Just a 2 night stay that began with a 5:30 AM flight! We were so lucky that our room was ready at 10:30 arrival. I had requested Congress Park, the room was just across the street in the Paddock, on the first floor, and it was close enough. We had a car for most of the time, and we had no problems at all with the MK busses...to/from the park it was wonderful!

We enjoyed a lunch at Turf club yesterday and the food was tasty, and really more than I espected. The next time we go, I'll eat there only if I'm going back to the room to keep the leftovers for a snack! I had the chicken sandwich, DH had the cheeseburger.

Our plans including swimming after check out on our last afternoon, which was yesterday. Unfortunately the spa had a plumbing problem, and the "free" changing area as well as the spa itself was out of commission. So....Jill and others in the lobby helped us out by giving us a 1 time key to a vacant villa to use the bath/changing facilities to shower and change. Now THAT's GREAT Customer service.

We did go to the presentation at the TOTW Lounge...DH won the $100 gift certificate. What a great time, lots of fun crammed into a 2 night, last minute trip by DH and I. We had seen the Electrical Light parade and the Summer fireworks in the MK in July, but on a rainy night. On Saturday, we had a great view of the parade and the fireworks.

I'll say it again. We are very happy DVC members and love sharing our points and vacations with family and friends. I love coming to the Disboards to learn about special things and I realize that it's not all good times and roses for members when they stay but sometimes good things come out of bumps in the road, too!

Glad you had a great stay. We are going to be staying at SSR for the first time October 31 through November 4 in a two bedroom. We have not requested a room or location. Any advice on where we might want to be within the resort would be appreciated. Also what is the best way to get to Epcot from SSR using Disney transportation?

The Springs are right across from the main pool and a great location if you have kiddos with you since it is a short walk to the pool and restaurants. If you want a BEAUTIFUL view from a balcony in the evenings, a DTD view across the lake in Congress Park is a wonderful choice, but about a block from the main pool. There is a quiet pool in Congress Park though so that helps. As far as transportation to Epcot, there are buses that go directly to Epcot from SSR.

I love hearing such a positive report as this..... :worship: thanks for taking the time to post it. I am looking forward to staying at SSR one day..... . if I ever pass ROFR> :headache:

What a quick response, thanks. No kids, just 4 55+ "kids" doing Food and Wine and enjoying ourselves. Congress Park sound perfect for our trip, wine on the balcony seems like a great way to end the day.

Awesome Bobbi!

We had a great experience at SSR last summer. I can't wait to stay there again!

I think SSR is a very pretty resort and love the views of DTD. Glad you had such a nice trip-sounds like it was very relaxing! :)

Thanks for posting your trip report! I am heading to SSR for Labor Day weekend!! Cant wait!!
Looking forward to the leisure pools, and hanging out at DTD. We purchased restaurant.com certificates for HOB so will go over there 1 evening for appy's and drinks.
Going to a concert at Gaylord.
The 1 thing I love about SSR is that we hardly ever have to wait for our room. If I have an early arrival time, that is a big consideration!

Good for you!

Enjoy your Labor Day stay, it sounds like you have fun things to do! Our Labor Day vacation is to Glacier National Park. We've never been there, but the National Park shows on TV have me very excited about being there.

We stayed at the THV last Labor Day week and had a spectacular time. It's very quiet. Enjoy! :goodvibes

SSR appeals to me. I'd like to arrange a long weekend stay there one of these days.

Glad you had a great time!

We ate lunch at the Turf Club on Monday as well. It was about 12:30/1:00....

I requested the Springs. On Tuesday last week, I just threw on Congress Park as well. We got CP, the building closest to the pool. We overlooked the little canal, but really just had a big tree. But who's spending time on a balcony these days anyway?

We did miss the Boardwalk, but will be happy to take the availability SSR offers should we plan last minute again. We were quite happy with the resort overall. LOTS of hidden mickeys.

The summer fireworks were amazing. I heard they were the same as Pirates & Princesses from a couple years ago. But we only saw those from the Poly, never in the park. It was awesome to be surrounded by them. The crowds...not so awesome. But we managed.

Great weekend for us as well.

Again, we may not seek out a reservation from SSR, but we'll be happy to stay there again if that's the way the cards fall.

Hi there...I think we ate a bit after you. They were doing a fine business, but it could have been due to the weather. Did you enjoy your lunch?

I like the Congress Park pool because it has a 5 ft. area next to the ledge . We had hoped to see Cars at the main pool on Sunday, and we actually called the resort to ask if the movie was still on and told yes...but when we got there, they were in the process of taking down the portable screen because of threat of rain, and the movie was moved to the CH. We stayed in the pool....because it was evening, do you know we actually felt a bit cool when we got out of the pool. What a delightful feeling because well, the feeling was definitely more sultry than cool the rest of the time.

Those fireworks were so good! I'm glad you got to see them too. When we saw them in July, as I mentioned it was a rainy night and we saw them from the RR station. So, the faces of the pirates that they had on the side were not really in our vision.

We own 100 SSR points, because we do want to experience the treehouses. and we will in November. Our only other stay at SSR was on '04, when only Congress Park was available. Now that we've been in the completed SSR we will take any of the sections provided we have a car for at least part of the trip. I did sit on the patio, I like to drink my morning coffee outside, and even though my view included the road and people walking, I was fine. There were so many little cameleon like creatures, they were so interesting to me to watch. :goodvibes I am always surprised to read when people say they get bored with a savannah view at AKV, because "who can watch animals for that long!" I can watch flowers grow and be happy!

I'm so glad that you enjoyed your trip too!

PS. The villa that they gave us to change in was a 1 bedroom, and we both thought it was nicely furnished. We enjoyed the artwork.

The chicken sandwich was one of the best things we ate all weekend. DH had it fried, mine was grilled. It was starting to thunder on our way up there. It barely rained while inside.

Sunday we braved DTD and it was hot and sticky and crowded. Not "cool" feeling at all.

We were still there Monday and it rained late afternoon while we were at Epcot. That evening felt "cool." But now that I'm home in Chicago where the heat finally broke--I'm cold! The AC feels cold and we got to sleep with the windows open (which equals no snoring for DH). And again tonight. Then back to the heat.

I love enjoying balconies no matter where. However, we had NO view with the huge tree outside. I probably would not have spent any time out there except for some air. We couldn't see any of the little activity that was there.

But man, was it quiet!!!!!!!!!! Very nice. All the points belong to the in-laws. ;)

How nice for you! We're the DGP and after the cruise, whcih just has a 1 night WDW stay, our DS/DDiL and 3 DGC will have a BWV stay over NYE. You mentioned missing the Boardwalk. Is that your favorite area?

It's not cool here in the Dayton Ohio area, but it is so nice, I think the humidity is gone, and that makes a difference.

I have a feeling that we may have sat next to each other at the Turf Club. We were by the window and the family next to us had a darling DD who looked about 3.

Did you have the chicken sandwich with all the extra tomatoes and your DH had on a Boardwalk hat or polo?

That's so funny!

Fortunately that was one of our daughter's better times. She had a rough Sunday.

We like the BWV because of the location and walking to parks. We had the stroller in our villa and DD asked if we were walking to the park (so even she remembered). We did miss that. We hadn't parked at Epcot in probably 7 years we decided.

But we always rent a car, no matter where we stay. So once we got the location figured out, we decided that SSR, THV, OKW and POR/FQ are really also Epcot resorts, just on the front side of Epcot, not the back. AK was a hike, but everything else was closer that we expected.
