I just got my daily email from realfood4realpeople.com and when I saw the recipe of the day was "Kitty Litter Cake"... well I had to read on. It sounds like a good cake, but I think the visual would be too much for me! I can't even eat lobster out of the shell because the poor things are looking me in the eye... I don't know if I could eat cake that looked like kitty poop! LOL!
Anyways... might be a good Halloween party cake...

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
1 package Cake Mix -- spice or chocolate
1 package Cake Mix -- white
1 pound Vanilla Wafer Cookies
1 large Pudding Mix -- vanilla, instant
2 cups Cool Whip Lite® -- or whipped cream
Green food coloring
12 Small Candy -- Tootsie Rolls
1 *NEW* kitty litter box
1 *NEW* kitty litter box plastic liner
1 *NEW* pooper scooper
Prepare cake mixes and bake according to directions (any size pans). Prepare pudding mix and chill until ready to assemble. Crumble cookies in small batches in a zip baggie, using a rolling pin, until the texture resembles kitty litter. Set aside all but 1/4 cup of crumbs. To the 1/4 cup cookie crumbs, add a few drops green food coloring and mix using a fork or shake in a jar. When cakes are cooled to room temperature, crumble into a large bowl. Toss together with the chilled pudding and cool whip, leaving mixture only partially mixed.
Line new, clean kitty litter box. Put mixture into litter box. Put three unwrapped Tootsie rolls in a microwave safe dish and heat until soft and pliable. Shape ends so they are no longer blunt, curving slightly. Repeat with 3 more Tootsie rolls and bury in mixture. Sprinkle the cookie crumbs over top. Scatter the green cookie crumbs lightly over the top, this is supposed to look like the chlorophyll in kitty litter. Heat remaining Tootsie Rolls, 3 at a time in the microwave until almost melted. Scrape them on top of the cake and sprinkle with cookie crumbs. Serve with a *new* pooper scooper.
