All I have to say is YUCK! I've noticed he's been getting a bit of a gut lately and he has very bad gas. This was discussed here before and someone mentioned that he might have worms. Well, I have been looking for other signs and yesterday I finally got one. Little things that look like rice stuck to his butt. So, off to the pet store I went to get the medicine. Man, these cats are getting to be very expensive. Just this week:

Neuter, physical and rabies shot $115
Cat carrier $17
Scratching Post $5
Kitty food $6
Cage to put them in at night $50
and now....
Worm medicine $12

Two healthy, spoiled, bratty little kittens that love me unconditionally......Priceless.

So to the person that mentioned the gas being a sign of worms...thank you. Poor little kitty. I'm waiting for the worm to show up in the litter box so I can throw it in the garbage and take it out to the garbage can. Ewww.

Personally I'd take him to the vet on Monday and get some real medicine for it -- I'm not sure those pet store things really work. I've heard more "no's" than "yes's" on that. :(

Not to mention, what you are seeing is just a segment of the worm, not the worm itself.
There is a big worm in there!

P.S. I second the motion for going to the vet. I work for one and most OTC meds you get at pet store or Walmart do not work.
We get a lot of complaints about it. Then they ask how much our meds are and it is pretty comparable.

Good luck!

He may have several worms. When I dissected a cat for my anatomy class, it was full of worms of all sizes. I hope you have success eradicating them.

I had a cat with a tape worm a few years ago. The medicine from the vet cost only $12 and there were only two doses. Cleared it right up.

Ewww yuck. I don't know what's worse. One big long one or lots of them. I'll keep an eye on him. Hopefully I'll be able to tell if the medicine works or not. If not I will call the vet on Monday. Thanks for all the advice. :D

When we got our cat from the shelter, he had tapeworms. A shot of Droncit at the vet and flea treatment for both of our cats (preventitive) and no more problems in 2 years.
