Exchanges into DVC

I think I know the answer to this one, but enlighten me. Just how feasible is it to do an II exchange into say SSR for a 2bedroom in mid-summer?

I had a Williamsburg week up in II for a year or so and the only units I found were in September, usually a 1bedroom.

Its not ging to happen at all. Starting Jan 1st, DVC is switching to RCI.

Now if DVC do not switch to RCI, then you would have chance.

I've been watching the DVC deposits in II for the sighting board at TUG.

Yesterday there was a studio at BWV for 6/7 and a couple of end of May studios at VWL, plus the smatterings of OKW/SSR.

There was a few 1brs at OKW/SSR for May/June but those were snapped up really quick after the RCI news raced through the various timeshare mbs.

Ton of Jan/Feb weeks at HHI, including a GV for end of Jan that sat for ever before it got snapped up.

I think there will be some more deposits, because if you can make an instant match DVC will let it go through.

Oops, I knew I should have paid better attention to the RCI news. I thought it was just an addition to the exchange offerings. Still I never found much merit in my attempts of an II trade. Like Starbox found, it was mostly studio and 1bedrooms which seemed a downgrade from our 2bedroom deposit. And to think when we first bought Marriott the salesman made exchanging into Disney sound so easy.

:scared1: RCI - oh know. I literally just put in for a trade for my 2 bedroom Hawaii 2008 week for VWL in December 2009 and VWL, BCV, and BWV for March 2010 as a placeholder. I guess that ain't gonna happen now:sad2:. Oh well, I guess I will have to figure out where else I'd like to go. Thanks for the heads up.

Just a side note: these are only the "leftovers" that aren't matched by an ongoing request. So, you're only seeing the inventory that didn't have a standing request, not all of it.

I traded my Marriott Manor Club of a One Bedroom at Boardwalk Villas today. I check in on June 26th and check out on July 3rd. This will be my last trade into Disney :sad2: .

Good luck to all of you still looking for a trade in II.

Granted I am not as sophisticated with the exchange companies (visiting TUG is like dropping into a Physics convention for me), but the whole thing didn't seem to work well for my needs. I find that if I don't call at the 11 mos. mark for Disney rooms, I tend not to get the HA units I need. SSR runs out of HA studios fast, while 1bedrooms do tend to stick around a bit. Because of that, I've been very reluctant to even chance an II exchange into Disney.

Out doesn't seem an issue. I've never had a problem waiting for the month before check-in to call for a HA unit at Marriott. They have tons of them. I'm guessing demand is lower for HA rooms at Marriott than Disney. Perhaps it has to do with the local transportation issues. I know I can fly down to Disney and never have to worry about how I'll transport my powerchair around. But whenever we stay at Marriott, I know I have to provide my own transportation. That transport is significantly more expensive. The going rate for a HA van-accessible minivan is $100 per day.:scared1: And you can forget about relying on HA taxis except in the rarest locations like Vegas or London.

You can accept an exchange then within 24 hours of when the exchange is made, call DVC to confirm a HA unit. If it's not available, call II back and cancel the exchange for no penalty.

Is that cancellation policy just for handicapped rooms or everyone?? If it is for everyone - I had no idea and thanks so much for the info.

This is for everyone who is an II member and is not directed at any special group. It's 24 hours from when the unit is confirmed. RCI has the same rule as well as RCI will allow you to put a unit on hold.

Let me be clear, these rules are for II and RCI members, these do not necessarily apply to DVC members because DVC chooses not to allow it. I know for certain that DVC doesn't allow the 24 hour cancelation rule with II and doubt they will with RCI for members trading out. My answer was related to trading in through II.
