EWP group?

Helenabear, you are sweet to worry about killing this thread but you don't have to worry. We are beyond best friends here. Best friends are people you want to spend every sinlge day with and never miss however Bestest Friends are the kind that go with the flow ard are there when you need them, as you are for them, but they are low maintance and do not require constant, draining attention. We are all carrying this thread and if someone has to deal with the real world from time to time we will pick up their share and hold the fort until they can return. I am counting on you all while I am in the real world park for two weeks in November. I cannot imagine what you will all get up to and can't wait to find out.

Rider, did you hear that the 'Unimagineer" that is considering doing away with and/or 'improving' our favorite ride met with an unfortunate accident? He was going thru the ride looking for dolls to lay off when he was 'accidentally' kicked in the head by one of the Russian Dolls and fell into the water where the crocodile of Peter Pan fame carried him off to the far reaches of AK to be held for a late night snack. He was informed that due to ongoing changes at WDW he was considered expendable and being the true 'company man' that he is/was he understood completely and will submit to his fate like the cold hearted animatronic thing he was/is. I have a feeling that this may at least slow down any forthcoming changes as there does not seem to be another manager at DW that wants to follow in his footsteps. We die hard DIS people are not to be messed with. Others may come and go but we return over and over again and will stick up for our favorite rides, parades and Disney magic moments.

Rafki, you are destroying my diet. Luckily, all this park walking will enable me to enjoy some of your goodies with no ill effects. Who needs the Norway Bakery when we have you? Yummm!!!

Bashful, we are sending pixie dust to you so you will hurry up with the work so you can get to the important stuff -
FUN !!!

Tiggersmom, Did you know that there is scuttlebutt that Figment is coming back and in a big way? I rode the ride last trip and was not impressed. I liked the old ride better but as long as they bring Figment back with the Professor I will be most pleased. Rider and I have begun digging from the middle toward your ends so we can get this canal done in short order. I think this will be a vast improvement to our resort area and be a great addition to the World. Hope they appreciate our efforts.

Cathy, Can you not use your powers to save our rides and parades? I hear you have awesome powers to curb unjustice and defend the Mouseketeer's Way. We will be your soldiers and you can lead the way. At your service

Slightly Goofy

ROFL Slightly Goofy!! General CC, has a nice ring to it.....NOT!!
Powers, influence, I WISH!! LOL
Hmm, sounds like the beginnings of a new thread though.........
CC

Yes! Yes! General CC - please save the Carousel of Progress, too! I cannot fathom that anyone was ever thinking of shutting that wonderful attraction down! If (God forbid) IASW and CoP were ever to be displaced, I think that they should wind up back where they started - at the NY World's Fair Grounds in Flushing, Queens! Then people would still be able to enjoy them and they would have a home where Walt first placed them! But I hope that it would never come to that - they need to be at WDW and DL (in the case of IASW), where they belong!

"Bestest Friends" - I love that, SlightlyGoofy! I enjoy staying in touch with all of you in our Suite! :)

Good riddance to that Unimagineer! I'm glad that he met with the appropriate "fate"! I hope that he is enjoying running around the AK and trying to escape the stampeding ostriches, as we speak! Now I can leave my IASW post and return to the Suite for some relaxation (and hopefully "seconds" of Rafiki Rafiki Rafiki's dessert!). Break out the Diet Coke, here I come! :)

Rider, I see I am not the only one who knows that if you drink a diet drink with a rich dessert they cancel each other out. Anything eaten while standing does not count. Holidays do not count. Vacations do not count. Anything you eat while on vacation (DW naturally) during a holiday break and standing while watching a parade not only does not put on weight but will actually cause you to lose weight. You can trust me, h onest. (evil grin)

Ahhh, Cathy. You are one brave soul to take on the responsibility of leading this brave band of merry maids on their crusades. Since you are one of the original founders of this site I know we will be well taken care of. Heaven knows we need some sort of structure as we tend to wander off the path and find new adventures wherever we go in this life or the real ones.

Anyone up for a weekend jaunt to Vero Beach? I was just checking out the newly posted menus down there and think it is something we should check into. I believe that the shuttle will be by about 7 to depart on our adventure.

Slightly Goofy

I'll go! I've never been to Vero Beach before, and the photos of the resort in Disney Magazine looked great!

Climb aboard Rider! I packed my bathingsuit. Before I put it on I must file an environmental impact statement though. LOL

I am looking forward to checking this place out. Wonder if any of our roomates have ever been here? I hope so. It is always fun to go with someone who can lead us to the best spots.

Slightly Goofy

PS Just noticed that I went from a visitor to a veteran. How did I do that? Some much to learn, so little brain power! :jester:

Vero Beach is lovely. Quite peaceful, nice rooms. :)

Just want to correct that I was not a founder of the site, Pete Werner is the genius who did that! :)

I was one of the original board moderators when it got to larger than the 3 boards though.

Ready to join y'all in Vero Beach, and the snacks in the Green Cabin room (? right name) lounge are yummy.

CC

Oops, I am so sorry Cathy. I did not state it very well. I think it is still awesome that you were here from almost the start. It must have been very exciting. This forum is by and far the best on Disney that there is IMHO.

Are you going to be our guide around Vero Beach? I hope so as I tend to get lost very easily and would hate to end up far from my intended destination. What kind of entertainment do they have?

I hope I can keep my eyes open as I had a very late night last night.

As a Webmaster do you get free trips to WDW? If so, I may have to start working hard toward getting a job with you all. I have to support my habit (WDW) somehow. LOL

Slightly Goofy

SG, Pay? Free trips? I wish!! LOL No this is strictly volunteer. :)

I'd love to be the tour guide, I know my way to the pool and the beach and back to the pool to the pool snack bar, then the resort. Is that ok? :)
CC

Good evening Cathy

Volunteer? Gawrsh, I do enough of that kind of work already. Am rich in good wishes but low on cash (recently retired). LOL The best part of volunteering is that you get to pick what youwant to do and you sure picked well.

I should warn you that my DS and her DH are headed your way the end of October. I am so happy for them as they don't get to travel much and have had a hard few years with sick family members. I can't wait for them to tell me about their trip. Hope you survive their visit. After all they are 'Slightly Goofy' also.

Vero Beach has nothing but a pool and a beach? Lucky I brought some friends with me so I will have something to do (talk, chat, visit and converse). LOL

Slightly Goofy

SlightlyGoofy, I am so glad that you are Goofy through-and-through. I would have really been upset if I had to call Mr. Eisner to tell him that the quiz was incorrect. Glad to know that it was perfect. I have never been to Vero Beach before and am looking forward to experiencing it with you and the rest of the gang. I have read such nice things about it.

IASW Rider, I am glad that you are back with us. I thought I should mention that when you first disappeared, I was very worried. I asked our secret, resident, semimonthly Mountie (aka, WebmasterCathyCanada) to help find you. Of course she immediately agreed to help (I think she was especially excited about the possibility of hijacking one of the horses from Cinderella’s coach in her quest to find you). I should also mention that Rafiki Rafiki Rafiki immediately began working on a “special” cake that would contain a large file. She was going to bake it and then give it to Helenabear, who in turn was going to hand-carry it over to the IASW ride, whereupon she was going to turn it over to Amzey and Angelina, who were going to get into the last row of one of the ride boats. As their boat was to approach the African land (your last known whereabouts), they were going to catch your attention and then somehow deliver the cake to you. You were supposed to eat the marvelous concoction (in order to get your strength up) and then take the file and begin whittling away at the dolls, one doll at a time, until eventually all the dolls were dismantled. At that time Private Dining Cast Member Don Juan and Concierge Cast Member Kas A. Nova were going to begin secretly removing the dismantled dolls (note how I am not saying “dismembered” dolls – that’s a very subtle difference) and ferreting them over to our resort, whereupon they would load the dolls onto our private elevator and bring them up to our suite’s “It’s A Small World” shrine. Now that you’ve safely returned, thankfully we can put an end to those plans. Of course I will file them away on my computer. One never knows when another ride will be threatened with extinction and our plans may be called into action again (with minor tweaking, of course).

Rafiki Rafiki Rafiki, I haven’t had so much fun painting in years. I hope you didn’t get too upset with the fact that no matter what I tried, I just could not stay within the lines. I hope my sign was still readable. And I am salivating at the thought of your latest dessert concoction. My goodness. Where on Earth do you come up with such delectable delights? I couldn’t cook if my life depended on it. I am so glad that you are one of our suitemates. You must tell us what kitchen equipment you need added to our EWP Suite. And if you have a china preference, I’d love to hear it, too. I think the current china in our suite is a little too boring for our gang of groupies, don’t you agree?

Bashful64, I heard there were some slight hiccups with your current thinking as to the route the canal should take. Tiggersmom mentioned that she thinks the route should zig at that point instead of zag. Please contact her for the reasoning behind her zig-zag theory. She was last seen headed down to the pool with her rubber duckie.

Now for some updates: WebmasterCathyCanada, the Disney computer experts have installed the latest anti-virus protection software, as well as the latest firewall; our suite’s computers should be safe now. Rafiki Rafiki Rafiki, the Jacuzzi Brothers (aka, Disney Imagineering) couldn’t get our Jacuzzi tub installed today. Something about them being called to an “emergency meeting” at the “large watering hole” over there in the Magic Kingdom. I have it on good authority, however, that the “large watering hole” is really their codename for the “It’s A Small World” ride. It seems that someone high-up at WDW called them in to find a way to make sure that another sit-in would never happen again. I’m not too worried about that because I have it on good authority that as soon as they make it over to the Magic Kingdom, they will find that their “emergency meeting” has been "cancelled." Little do they know that we have our very own WDW spies amongst us who are helping us with our “SAVE IASW” campaign. And speaking of those WDW spies, I have a call in to Private Dining right now for those ice cold lemonades and chocolate covered strawberries that we so love. I’ll see everyone out on the balcony in a few minutes for the sunrise.

Ice cold lemonade, chocolate covered strawberries and sunrise.......mmmmmmm what a great combination and the best way to start the day until Paige cooks up one of her delectable concoctions.. :)
CC

Janet, you just make my day. Life is never boring with you around. I think you know more of what is going on around here than the people who are in charge. I believe that we may just have to take over the next shareholder meeting and demand that you be elected to a top position in WDW management.

I fear that Rider will get so caught up on the link to the Disney Wedding and Honeymoon ideas that we will have a hard time getting her attention. I think I saw her wandering around by the pool with a dreamy look in her eyes. We will have to watch to make sure she does not fall in and drown. In her present state she would not notice.

I think that Paige should let Don and Kass in on her cooking secrets before she becomes a slave to our appetites and does not have time to get out and about with the rest of us. Don and Kass are the very souls of descrection and would never hijack her ideas nor give them to others. I cannot wait for the Bakeoffs and know that Paige will be front and center at the end of the day.

I am stuffed from the buffet at Sonya's. Haven't made up my mind if I should go back for dinner tonight or give Shutters a try. Choices, oh my. I think I am getting the vapors. Best lay back in the lounge with my favorite book and clear the stress from my mind. Feel free to splash all you want. T he cool water feels great.

Slightly Goofy

Whew...Hi everyone. Just checking in. How is everyone this fine day? One more day and I should be back in residence at the EWP suite with you all.

Dear Bashful

We have been wondering when you would be able to join us again. Just not the same without you. As you can see our members have been up to some rabblerousing, all for a good cause of course. Worn out from all our activity we had to take a quick weekend trip to Vero Beach for a little R&R, We will be ready for your return and are anxious to see your smiling face again ASAP.

Slightly Goofy

Thank you for saving me from almost falling into the pool, SlightlyGoofy! It's an unfortunate habit of mine to almost fall into large bodies of water, as Janet2K knows (hee hee!)!

Sorry for the brief absence, my Friends - had to leave Vero Beach temporarily for the "real world", where I have been plagued by sinus headaches / migranes and have also been working on cleaning out my garage and closets so that DF can start bringing things over to my house to store (maybe all that cleaning and organizing has brought on the headaches?! Hee hee!) I have now returned to the Suite, however, and I immensely enjoyed our trip to the Vero Beach resort! The pool, the beach, the resort, and the snack bar were great for me, Webmaster / General CC and SlightlyGoofy! Those are all the "things" I need for a great vacation! (In fact, I did actually take a vacation like that, once. A few years ago, I was going through a rough time - pre-DF - my mother had just gotten sick, was hospitalized, and had recently been released, I had just gotten "dumped" by the person whom I had been dating for 8 months, I had a very frustrating "dead end job", all of my girlfriends were getting married or having babies, I felt really alone and began wondering what my life "meant" and what I wanted for myself, and I just needed to get away by myself. So I just took off for a week in the Bahamas, alone - I had never done that before! Spent the entire time moving back and forth from the pool to the beach, reading, listening to music, keeping to myself, thinking my thoughts. It was wonderful and very therapeutic! I also learned how to become comfortable dining in formal restaurants by myself, without the aid of something to read as a "crutch" - I forced myself to do that, every night. The trip was really good for me! In fact, it was the prelude to my one and only trip to WDW by myself.....which took place a few months later. Being at WDW by myself was a great and interesting experience. I knew the parks by heart and really felt at home, so I felt really comfortable from the start. I struck up conversations with a few guests and CM's, occasionally, but basically it was me and my video camera for the entire trip! That's when I was able to videotape all of my favorite attractions and really concentrate on "documenting" them. I even went to the Luau at the Poly by myself! And I watched the EWP by myself (and videotaped it, too!) several times, as well!I learned that there really is something to be said for travelling alone. Not that I would want to do that forever, but the trips were really interesting experiences and really good for me. And I was able to tour WDW at my own pace and do what I wanted when I wanted, which was great! Since I am so familiar with the parks, I was able to zip through them and see what I wanted to see relatively quickly and efficiently, and still be able to rest when I wanted to. The following year, DF and I went together - his first time at WDW - a nice contrast, 'cause then I was able to act as "tour guide" and show him all of my favorite things, and take time for the entire parks. Now he considers himself an "expert", too, and we pick and choose our favorite things while still maintaining the "traditions" of my childhood.....like riding IASW before anything else!:) )

Oops - I digress! :)

Thank you, Janet2K for coordinating a SAVE IASW effort! I'm sorry if I inconvenienced you, Webmaster / General CC, Rafiki Rafiki Rafiki, Helenabear, Amzey, or Angelina by leaving my "post"! I would love to have seen that "special dessert" containing the file, and to have watched Don and Kas bring the IASW dolls to safety! Fortunately, SlightlyGoofy came through with the latest update in the nick of time! I am so glad to have been able to join all of you in Vero Beach and to now be relaxing in our Suite, in anticipation of the completion of our jacuzzi! I have now abanodoned the Diet Coke in favor of a bottle of wine, however......it's been a long week!:)

And thanks so much for posting the link to the new wedding and honeymoon board, Janet 2K! I didn't realize that it was there! I really enjoyed looking at it and reading several romantic WDW proposal stories, and finding a web site with many WDW wedding stories, web sites, and photos! I love reading other people's stories - I even got teary-eyed and choked up reading a few of them! Thanks again! I am going to send the link to DF. He has been wanting to start posting on The DIS Boards for awhile.....but has been waiting to discover the perfect "DIS name" under which to do so!

Congratulations on becoming a "Veteran", SlightlyGoofy! :) I was very excited when my "status" changed, as well, and I'm very happy for you!:)

Welcome back, Bashful64! I'm sure that everything is going wonderfully! I'm sure that you'll need to relax, once you have completed your project. Don - please bring this lady a nice cold drink!

I apologize for rambing on and then leaving, but I think that we all need to get our rest for our big day, tomorrow! I will spend the rest of the evening "psyching myself up" for my first ride on Splash Mountain with Helenabear (get ready, SlightlyGoofy!) and for my subsequent cinematography / digital photography lesson by Janet2K!

Hope that all is well with all of you! Take care and have a great week!:)

WebmasterCathyCanada, the sunrise was especially beautiful this morning, wasn’t it? Okay, enough with the pleasantries – I heard that it was you who finished off Rafiki Rafiki Rafiki’s home-baked goodies late last night. Come on, ‘fess up! And don’t try to pull the wool over my eyes because I found a trail of crumbs leading down the hall all the way to your bedroom. You don’t have to be a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to figure that one out (if that ain’t evidence, I don’t know what is). The next time you go on a late-night binge, please give me a call. (hee hee!)

SlightlyGoofy, I guess I should have thought twice before I posted the link to the Dis’ honeymoon page. I never gave it a second thought. I can see IASW Rider’s deer-caught-in-a-headlight eyes right now. Gosh, and to think that with all the water around, especially the “large watering hole” over there in the MK, I sure put her life in jeopardy. I will try not to be so careless in the future. Did you read on the Community board that Sonjarella and WillyJ are going to get married in December? Yep, love is everywhere on the Dis. First there was IASW Rider’s engagement and now Sonja & Willy’s. Wow! I’d be careful, if I were you, at how I looked at Private Dining Cast Member Don Juan or Concierge Cast Member Kas A. Nova the next time that you bumped into them. They are both single and with all the love in the air over here on the Dis, well, you just never know what compromising situations you might find yourself in.

Bashful64, I am so glad to hear that you’ll be joining us shortly. I may have to disappear for a few days and it pleases me to know that our resident canal expert will be back and working on the canal full bore.

IASW Rider, so your fiancé wants to begin posting on the Dis, how fun! My husband hates computers, which works out quite nicely for me – it gives me full access to my home computer (well, not full access, I still have to battle my teenage son for it since he hates my laptop and much prefers my full-blown computer). Just last night while I was posting on the Dis so very, very late, my husband woke up and said, “Are you communicating with your boyfriend again?” I said, “No, I’m having way more fun than that, I’m communicating with my buddies on the Dis!” He rolled over and went back to sleep. I think my laughing at everyone’s posts was the reason that he woke up in the first place. I’ll have to remember to laugh more quietly in the future.

Updates: Rafiki Rafiki Rafiki’s little sister just began posting on the Dis. Her Disname is “A Bear of Very Little Brain.” I would love to see the look on the police officer’s face who pulls her over for a traffic violation – I wonder if the officer could keep a straight face while reading her driver’s license. What a hoot! (hee hee) And speaking of Rafiki Rafiki Rafiki, since we are enjoying all the concoctions that she has been creating for us, I saw it fitting (excuse the pun) that we begin following the new feature that the Dis will begin offering on Wednesday, August 1st. Yes, the GETTING FIT FOR DISNEY feature. Here’s the link to the thread on the “Inspiration” board that is the precursor to the new feature’s start date: http://www.disboards.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=549430#post549430
By the way, even I posted a question in that thread for Sky.

Hi Everyone!

Isn't that great news about Willy J and Sonjarella? I completely missed the post until you pointed it out, Janet2K - thanks! And thanks for letting us know about Rafiki Rafiki Rafiki's sister's post, as well - I hope that she will join us in the EWP Suite soon!

I am also looking forward to the Getting Fit features - very good idea!

Sorry that this is such a short one, but while I'm lounging by our private pool and sipping a margarita.......I'm also trying to finish up my work (yuck) in the "real world".:(

Hope that everyone is having a nice day! :)

Hi all... sorry I was away for so long. After taking a day for the Columbus Zoo, I had to do some "real life" work yesterday. The zoo was absolutely fabulous. It has changed so much in the last few years I've been there. We have "Jungle" Jack Hanna as our zoo guy and he really has made the zoo very nice. It has a lot of lush vegitation everywhere and they do their best to make sure the animals are in nice homes. It had a little feel of Animal Kingdom to it as well. There were winding paths you could get lost in and the sidewalks had little animal prints here and there. I forget how wonderful the Columbus Zoo is compared to some places.

IASW Rider, I wanted to wish you a congrats on your upcoming wedding. I only wish that board had been there when I was planning my wedding... of course the DIS never seems to stop growing ;) If you ever need advice or to vent... I just went through it less than a year ago so it is all fresh in my mind.

Well I am glad I have gotten a few people braver about rides... can't wait to plan to go on them with you. I wish I could stay and chat but my wonderful DH got me dinner... what a wonderful man I have... now if I could only convince him to take me to WDW in December :D
