Broccoli cheese casserole, sweet potato casserole, corn souffle, & cheesey grits.

My DS chose to serve turducken for Thanksgiving with his inlaws. They still talk about it!:rotfl: It was not a hit!!!!

Bobbi

What are some of your favorite side dishes?

Really buttery mashed potatoes. I mix in sour cream, too. I had a sweet potato casserole this summer (we had a lot of families at a beach house and decided to make a thanksgiving dinner) and it was so good, so I'll make that this year. I usually make perogies, since my mom always did.

This is the first year my parents are coming for Thanksgiving, so I'm already looking through recipes, and ordered a fresh turkey.

If you had a guest visit you who has never visited your state before, what three attractions or things would you take them to/do?

My choices would be Mt. St. Helen's area, Pike Place Market and whale watching.

Back at you question....for everyone. If you were to come to my state....Washington, what attractions would you want to see?

Ceasar's Creek Lake; Kings Island Themepark; Cincinnati Zoo

I'd want to see Washington state through your eyes. What makes it special to you.

Only 3 things! This is hard!! OK, I guess I would go with :
1) A day trip to London (OK cheating I know as there is so much to do there, but I would do the tour of Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London, then a trip on the London Eye - it is like a big wheel where you sit in a big capsule and you get to see all the sights of London, then take you for a traditional afternoon tea at Harrods.)

2) A trip to Rockingham Castle which is 2 minutes away from my house. Parts of the building are 1000 years old. Queen Elizabeth 1 stayed there many times, plus the family that owned it in the Victorian times were friends with Charles Dickens and he actually wrote some of his books whilst staying there. The village and house in his novel Bleake House are based on that house and the village I live in.

3) A day out in Oxford to see the collages and go punting on the river.

OK, I have a question. If you were visiting England where would you like to visit?

Ceasar's Creek Lake; Kings Island Themepark; Cincinnati Zoo
....

We must live pretty close to each other, these are all within an hour of my house...we go to Ceasar's Creek to walk our dogs and we're members of the Cincinnati Zoo. Do you go to the holiday lights?

Bobbi:goodvibes

PS. I would take people to the Air Force Museum, to Bob Evans farm...as a way to get there myself, and to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Not yet, but this year we plan on going to the Holiday Lights.

We've not been to the Air Force Museum yet, but we have seen the Wright Brothers' one.

I could almost throw a rock to the lake. :thumbsup2

I grew up around Amish farms.... Good eats! :cool1: (Love Das Essen Haus in Middlebury, IN. Always have to pay a visit there when I return to northern IN/southern MI. )

Oh -- I think I am going to go visit danauk! :lmao:
I would love to see all the british places. Maybe even a Jack the Ripper tour. Although that does sound pretty grusome....
And I would need to to a train over to DLP. :woohoo:

Now when people visit here -- of course I would (and do) take them to WDW. :yay: That also may include a trip into Cast Connection, which can be an adventure all its own. :rotfl:
Then if they still need somewhere else, there are plenty of other places to choose -- from outlet malls to the ocean or gulf. :cheer2:

I still want to see Sea World and Busch Gardens Tampa. We have day tickets already to SW and I am waiting for when they have their holiday decor up. Which may be now, if they are like WDW. :rotfl2: Maybe over T-Day weekend. :rolleyes1

If you were to pick a child from an angel tree, what age, and gender would you select? And, if there was no preference in gift, what gift would you choose for him or her, within a $25.00 price range.

DH looks for any boy that loves trains. I like the preshool age kids. There are so many fun toys to buy. Of course this year there may not be any safe toys to buy.

I'd pick an older child, as most people find them hard to shop for. I'd go to Old Navy and pick out as many shirts as I could for the $$.

I like taking girls' names. It's so much fun for me to buy girly toys since I have 3 boys. So, I'd go for princess items.

We did this every year while my kids were growing up. It made them see a different perspective and taught them something about giving and sharing that I could never have taught them by simply telling.

My son and daughter always chose someone near their own age. It was easy for them to select things for the child because it was stuff they would like to get. Usually the angel tree card didn't list precise things, only girl/boy, age, and sizes. We always picked a toy or two, a fancy outfit they might not otherwise spend money on, and some essentials.

If I were to pick I would probably choose a girl about age 5 or so. I love shopping for little girl things. With my own daughter now 22 years old, I miss it!

So, my husband wants me to learn how to make Chinese pork hash. I would rather learn how to make mongolian beef. If you were to learn how to make a food item that you don't know how to make yet, what would it be?

Thinking of chinese food, I'd like to learn how to make chicken with broccoli that actually tastes like the one from the chinese restaurant. Sounds like a simple dish, but it isn't. I have no idea what they put in their sauce, but I can't duplicate it. Not even close!

I'd also like to know how to make a good pie crust.
