Hilarious. I emailed about a different issue and received the same email response, tweaked a tad but paragraphs 2 and 4 the same and paragraph 3 changed by 20 words or less. Instead of the VI Passholder Desk, mine was from the security team.

So….they responded but don’t really care. They already have your money. 😂

This is Disney speak for "We hear you but since we already have your money, we don't care."

There is no such thing as a do not disturb sign at Disney resorts. There hasn’t been for several years.

It’s a room occupied sign and it specifically states they will knock and come in anyway.

Putting that sign out just lets them know to expect people in the room when they knock.

Back to the arguing.

My experience is that it hasn't been a knock; it's more like a tap-tap-tap that's barely audible, made, probably, with a master key card.

Wow, they didn't even try to customize the form letter :(

Just adding to this of my experience 10mins ago at AKL-Jambo in a DVC studio. I had a late start but was out approx 4 hours (10-2) and trash and towel service came while I was out. Around 3pm while resting I have a knock on the door while the room occupied sign is back up and it was all very confusing. I still don’t know what the purpose was. It was housekeeping asking if I needed anything and I explained they’ve already come earlier while the room occupied sign was not up. She mentioned they need to come each day but didn’t ask to enter the room for a security check. I still don’t know what the purpose was and I called housekeeping after as I’m very confused. They didn’t have an answer for me either and I didn’t want a call back as then I would be disturbed again. If there was a mistake in their records then that’s one thing but they didn’t say anything like that. I’m so confused when these things happen while half asleep.

We had a room check maybe 20 minutes after check/housekeeping in at the BW a few years ago handed the guy a 20 (2BR) never saw him again and we are in the room enough but we had empty trash and clean towels all week.

We stayed in a resort studio last week at GF and had a very annoying security check. We had been gone all morning at MK and when we got back I noticed our trash had been taken but not our pile of towels on the bathroom floor. My ds (4) needed a nap badly. Right after we both fell asleep I heard knocking on the door. Luckily it didn’t wake him but I went to check the door and there wasn’t anyone there. So I went back to bed and tried to sleep again only for the freaking phone to ring. We had a pretty loud sound machine going so again, ds somehow managed to stay asleep. I tried to answer the phone but couldn’t hear them over the sound machine but I whispered loudly that my DS was napping and they hung up. These “security checks” are absolutely ridiculous and need to stop

Most likely it wasn't noted that someone stopped in early.
If she’d just said that it would have been so much easier to understand. Don’t expect me to be clear headed if you wake me at the wrong point of a sleep cycle!!!

Were you on a cash stay? It sounds to me like the security check happened while you were gone, reports usually say they take the trash. I wonder if the knock & phone call were from housekeeping wanting to clean the room/ know if you need anything. That’s what happens with housekeeping for us if we have the room occupied sign out.

It’s possible she just knocked on the wrong door & didn’t even realize it. I’m a retired RN & truthfully, over the years there were a few times I walked into the wrong room before I realized it. You’re busy, thinking of all the things on your list & all the room doors look the same. Easy for me to quickly realize it & apologize for entering the wrong room. The housekeeper might not have even realized if she was at the wrong room.

I’m a lot more tolerant if people just acknowledge they’ve made a mistake rather than having a confusing circular conversation.

That’s understandable. But like I said, if it was a mistake, she may not have even realized she was at the wrong door. And of course, the person answering the phone in housekeeping wouldn’t have known the housekeeper made a mistake either.

I think the "theatrical" act deters certain criminals from staying at Disney. People with things to hide are less likely to stay at hotels with strict daily checks. It's a good prevention measure.
The $15 per hour guard is so menacing that they are deterring criminals? Could it be the $300+ per night room when they can go a few miles down the road and get a $60 room? It's a complete waste of time and manpower.
