Exchanging Old Tickets

I don't think we'll ever do a one to two day trip though. We live far enough away to fly so we'd like to spend more than a couple days in the parks if we are going to pay that much to come down.

So, I have tickets from maybe '96 or so. They have these old grainy pics on them. So, it won't matter if the person in the pics isn't there to do the exchanging on the ticket? There is at least one good ticket, not sure if the others will have a day as well or not. But, one may have water park tickets on them. Would those be good as well? We don't really do water parks now but just wanting to know what's what. And, I'm figuring if we exchange, we can save that ticket until it's needed, correct? TIA!

1. Gray area. Better than 49% chance you can use them.
2. Anything still "good" will be usable on old tickets.
3. Tickets can be saved and used in the future.

Great, thanks Robo! So, to ensure a greater chance of being able to convert and use them is there anything special I need to do or say to help that along, (Other than remembering to bring them with us, lol!). Especially in regards to the person who definitely won't be there with us to change.

Just say that these are old family tickets.

I talked to the people I am traveling with and decided not to use my tickets. I'm going to book the package everyone else is. I'm going to hold onto the tickets and use it for a future trip. Like I can use it to do two days at Disney and then do something non Disney. This time, we want to do the full Disney experience so it's a better deal to just do a package through our travel agent.

That is VERY common (of course,) as kids have the habit of growing up. ;)

If the ticket has been partially used (as in, it has what's left of a non-expiring ticket) all you have to do is take that child's ticket, AND the (former) child to any ticket booth or guest relations and the CM will issue a new "adult" ticket with the same assets… all at NO CHARGE.

If the child's ticket has never been used…
THAT is a different story.
Take it to any ticket booth or guest relations and the CM will issue a new "adult" ticket with the same assets…
but you must pay the difference between what you originally paid for that child's ticket and the current cost
of an adult ticket with the the same assets.

That is awesome information, Robo!!! Thanks!

We found two old tickets recently that I linked in MDE to myself and my husband. I am now rethinking whether to use them now or on a later trip. Now that they are in MDE, what happens if I decide to buy an annual pass this year and want to hold those for future dates? Can they be "turned off" now so that they don't get used? And the annual pass is the one active for next few trips?

If the old tickets have never been used at all... you can create a "phantom guest" with a new name in your MDE account and transfer the tickets to that "person." When you are ready to use those tickets, you can transfer them back to your real names.

If the old tickets HAVE been partially used, just go to a Guest Relations before entering a Disney park and have the CM set the the new AP (or other new ticket) to the HIGHEST PRIORITY in your MDE account. The highest priority ticket will be the one that is used next at the park gate.
