I'm not into exchanges myself, don't see the point. I would rather pick out my own junk.

How about you?

I have participated in a few, and really enjoyed them. But I just don't have the time anymore.

Love the exchanges...
Haven't participated in one in awhile though...
Lots of credit to those that subject themselves to organize one... :goodvibes

Nay! Who has the time? Also, I'd be afriad I get something really crappy. I like to pick out my own things.

Yeah - what Shep said!

The ornament exchange is a nice one. As were the My Corner of the World ones.

The organizers have to put up with a ton of crap and many, many headaches... :guilty:

I've done a few over the holidays and enjoyed them. On a regular basis, no.

Wanted to add I am not trying to minimize the organizers' efforts. I'm sure alot of work is needed to put together an exchange. Just not something I'd be into.

Only if you accept the fact that you may get stiffed... There is no 100% guarentee you will receive anything or items that were "worth" what you sent.

I do them all the time and I have been stiffed on a few occassions. I just don't let that get me down or stop me from doing what I enjoy because of it.

I'm just now participating in my first Dis exchange (favorite author), which I think will be fun.

On another forum where I'm a regular, I've participated in quite a few exchanges and hosted one. I think they're a lot of fun, although I believe it would be far more difficult on a board as huge as the Dis. The other forum where I did it was a good bit smaller.

I participated in a mug exchange last year. In the end I found it to be too time-consuming (picking out the perfect mug, packing it, mailing it), but overall it was fun and I really enjoyed the mug I received.

Well, until it got broken. :(

I have participated in a couple on the rewards board, but its been a long while. I don't think I will do anymore however.

Last December, the WISH board did a "get to know you" holiday exchange, which was a lot of fun. That's the only exchange I've participated in.

I just don't have the time or energy to do more than one a year.

I've done a few and enjoyed it. I haven't done any lately because I just haven't had the time. I wish I did the candy one though...oh well.

A side note (my opinion) I think its kinda insulting to insinuate you are going to get crap or junk. I've given and received many nice things and enjoy taking the time to find just the rights items. Alot of people put quite a bit of thought into what they are giving.

No thanks- my life is hectic and I tend to be scatter brained at times.... I am afraid I would forget deadlines.

Umm...you have 35 posts and you just joined? :confused3 :paw:

I like the exchanges. I've never gotten stiffed or a bad exchange. I also like picking out stuff for other people.

My laziness prevents me from participating!

I was just thinking of one funny incident that happened to me on an exchange, not on this board, but another smaller board I used to be a member of. It was an ornament exchange. Christmas came and went and I never received my ornament. I said something to the organizer, who said something to the person who had my name. We all knew one another pretty well on this board, and I knew this lady fairly well (she can pipe in if she reads this thread if she wants!). She wrote to me and apologized, and said she was sorry but she did mail it. We checked addresses, etc., and she did send it to the right address. I just chalked it up to something that got lost in the mail.

Well almost 3 YEARS LATER I got the package. I kid you not. It had a postmark of 12/01 (right after 9/11, when our post offices in D.C. were riddled with anthrax  ) and I received it 9/04. Me and that person got a huge laugh out of that. Everytime I hang that ornament on my tree (its a WDW 2001 ornament too :p ) I smile. :)
