EWP group?

I just wanted you to know we are running a test on the load that the server would take if we used the EWP Groupie clipart from our other homepage. We are testing with me and if it isn't too harsh, then I will let you all know how to do it! So this is the official test and I will let you all know tomorrow how it goes.

Helenabear, you have so much computer talent. Guess I'll just have settle for being the 'pretty' one. ROTFLMAO

Oh Sure I set it up on MY Homepage using MY FTP Client using MY account and she gets all the credit. :D

OK, Luis I bow to YOUR expertise. I am so flattered that my big mouth was the one that got you to speak up!!! You should go back a read some of the posts of how wonderfully Helenabear speaks of you and you will be gratified.

It will be funny to have a guy around the suite that is not employed to wait us hand and foot but I am sure we will get over it. Just ignore us if we request service AND quick!!!! (smile)

That's my sweetie... doing good things for his Dearest Wife ;)

And if he had listened more carefully to what I said, I said that WE were testing this, not I... so I gave him some credit right ;)

Helenabear, you have so much computer talent. Guess I'll just have settle for being the 'pretty' one. ROTFLMAO

Now now SG, I have to tell you one thing. I have hear all you have had to say and I have even seen pictures of you and if you aren't a beautiful woman, then I don't know who is :D

Ahhh, if I could only train my own DH as easily. (grin)

OH MY GOD, IT'S LUIS!!!!! HE'S HERE!!!!!! THE FIRST "REAL MAN" IN OUR SUITE!!!!!

HI LUIS!!!!! :) :) :)

Welcome to the EWP Suite! Come on in and make yourself at home - Elaine will show you around and introduce you to our "staff"!

Angelina - I forgot to comment, when you mentioned who provided the entertainment at the ball, the other night - I'm sorry that you missed KC and the Sunshine Band and The Doobie Brothers - those are both 2 of my favorite bands, and I've seen them both in concert several times. It's so neat that they were both there! Did you get to participate in any of the festivities last night? How is your DD's finger doing?

Hi SG! Sorry that we missed eachother, yesterday! :(

Sorry that this is such a short one, but I have to run to a meeting.

Hope that you're all having a nice day! :)

Dear Rider, I am sure that Dan "The Man" Murphy will forgive your unintentional slight in forgetting that he was the first man willing to brave this den of feminity. HOWEVER Luis may be the first man willing and able to withstand the blast of estogen more than for an occasional visit. How about that Luis? Are you strong enough? I have a feeling he is. Being intelligent enough to chose Helenabear as a life partner and being of a quality that she was willing to chose him says a lot about him already.

People, I am so old that I remember when KC and the Sunhine Band were newly on the scene. I often tease my children that their generation is so devoid of talent that they can only cover the songs from MY youth. Growing up in the 60's was an interesting time. It is a shame I was too occupied with trying to keep a roof over my head to participate in much of it. LOL

While I missed out on the bra burnings, civil rights marches and important things I also missed out on the drugs and so I can REMEMBER the 60's so it was not alllllll bad.

My DD went back to work yesterday, part time. She is one tough girl.

I told the boys, when I picked them up, that on the last day of school I would take them out to eat. Wyatt piped up with the expected McD's but then my precocious grandson piped up with Red Lobster. Being the leader that he is it ended with my promising to take these two little boys to Red Lobster instead of the more budget minded McD's. Better start saving up as the last time Dalton wanted a lobster!!!

Hi, everyone. I've started to reply several times but have either lost my connection (thanks, AOL) or have had to attend to something else before I could finish. We've been to a couple of parades and are hoping to go to another tonight after my daughter's basketball game. The finger is on, just bruised a little, so she can still dribble a ball. My dh was really worried about that, because she's an agressive player, which thrills him, but makes me cringe. The first time I went to her basketball game, instead of cheering, I was telling her she couldn't just take the ball away from the little girl on the other team!

Rider, keep your eyes opened for your care package--I'm sending it out today.

The other night when I said we missed the first parade, we didn't have tickets to that ball, so we couldn't have seen the bands anyway. I had heard, but forgotten, that they were playing at the ball. A lot of times when an organization is having a really big anniversary, they will bring in a big name band or group, but don't say who until a few days before, and by then, it's too late to get tickets. We had a lot of fun Thursday night, though. I took the kids downtown for the parade, then came home and got ready for the ball, which didn't actually start until 11. It's been years since we've been to a ball, and my poor feet could really tell! They've forgotten what it's like to wear high heels!

SG, you might enjoy doing a search on Fairhope, AL as you look for a place to live. It's a beautiful little town on the other side of the Bay, and is very quaint. A lot of retirees live in the area, and it's one of only 2 places in the world in which jubilees occur.

Helenabear, I'm so glad you were able to get Luis to join us! You're one lucky girl.

I'm off to run a few errands before the game this afternoon. I hope all of you have a great weekend.

Angelina

Hi there everyone!

I am sure Dan will forgive being forgotten that he was here. I had the pleasure of talking to him on the phone Thursday night (the same night Luis was here). He is a very nice and very chatty guy. He reminds me a lot of my dad (of course a good thing) and I can't wait until I meet him in person. He did say he has peeked in here and thought we were a very nice group of people. It is neat being able to make friends through the DIS and I am very greatful to have you all.

I have so much to do and so little time so forgive if I over look saying something right now that I want to ;)

Angelina, it sounds like you are having an absolutely wonderful time at all the parties. I am sorry you didn't get to see KC & The Sunshine Band and the Doobie Brothers. They are both very good and I enjoy their music a lot... but then again there isn't many types of music I won't listen too :D I am so glad to hear that DD's finger is good enough to play basketball. I used to love to play and I was always an agressive player and I will assure you that the only thing I kept doing was jamming my finger one way or another. But obviously that hasn't hindered my typing skills ;)

Rider, I think Luis would be appalled at all we have here if I gave him the grand tour all at once, so he is going to see it little by little ;)

SG, I hope you have a good time with the boys at Red Lobster. My sister used to always try to go there, until she became vegitarian. So at least now we save a little $$. I am not too fond of that place only because they have very little other than sea food and that is one thing you won't get me to eat unless I am forced to. Even then it is hard for me to do.

Well tonight Luis & I go out dancing. So I shouldn't hang in here too long since I need to wash my hair in time for me to dry it and style it. I think I know what I am going to do and hopefully it will turn out right. I am going to pull it back in a lower ponytail and then make little braids and kind of weave them around to make a bun shape. I am all set to do that and hopefully it won't take me too long to do. I tried it once today with four braids but I might go for six braids. Ah me, the joys of long hair.

We had a little birthday celebration with my family and that was fun. My sister got me a Pooh frame and I got a few things for my GameCube. I also got a book and some cash which in turn bought me a new watch today. It is a silver mesh band watch with a black dial and crystal markers. It is very much like the nice one my brother bought me for graduation but this one isn't so nice that I can't wear it every day.

This morning I was very much in the mood to go out and walk around the malls. It was a beautiful day. I think it was near 40 and it was sunny. Absolutely beautiful!!! So I walked around and walked in a Nordtrums for the first time ever. I don't think I'll be shopping there as everything looked way too expensive. I think I'll stick to my "cheap" stores :D Well I had better head off to the shower. I hope you all are enjoying your weekend!

Helenabear, the finger is much better, but we missed the game. It seems there was a mix up with the scheduling, and we have an old schedule. DD is devastated, as she loves to play, but it also means we will head "over the bay' to a parade tonight.

I hope you and Luis have a wonderful time tonight. You sound so excited. We are having a good time, too. I love Mardi Gras, but my dh really doesn't. He will go with us, though. Last night I had planned to take the kids and meet up with some friends, and leave him at home to relax and finish up some work. He came in from work just as we were leaving, and decided to go with us. The good thing about Mardi Gras in Mobile is that it is much safer than N.O. and more family oriented. I feel perfectly save going by myself (i.e. without a man) as long as I can park in a well lighted area close to the beginning of the parade route near an area where police are plentiful. As a matter of fact, police officers from all over the southeast, especially Charleston, SC come to Mobile to train in crowd control, etc. during the holiday. Our mounted police unit trained with the same unit in Charleston, too. There are other areas of downtown that I would NOT go to, period, but all in all it is very safe.

Well, I am going to put the little one down for a nap if I can--maybe I can catch a few winks, too. Have a great afternoon.

I have been taking a virtual tour of the area near where Angelina lives and I must say it is one of the prettiest places I have ever seen. The housing prices are very affordable and they even have my DH's favorite restaurant.

Talking to Dan "The Man" huh, Helenabear? Wow. He is a very nice man and so generous. I met him at the Indy meet and he brought MM keychains for everyone. I managed to get two and my youngest grandson stole one from me. I think you wise not to let Luis see everything as being a man he would be tempted to spend far too much time playing with all the gadgets. LOL

Hey, Angelina just snuck in and back out without me seeing her. I know I am hard of hearing but sure did not know I was hard of seeing as well.

Dell sent me notification that my new computer is on it's way and since it is coming from Nashville it should not take too long. If I am missing in action for a few days it will be because I have never had to swap files from computer to computer before. I have been saving up some things for all you cat lovers out there and will attempt to post them here for you to peruse while I work away at uncluttering this machine in preparation for the transformation.

Hi there everyone! I finally got a chance to get in here today and say hi to everyone. We had a wonderful time at the church dance. For some, when I say church dance, it means an okay time with okay music. For us we have a great time with an auction to raise money for the church & then a fabulous dance. Oh and we even serve alcohol there... oh my a church function with alcohol ;) I do have a few pictures of me and only me because my camera's batteries died. So once I recharge the battery I will post a link to them. The auction was wonderful. The head coach for OSU football was there and since this church is full of OSU fans he was warmly welcomed. They did two acutions with him. One a football with his signature, and two a dinner with the winner Mr. Tressell & his wife. It was amazing because dinner with the coach & wife got up to $3800 in a friendly bidding war between two people. The bids jumped from $1900 to $3000 at one point. Mr. Tressell finally agreed that if both parties agreed to $2500, he'd go out to dinner on two separate occasions (one with each bidder). Who'd have thought that one man could help bring in so much money. I did get his autograph and got to talk to him briefly! Not only is he a good coach, he is a good man and I am glad we have such a good guy at my alma mater.

SG, I love your post & link to the cats. That is just adorable. Luis and I got a big kick out of that. And yes, I have been chatting with Mr. Murphey. He is a nice guy. We have been PMing back and forth since I got married (he had the nicest post for me in honor of my wedding). And he finally asked for my phone number and called me. I am very glad to have people like all you and him here on the DIS. Of course there are so many more wonderful people here too!

I must be tired because I am not very talkative right now ;) I hope you all are having a great weekend!

Thanks for the 'nice guy' comments, Sg and Elaine.

How did you finally wear your hair, Elaine???

Hi all again!

I am sorry to say that the front pictures of me didn't quite turn out good enough to post, but the one of the back of my hair (a close up) turned out quite well. I am sure there will be more of me all dressed up but at least you get to see what I did with my hair. I did put my hair in a ponytail and then made four braids and kind of wove the braids together on the back of my head. It took me ten minutes (literally it did... very quick), and that is what I wore last night. You can see what my dress fabric looked like (simple line in general, with a nice scoop neck) and you can also see my jewelry. I love the earrings :earsgirl: I wore the necklace at my wedding and I spent forever looking for matching earrings and when I couldn't find my own, I made my own to match the style of the necklace. I was very pleased when I saw my favorite mouse had decided to join me :D Okay without further ado here is the link to my hair. Since geocities is being rather unfriendly this evening, that one no longer works so I removed it and you will have to see it here.

Hey there Dan "The Man"

Picture looks a bit like you with the smile and all but is way toooooo short! LOL I wish I had spent more time with more people at the Indy meet. Being hard of hearing it is very difficult for me to carry on a face to face conversation. Must be why I enjoy the computer so much!! Hope you and yours are doing fine and have had many more trips under your belt since I first met you. BTW We are hunting for reasonable housing with easy access to DW for a couple months this fall. Since you are a well travelled man and especially knowledgeable about that part of the the world might you know where I would look to find such accomodations? I have searched the web and have found loads of upscale, executive type vacation homes available for large amounts a week but we have more modest needs and means. Any help would be very appreciated. SG/Linda

Helenabear, not feeling like talking? You must be sick girl!! I hope not though. I went from a tiny Presbyterian church to a huge Catholic church in Indy and was very surprised to find alcohol and rock music. They had 'guitar masses' in those days. Make a joyful noise!!!

We had a very sad happening in our town. There was a very sweet girl who worked at the local library this summer. She had married right after she graduated last year. She was to have started work full time at the library yesterday but she was killed in a freak auto accident on Friday. She was only 19. I know that things like this happen so that we appreciate life but when it happens to someone so sweet and young who had not had time to live a life it is almost beyond understanding.

We are having very unusual weather here. It is awful just north of us but we are having dry, sunny and sometimes downright springtime weather. I have daffidills that are on the verge of blooming. I am afraid that other parts of the country are getting our share of winter. Bless the hills of Brown County for keeping the ill winds away somewhat. (grin)

Angelina is off to see her kids participate in a parade. Bet she is having a lovely time. I think she should be appointed to the chamber of commerce for her very good salesmanship of Alabama and it's delights. The town of Fairhope is becoming somewhat of a topic of conversation around here. The web page shows it to be one of the most lovely towns I have ever seen and I have seen quite a few in my time.

I have to go dish up a Brownie sundae to DH who has not had a dessert in over an hour and is pining away for the lack thereof. (grin)

No SG, I am not sick... just tired. Our dance ended at 1:00 AM and we still had to go to church this morning. It is funny you mentioned rock music at the Catholic church. Luis plays drumset at church on Sundays :D

That is truly a very sad story you shared SG. You are right, it really makes one appreciate life.

I could have swore that I caught a bit of a post about something about the nice things Luis does but it just flashed before my eyes and disappeared. Not sure if it were an old one or a new one that you took back, Helenabear. I love your hair. Simple is best IMHO. You have very pretty hair and would not want to hide the fact.

I am glad that you liked the cat things. From time to time someone sends me something like that. Hope you liked the Hamster one I sent you. I roared with laughter. It was so strange it HAD to be true. LOL

Figures that Luis would beat the drums at church. Did you know that a long time ago it was considered bad to have any music in most churches, then when music was allowed it had to be a monotone in order to show the proper respect. Now IMHO church music should rock!!! I know that if we are bad we go to Hell and I don't mind being reminded of that from time to time however I would rather go to a church where we are reminded of the joys that He has given us and means for us to avail ourselves of all the glories. There is a lady in the choir at the Baptist church that I love to watch. I cannot hear much but I find myself enraptured at her cause she not only sings but she puts her whole body into a song. I must write her a note and tell her how lovely that is. I am putting off the inevitable but I fear the Baptist church is not for me, at least not this one. The list of people who will not be at the Pearly Gates includes all but themselves and I just cannot get behind that theory. They did finally answer my question about women ministers. They are 'allowed' but they just have never had one. I can live with that as there is room for hope. It would be sexist of me to demand that a woman be hired as much as it would be sexist to demand that they NOT be hired. Such lovely people go there not to mention my dear grands but I feel like a hyprocrite sitting there when I disagree with such a fundamental part of their philosophy. No, I do not expect to find a church that believes each and every tiny little thing that my strange mind does but I have to believe the basics. IMHO

I have a cousin who is a lay minister in her Catholic church so the Church has come a long way since my days. She had 7 kids in 8 years and found a preist who was a bit more lenient than some others in the late 60's. It was wierd as I left home as the oldest of 9 kids and moved into a family with 7 kids. A big change. LOL

I hope you get some much needed rest tonight Helenabear. Sounds like you had a fun time getting worn out though.
