Exactly how does the 180+10 day work?

Is it from my check-in date? I am checking in on 12/28, can I made my NYE reservation today (190 days from NYE) or do I have to wait a week? The CM on the phone said that I could only book today if I checked in on 12/21.

She was correct. At 180 days from your check in date, you can make reservations for 10 consecutive days. My ADR day was yesterday (6/23) and I'm checking in on 12/20.

So, it's not 190 days out, it's 180 (days out) + 10 (days of your trip).

Just found out that the 180+10 doesn't apply to a Yak & Yeti, since it isn't owned by Disney. Have to call back on 6-29.

I still dont get it? Sounds like you can do it 190 before you check in.:confused3

No you can do 190 before the 10th day of your stay - to me, that's a more confusing way of looking at it.

Just calculate 180 days from your CHECK IN date. Then if you're staying for 3 days, you can make ressies for all 3 of your days. If you're staying for 10 days, you can make ressies for all 10 of your days. If you're staying for 15 days, you can only make ressies for the first 10, then you have to call back (day by day, I think - but I never stay that long to worry about it) to make the next 5 days of reservations.

Does that help?

Just remember, if you're off property, you can call 180 days out from your first reservation date, and you can only book for that day. If you're on property, you can call 180 days from your check in date, and you can make 10 consecutive days of reservations.

Thanks for making that clearer. So, you may start making reservations 180 days before your check-in date for any reservations from your check-in through 10 days after your check-in. *sigh* So, my 180 days for my 12/28 check-in is on 7/1. Now I'm gonna flip-flop between Coral Reef and Marrakesh for another 6 days.

If you're staying for 10 days, you can make ressies for all 10 of your days. If you're staying for 15 days, you can only make ressies for the first 10, then you have to call back (day by day, I think - but I never stay that long to worry about it) to make the next 5 days of reservations.

The 180 + 10 policy is very confusing. What is quoted here above is correct. Today is June 25th and we are taking reservations for anyone checking in on 12/22 or before. If your check in day is 12/22 then you can make any reservations for your trip starting with 12/22 and going forward 10 days. So for today the last day I could make an ADR for you would be January 1. That is ten days after your check in date of 12/22. If you are staying through January 3rd for example you would then have to call back on July 4th to make an ADR for January 2 and call back again on July 5 to make one for January 3rd and so on.

That is how the official policy works but I tell you a lot of CM's are very confused by it and give out incorrect information all the time. The other thing to remember is it must be a Disney owned resort you are staying at to participate in the +10 option. Swan, Dolphin, Shades of Green & resorts in the Downtown Disney area are not eligible. One other thing to keep in mind, when you want to use the +10 option you will need to provide your resort reservation number so have that handy when you call. :)

I want to throw a monkey wrench into the works . . .

I want to stay in January 24-31, 2009, splitting my stay between a deluxe resort (first 2 days) and a DVC property for the last 5 days. I can book the deluxe resort now, but cannot sort out the DVC (renting points) until late August, which is beyond my 180 window (July 28th)

Will I be able to make all my ADRs on July 28th, or just the ADRs for the first two days?

if I can only make the first two days on the 28th, can I make a booking at the deluxe resort for the full 7 days, then cancel 5 days and rebook at DVC without losing my ADRs?

I don't know what the rules are, but I can tell you that this week, I made 10 days of reservations on a 1 day resort stay. We are switching the next day to BCV on DVC points for a week. I only gave the 1 night reservation # to the CM. Now I don't know if she can see my DVC reservations or not - some of my DVC stuff shows up on the CRO reservations site for me, some does not. Seems like something new they're doing with linking CRO and DVC reservations, but I don't think it's done yet.

My advice would be to call on your 180 day out, tell the CM which deluxe resort you'll be at the first 2 days, give that CM the reservation # for the deluxe resort & make all 5 days of your dining ADR's. No need to confuse matters with the other resort stay after the 2nd day.

Boy are you right about this! I dealt with 2 CMs who not only gave me wrong information, but were very rude in the process. :( If you find that a CM is confused about this new policy (to the point where they won't book you), just hang up and try a new CM! Don't waste your time, chances are they have been confused for a while and you are not going to be able to explain it differently to them. Fortunately, a rude CM is few and far in between (I made the mistake of arguing the issue). Later I spoke with management (guest relations) who confirmed that the CM had been wrong, and to my knowledge they dealt with it.

In the end, I think this new policy made it easier to get all the ressies I wanted! However, its a bit stressful knowing knowing ahead of time that the CM might not fully understand the policy. :rotfl:

Good luck! :goodvibes
