First time heading to Disney every (so excited!!!). How fast exactly is a fastpass+ reservation? Does it get you through a line in a matter of minutes? Or are you still waiting quite a while? What is the wait compared to if you didn't have a fastness for that ride?

Generally under 20 minutes is considered normal and frequently 5 to 10 minutes.

Standby line can be minutes to hours. Hours for thing like Flight of Passage or Seven Dwarves Mine Train. But that is unusual.

It TOTALLY depends on the ride and many other factors, too! Generally speaking, the longer the stand-by wait is, the longer the FP+ wait will be, too. For the Tier 1 rides, you can expect the FP+ wait to be 10-20 minutes long. For rides that are not one of the headliner attractions, with shorter stand-by wait times, the FP+ wait will be 0-10 minutes.

From the FP FAQ:
- It is rare for any FP wait at any normally-operating attraction to exceed 15-20 minutes. This includes the most popular or lowest capacity attractions such as Avatar Flight of Passage or Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

In our experience, FP+ waits for all types of rides tend to range from 0 - 10 minutes, regardless of standby waits. The one time we had to wait 25 minutes or so was for Frozen Ever After, right after it was released, & I think it had a lot of people in the FP line because many of them had their FPs switched from earlier in the day to a later time due to breakdowns of the ride that were chronic then.

Bottom line: the waits really are short with FP+. It makes a huge difference over just getting in a standby line and waiting it out.

Most rides are pretty quick, as the other posters have said. However, both times my daughter and I rode FOP with fast passes last week, it took 1 hour from entering the line to walking out of the store at the end. There was nothing wrong, and there weren't that many people in the fast pass line. It just seems to take awhile. Keep that in mind if you happen to have another fast pass immediately after FOP.

Wow, that’s surprising. I’ve heard of 30 to 45 minutes for FoP but that was with issues. In general,I think FoP takes at least 15 minutes due to the pre-show and such.

When i have done FOP via FP (5 Times now) it’s always been 30-40 mins without any issues. It’s usually 10-15 mins to get to the first pre-show.

We were there November 12-20. 8 day ticket. Used at least 50 FPs. The vast majority of waits were under 10 minutes. FoP was the longest wait by far. The first time took 30 minutes before we even started the preshows. Second time was less, but still over 20 minutes to get to the preshows.

I think the key here is what mesaboy2 quoted above - it is rare for any normally operating ride to exceed 15-20 minutes for FP+. We were at WDW in late October and experienced MANY ride interruptions and closures with headliner rides. Even when they were back on track for a few hours, the impact of that remained. We waited 15-20 minutes (or more) for Space Mountain, Tower of Terror, Frozen Ever After, Test Track, meeting Tink, and Flight of Passage.

Also, since the OP is going for their first trip - it might be helpful to know the total ride time so that you know how to best plan. Many of the queues include a pre-show before the actual ride, so the total time from entering the FP line until your butt is in the seat of the ride vehicle may be longer than the "wait time". TouringPlans.com helps a lot for planning the total time you can expect to wait plus the total ride time.

It really depends on the attraction. There are some like Soarin', Test Track, and Space Mountainn where it still takes a decent amount of time. Others like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train are quite short. A big factor is how far you have to walk and the way the attraction loads. You also can't anticipate whether a big crowd will appear with FPs at the same time as you. There's little way around that type of situation.

The line is usually very quick. What can change from ride to ride is where you join the line (aka where the preshow starts) and how long the ride actually takes from that point. FOP took a long time because you go through a few stages of preshows before you get to the actual ride. I get it, it makes the "line" seem shorter, but keep those things in mind. Same for Tower of Terror and other rides with preshows, you join the line at the preshow start, not where you board the ride. So you may be "in line" for 5 minutes, but then it'll take you 20 minutes to actually get on & off the ride, so don't hop in the FP+ line 10 minutes before you have an ADR. Hope that helps with your planning!
