I can't for the life of me remember how to do this. I have a column that has a number in the top cell. I want to add 1 to the cell below it, add 1 to the cell below it, and so on. so it should look like this:

1
2
3
4
.
.
.

I have about 500 numbers I need to use, and I want don't want to do this by hand. Any suggestions??

TIA

Put the sequence of numbers in 3 or 4 of the cells. Highlight all of the cells with entries in them. Then put your cursor in the lower right corner - it will change from a large white cross to a narrow black cross. Press the left mouse key down and drag down the worksheet until you reach the desired number in the sequence. Hope that makes sense?

Or in the first cell - type in 1. Cell below it type in =A1+1
(assuming that A1 is your cell that number 1 is in) and then copy the cell with formula (by doing ctrl+c), highlight down the column and hit ctrl+v (paste).

Auto series is only available in later versions. To do it with full control use Edit>fill>series.
