i have read that it may only be shown once during our vacation and it's a "must see" but what is it?! fireworks? parade? stage show? none of the above? do tell...

It's the parade at MK at night

wow, thank you! it does sound amazing from the link i read... now i hope we can make it too!

best viewing spot for spectro?!

We snagged a curb spot in front of the Emporium - mostly to make a quickish exit from the park so I could get ds back to the resort and tucked into bed.

Where should we sit to watch the SpectroMagic Parade?

Some of the more popular places to watch this parade are on Main Street and in front of the Castle. Many people want to watch the parade and then make the exit for the day. If you want to linger in the park after the parade, though, I would recommend a few other spots so that you are not in the Massive Crowd trying to exit.

In Liberty Square, you can grab a snack at the Sleepy Hollow snack shop and then sit at one of the tables at the Liberty Square Bridge. This provides a wonderful view of the parade as it goes over the Bridge and you can relax at the table and chairs.

In Frontierland, there are several raised platforms in front of the Diamond Horseshoe Saloon and the Frontierland Trading Post and Shooting Gallery. These are great spots to sit and watch the parade. You are not on the ground sitting, there are several covered areas in case of rain, bathrooms are very close by, and even if someone sits in front of you, the view is still great!

If you go to this link it has tons of pictures for you to view of the parade. It is an awsome parade to watch. You get to see all the Disney characters and it really keeps the little ones amazed with all the lights.

it is a great parade... if you haven't had the opportunity to see it, definitely find out what days it will be showing when you go, and make that day your mk day.

here is a link to a website that had some video clips of it...

I second the suggestion of getting a curb spot as close to the exit as possible (Emporium's a great place) because man it's a complete and utter mess trying to get out of MK if you're further down the street (assuming the parade is after Wishes or is the 2nd parade if there are 2 in 1 night; with the exception of once, I've never been when they've only had it once a night). :sad2: It's bad regardless, but if you're closer to the exit that means not only less time waiting for the monorail or ferry, but less time spent dodging 5 billion people in one big hurry. I've gotten my feet run over by many a stroller during that part of the day, yowch. :guilty:

exiting after spectro does not sound pleasant... if we watch from frontierland (shooting gallery vicinity) will the train still be running to get back to the main gate? that might be a nice way to end the evening and dodge some crowds?

It depends on when Wishes is. The train shutsdown during the fireworks because the the back of the park is a fallout area.

We watched Spectromagic from in front of the Country Bear Jamboree last week. The train wasn't running. They have to turn the lights off in the park along the parade route so alot of the rides shut down during the parade.
On the way out we took the shortcut to Adventureland right by the Magic Carpets and went right by the CP and through the stores on the right side of MSUSA. From the end of the parade to getting on the monorail took 10 minutes. But, it was the 9PM parade and we walked while WISHES was going on, so the "crowd" wasn't really leaving yet. We had already seen WISHES twice, so we didn't mind walking while it was going on. :mickeybar
But it is an amazing parade, I would definitely make sure to see it, even if you have to fight the crowd (that's what Disney is all about :earsboy: )
