't believe this is possible. Rather, I understood that DVC has blocked trades back into the club using club points. However, if you are using other timeshare to make this work, and your ownership is not w/in 30-mile-radius (?) of WDW ... then go for it and enjoy.

Yes it’s through Wyndham, we’d like to try for a 1 bed but only have points for a studio. Chatted with RCI I was told RV meant resort villa.

I haven't monitored RCI for a while now ... but the trend, last I saw, showed Disney depositing 1BR units not studios.

That’s what we’re looking for. We want a 1 bed...we only have enough DVC points to stay in a studio, hence using Wyndham to trade😉

BTW, I found my weeks using stalking the RCI inventory and following TUG's Sightings forum. Yes, I had an Ongoing Search running ... but stalking and tracking delivered both weeks. It takes a little work. Don't rest on the Ongoing Search.

As mentioned, RD codes are for rentals only. They have not been used in many years; they date back to the recession, when Disney was looking for extra channels to rent out inventory. If I remember correctly, they were never particularly good deals either. Any exchange will be subject to the $190 nuisance fee.

At present, DVCMC only deposits 1BRs. The overwhelming majority of them have been at SSR. Most times of year are deposited, but some periods are harder to get (October, early December, race weekends, etc.) You may have to be patient; deposits can come as early as seven months prior, but tend to be closer in. I confirmed my most recent exchange about 4.5 months prior to check-in.

DVCMC deposits to both RCI Points and RCI Weeks. Ongoing searches match only to Weeks; you have to book Points by searching yourself. If you are a resale-only Wyndham owner who has not enrolled in PlusPartners you will only see Weeks inventory. If you have a contract that was purchased from the developer (or enrolled in PP standalone back when that was possible) you can also see Points inventory.

Finally, if you have not already done so it is worth joining TUG (https://tug2.net/). For $15/year, you have access to their Sightings board, where people actively post the DVC and other prime inventory they see. Well worth it.

Thank you. We are Wyndham resale owners and TUG members. I don’t have a ton of spare time to stalk but again can use my DVC points to stay, it will just have to be in a studio...and after doing the math the exchange fee and resort fee is likely still cheaper than renting and trying to attach it whatever days I can afford using my points for a one bedroom. PS a friend of Bill W. as well 😉

If you are resale-only, you might not need to stalk. I have a resale-only/non-PP account, and all of my exchanges have come via ongoing search. The few exceptions were things I found and decided to take, but hadn't been looking for originally.
