Casey's Here I Come

What a surprise I had at the surgeons today. My appointment was for 9:30, he spent barely any time with me and sent me to the specialized surgeon. He saw me at 1:00pm. This was supposed to be a routine follow-up right? lol. Along comes the needle "aka novocaine", and along comes a biopsy. After he had me all prepped he said, we can do this over at the hospital and sedate you some. When he gave me the novocaine, I didn't budge and I think he thought I passed out or something. I just said I am practising my relaxing techniques. But, I will tell you it did hurt. Lots!!

Anyway, the good thing is, I'll have the report back by the end of the week and I don't have to wait for another appointment to go back and have the biopsy. Whew. So, things turned out good for now.

I will join you all at Casey's for a brief time. heee heee need some rest after that.

Helenabear, what a day you had, glad it turned out good on your part. I'm sure it can get frustrating at times. It's nice that it wasn't your error and it wasn't good that that guy yelled at you over it.

Rider, yes, I agree about the bridge to Tomorrowland, we happened upon it completely by mistake and we were in the right place at the right time. We saw Tink fly through the sky and everything. I even had tears in my eyes.

SG, so glad you got a good nights sleep, sounds like you certainly needed it. Make sure you are rested taking care of yourself before your trip so you will be healthy for your vacation.

CC, It's nice to see another person here, how was your cruise, how many people in your family went? I'd like to go on the 7 day one with my DH and 4 children.

Have a joyous evening everyone.

Jstmee, you are such a wonderful person to be in here and posting to let us know how you are. We really appreciate it. You will have to spend some extra time in here to take your mind of waiting for the results. I have been thru this a few times and I know how it goes. Just remember, if you don't hear anything it is good news. They are awfully fast with the other kind. They are awfully careful so they send you to specialists for the least reason nowadays. Not a bad thing tho. Did you get a lolly pop for being good during the shot? I hope it was one of those giant MM ones. You deserve the best. We will keep on sending those good vibrations your way.

I am thinking of going to the EWP on November 3rd. Things might change but that is the date I have planned and I would enjoy having you guys with me, in spirit if I cannot get your real selves. I am going to take the advice and plant myself on a bench at the brige for the fireworks. I send DH for snacks and drinks and I stake out the seats. I are meaner looking than he is. LOL He got hurt on one trip looking for a good place to watch the parade and I don't let him wander far.

May I join you at Casey's? Not hungry but sure would enjoy the conversation.

9 days and counting!!!

That sounds like quite an ordeal, Jstmee! I'm sure you're glad that that's over, and I'm sure that you will be hearing some good news, soon. I hope that everything is all right - I'm sure that it will be. I agree with SG - they send you to specialists at the drop of a hat, these days (God knows I have been to many, recently!). But I'm sure that the tests that they did were just precautionary and that everything will be just fine!

Oh good - November 3rd is a Saturday, and I'm pretty sure that I will be home that night, so I will be certain to have my tape ready at 9:00PM, so that I can experience the EWP with you, "virtually", SG! I still say that the best place from which to see it is the dock at the Poly....though that's a sentimental favorite spot of mine! There are other good places from which to see it, too - I'm sure that you'll find a good one!

Well, back to work - UGH. Hope that you're all having a nice day! :)

Hi everyone. I hope you all are having a great day especially in spite of this ugly weather we seem to be having here. I am certainly happy not to have to live with my bad allergies anymore (I still have a little residual coughing but not bad at all) and I am glad not to have to take anymore pills. The only bad thing is people around here seem to be getting colds so I hope I don't have to get that now!

Jstmee, I am so glad your procedure is overwith now as sometimes the worst part is having to wait and dread the procedure itself. I hope for good news for you and I am sure all will be well!

SG, you are down to the SDD (single digits dance) and boy am I envious of you for that. I wish I had a copy of the EWP because I would watch it with you if I could. But I will be there in spirit!

I am glad all of you could join at Casey's. I don't know why but I love those huge all-beef hotdogs they serve at WDW. They make all other hot dogs pail in comparison. It was nice to have so many join even just for the conversation which always is good here :D

Well I should get back to work now :( It was great to pop in for a quick lunch served by our beautiful men :D

You're welcome to come to my house and watch my EWP tape with me, Helenabear! Bring Luis and the cats - and all of our cats can hang out together - all 8 of them! :)

I can just see it now Rider, our 8 babies getting along... okay maybe not ;) But I did remember that I do have pictures from our last stay of the EWP so I can at least look at them :D

EWP on Cam Corder also

I'll be watching also.....

SG, don't forget to watch the lady that makes candies in Japan at Epcot, she is right across the walkway from the drummers. She makes all sorts of animals, my kids got an alligator, crocodile and shark. She makes beautiful hummingbirds. She is also very funny when she makes these.

helenabear, stay away from all the colds, and wash your hands frequently with lots of soap bubbles. I started taking a multivitamin with folic acid that were given to me at a health fair and I haven't been really sick since then, that was last winter. I'm one to get sick quite often, so maybe there is something to those vitamins.

Rider, I'd come over also and watch the parade and bring my cat, but she gets so stressed out she'd probably lose all of her hair in the ordeal. Our newest adventure might be a dog. Wish us luck....:smooth:

8 days to go and I am so far behind in everything that needs to be done or I THINK needs to be done. I know I am not going to make it but hopefully I will get the important things done. I always sigh with relief when I finally pull out of the driveway.

I loved the hot dogs at Casey's but I beat that tonight. They had double/triple coupons at Krogers and I just came from there and got some the Eckrich Grillers to take to DW with us. DH will not eat hot dogs at home but loves them when they cost $4 or 5. I am bringing some fancy buns and fixings so he can pig out on them without the long lines or bill bills. LOL

I had been thinking about taking a camcorder with me but with all the baggage checks and such I am paring down to the essentials. I will just have to enjoy the video that Rider made. I will have to check out the candles at Japan that Jstmee reccomends. It would be perfect present for my dear older friend. Thank you so much for the suggestion. I am afraid that I am not much of a shopper. I have done it for a living for so many years that I am burned out.

On the 3rd I will picture you guys all together at a home with all your pets sprawled out on the floor. You guys are great!!

I am a bit bushed from another busy day. Just got home a bit ago. Had to drive my DH to visit with his brother. It is quite a ways away from here. I took a bunch of work with me so I would not waste too much time.

I am going to stake out a chaise and see if I can look pitiful enough so that all the guys will come and tend to my every need.

I'm sorry, Jstmee - of course you and your cat are welcome to come over and watch the EWP with us - we'll have a regular feline gala! It's OK - one of my cats is pretty timid, too, so she and yours can hide together!

Seriously, if any of you would like a copy of the video which I made 2 years ago, on which I taped many attractions (and the EWP, of course!), I would be happy to make a copy and send it to you! I could also throw on my footage of ToN (I2K didn't come out that well!) from last year and Fantasmic from last year or this year. Just something to keep in mind! If anyone is interested, please PM me your home address (if you don't mind) and I'll make a copy and send it over!

I know what you mean about bringing the video camera and wanting to bring just the bare essentials, SG. It's a pain to lug it around the parks all day.....but I love having the videos so much that I lug mine around anyway! I'll be bringing mine when we go in June, so I could send you footage of the new parades after we come back, if you'd like!

I've never seen the lady making candies in Japan either, Jstmee - I will have to look out for her, next time! And those vitamins sound really good. Do you know what my "secret weapon" against colds is? Listerine! Ever since I started using it, I haven't caught a cold! I never liked the taste, but the mint isn't too bad. DF told me that it prevents him from catching colds, so I started using it last year and haven't had a cold since!

Hope that you are feeling well, Helenabear! And hope that the weather has improved out there. Again, come on over and visit - believe it or not, it's 76 degrees and sunny, here in the Garden State!

Well, time to get ready for work! Have a great day! :)

Hi everyone! All is well here in rainy Ohio. It is warm but there isn't a speck of sunshine here. It makes driving in so early unbearable because it is pitch black. The bad thing is as soon as the rain is supposed to go away it is supposed to get cold (around 50 for the high). I will just be glad to get my extra hour of sleep on Sunday :D I said last year had I realized when the time change was, I would have gotten married the day before so I had an extra hour to sleep in before our 6:30 flight ;)

I don't seem to be getting the cold others do... maybe I suffered enough with my sinuses and so it decided to pass me over because I had something worse... I don't know. Or it could be because I use Listerine toothpaste. Let me tell you that after using that in your mouth every day the mouthwash is a breeze to use. I don't really use both together as that would be overkill for my mouth I think, but when I feel an illness coming on, I was always sure to use that daily and I think it helped. I also take a daily vitamin which I know helps me and also I use the Zinc tablets if I think I am getting a cold and it seems to kill things off quickly for me. I figure Listerine has to be a decent preventative because it does kill so many germs and I can't see how it wouldn't help kill cold & flu germs as well. Just in case I have my lysol here so I can spray away people's icky germs ;)

SG, you are almost there... about a week to go now! I will have to live vicariously through your trip and I am sure you will have a lovely time with lovely weather! We still have no idea when we will go back but I know we will make it someday. Even if we have to share a small room with my dad & sister, it will all be worth it! I can relate with you on the camcorder thing. The last time one was taken for my family was in '95 and even though between all of us there have been three trips since, no one has ever taken one. If I ever get one of those tiny little digital camcorders I would consider taking one again since they are actually smaller than one of our regular cameras.

Rider, you are so sweet ot offer to make copies of videos. You will definitely find a PM from me there today as I mentioned before we have only old copies of rides, but that is okay because Digital Disney helps me relive rides as well :D

Jstmee, I too have missed the lady in Japan making candies. I am surprised because I love wondering around Japan. Next time I go I will have to hunt her down and watch. That sounds like an amazing thing to see :D

Well I should get back to work now. I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Lots of rain here yesterday and bad storms last night. Not sure if we sent it on to Helenabear or she sent it on to us (probably the former). Sure glad I got the yardwork done. I need to plant some more bulbs that is easier in wet ground. Making a big pot of chili for this evening. Fits the weather and will be great for my DD and her family. They go to church right behind our house and she has to come to pick up the older boy from our house after work as I tutor him twice a week. She only has about an hour between that and the revival that is going on all this week so I try to have something for them to eat. I am using up some of my last tomatoes from the garden. You know how you have to clean out the fridge before you leave on these long vacations. I can cook some mighty 'interesting' meals under these circumstances. LOL

Rider, I would love to take you up on your offer on the video. One suggestion tho, You might wait until after your next trip so we can get more. Greedy!!!! Also I insist on paying postage and also pay for the tape itself. You are so wonderful. If I check around I may have some tapes of the old parades and such myself. I know that I have the electric light parade, the MK parade with the Toy Story characters and who knows what else. After the holidays I have some serious editing job to do on a buinch of tapes and will check then and let you all know what I have. Won't be the quality that Rider has tho.

I have not gotten a cold in so many years and I figure it is a combination of the fact that I take so much medicine AND when I get sick it is always pneumonia instead of something small. I get the pneumonia on such a regular basis that I have my own nebulizer so I can treat myself at home. For some reason I have not (knock wood) had it this year. Probably been to busy to catch anything. (grin)

Hope I can make some headway on my list today. Not much hope tho as this is a granny day. I do the Dalton shuffle at 11 and then Austin comes at 3 and by the time DD leaves it will be 7. I move slowly but surely.

I have been reading the weather reports with much interest and see that DW is expecting temps in the low and very low 70's when we first get there. I will be such a happy camper but fear that others might not be so happy.

Hope the weather improves for you Helenabear. It is still drizzly here but I see some breaks in the clouds so I have hopes for the day.

Have a great day gals and I will meet you in the suite this evening. Anybody got any ideas for tonight?

Slightly Goofy

This is so weird, I posted a lengthy post for me and it never made it. I suggested a ride on IASW and a leisurely walk through MK, followed by EWP on the balcony and room service to end it.

SG, sounds like you'll need the jacuzzi by then.

Helenabear, when the clocks turn this weekend you should have more light I hope.

I backed into a vehicle at the mall today when we went to look at a puppy. Par for the week. Oh well, things can always be worse. I am on hold with the IRS now, trieng to straighten some things up.

Rider, have a nice day.............

Lots to do today.

The only good thing I can think of for you Jstmee is the fact that your day can only go uphill from here on out. A smashed car AND the IRS? I hope the IRS thing is for work and not personal. My Dbil was a big man in the IRS before he retired and it was scary listening to him tell about his work.

I have never, in any of my trips, managed a leisurely walk thru MK. It is the hardest park for me. I always take at least 2 days there. I love MGM the best. Maybe we could get them to allow us in to wander one night after closing. A few cleaning personel would not ruin the magic for me at all.

I have my itinerary all done. I have large index cards with all the info for each park. I don't really plan for exactly which park we are going to each day as circumstances (especailly right now) change. A few things are written in stone like my visit with my sister and getting together with our neighbors and such. Suitcases are coming down to the pool table today. I have a master packing list that I use and adjust for how many days we will be gone and how often I am willing to do laundry and such. The hardest thing to pack is the case for the bathroom and since we travel so much I keep it packed at all times and replenish the supplies when we return so that is already done.

I have to get a few things done before I do the Dalton shuffle. I pick him and a friend up at preschool and take them to daycare. He is all excited about the week he is going to spend with me the first of December cause he will not have to go to daycare but stay here instead. He goes around with all his fingers on one hand up and says "I get to spend this many nights at grandma's". I love it.

Looking forward to that 'leisurely' tour of MK. Maybe some of you commandos can give me a guided tour of the spots I have missed in my previous tours.

Slightly Goofy

Wow, I am glad that I am not you Jstmee... it sounds like you are in for one heck of a day. I hope the call with the IRS went well and that not much damage was done to your car or the one you backed into. I remember trying to get a hold of the IRS to straighten them out and it took me forever. I was so mad with them at one point that Luis had to do all of the calling. You know it took them from August to Oct to get our refund check to us. THEY had typed our address in incorrectly and they wouldn't do anything even though our post office said they couldn't forward the check to us based on the address. When we finally got our check, we found out that they couldn't even spell Columbus correctly! ARG!!! At least we finally got the check.

SG, you are so lucky to begin the packing for your trip. We are kind of like you with our planning. If we have something special planned, we will intentionally go to a park a certain day, otherwise we go with the flow. EEs actually made it harder for us since we liked to get ready leisurely in the morning so we wrote down the days for the EEs before hand so we could avoid them if we felt like changing out plans. It also sounds like you have a wonderful grandson. I can just picture a cute boy holding up his fingers and smiling while thinking he has that many days with you :D

It is very possible to do a leisurely walk around the MK... you just have to be there at certain times of the year. Another thing we do with leisurely walks is to go towards a certain ride and if the line is too long, we keep walking. I've noticed that except for days when there is fireworks & the parade, the later in the day it gets, the fewer people come out to "play". Honestly though the time I loved best for walking around the park is at night either during the parade or if it is an E-night. It is just beautiful and quiet in most areas... and if in the summer you can stay after the first parade, the park really seems to clear out really quickly. That was the time we had the best ride on the Jungle Cruise. Our "tour guide" was so funny and he had the only kid on the boat "driving" it and he had her believing she was really driving. If only we had our camcorder there then because I would have loved to share that one with you all.

Well even though I am not too busy right now I really should get back to "working". I hope you all have a wonderful evening and I look forward to strolling through MK with you all.

BAD TO WORSE

Okay, I just thought the day was bad. The accident actually happened yesterday. I must have typed it wrong. I got a call from the specialist. You know, the one that you won't hear anything from too soon if nothing is wrong. Well, there seems to be abnormalities.......aaargh, i'll be checked in another 6 months. Vewy Scawy Stuff!!! ?Wonder what they'll do if it grows?

I am not fretting however and not worrying too much.

I am going to put my kiddos to bed now, but wanted to give you an update and thank you for all the PD lately.

WEndy

Jstmee here is a big {{{HUG}}} A co-worker of mine had a similar thing happen. Six months later she came up normal. I guess that can happen. Don't you worry though, if it were major they'd check right away and not in six months. Of course there are always the second opinions. Here's a bunch of PD that you will feel better about it all!

Dear Jstmee

Most insurance companies cover second opinions @ 100%. I think that you should go and get a second opinon NOW!!! Please get referrals from several sources and pick someone who sees lot of this condition and specializes in the procedure. IMHO a monkey can do something right if they do it over and over and over again so I feel about a doctor. I am sorry, I forget where you live but if you live in a rural area you need to get to a big city where they see lots of cases. Don't mean to scare you but it is better to be safe than sorry and when you are talking about cancer or even possible cancer 6 months is too darn long. BTW, darn is NOT the word I am thinking. I hope you are not offended but I cannot be silent on this. You are precious to us not to mention your family and if it were a member of your family I think you would be more adamant.

Helenabear, another IRS story. When I was very young I deposited my refund check and then proceeded to spend it. Upshot was that in that year the IRS had made some mistakes on the checks and they bounced!!! I was one scared puppy with the bank manager threatening me with everything including death and I had no money to cover them. Turned out ok later but it was a scary thing for a young girl fresh off the farm.

My DD has just told me that she has an appointment to get on the cornea transplant list. She had an eye problem when she was a child and it caused her to go blind in one eye. I am a bit scared for her but also very hopeful as it would make such a big difference in her life. She does not know how big of a change it would be as she probably does not ever remember seeing well. She was just a baby when she was laying in my lap and I saw the scar on her eye. I have given her 3 choices only. #1 She comes here for me to take care of her. #2 Igo to her house to care for her #3 She lets the boys come here and I'll watch them so she does not do something she should not. She has a bad back and she is always picking them up and allowing them to jump on her. I understand but I worry.

Too much happening today to all of us. I think we should all go over to Jelly Rolls, howl at the moon and have many of their huge drinks. LOL

Slightly Goofy

You know the more I thought about it, the more I though Jstmee, go see another doctor please! From what I remember now about my friend is that she had one abnormal, then went back less than a month later and had a normal result and THEN she had to go back for another follow up on ever six months for a while just to make sure. I guess things can come up abnormal but be okay but they should check immediately. I lost my mother to cervical cancer and had they waited six months she would have been gone long before that time. Now granted she had abnormal growth for cervical cancer (the rapid speed of hers was unreal) but if things are found in the early stages, then there is a greater chance of survival for all types of abnormalities. I just hope all goes well for you.

SG, I love these IRS stories. You'd think they'd try to be a little more helpful but I guess not! I hope for the best for your DD. It sounds like a very scary thing to have to go through but if it works, she might be pleasantly surprised. I recently saw on "Ripley's Believe it or Not" about a guy who was basically blind and hadn't seen anyone in his family ever. He got a special implant in his eye, basically a little lense) and now he has 20/50 out of his one eye. The interesting thing is the lense works 24/7 and in order for him to sleep, he has to put a little cap on his lense since it isn't covered by an eye lid or anything like that. I find it amazing what they can do now for the eyes. I want the lazer surgery and as much as it has improved with time, I will still wait... but I am impressed with how much it HAS improved over the years.

Well it has gotten very cold here after the rain we got last night and it is very windy. I guess the temp here is 45 degrees but with the windchill it feels like 22! So I could use a nice warm walk around WDW. I am in the mood for shopping so maybe I will go to Downtown Disney. For lunch I will stop off at Bongo's Cuban Cafe. I love this place. The food is excellent (although their flan isn't as good as mine ;) ) and the servings are HUGE! So would anyone like to join me and split the Arroz con Pollo (chicken and rice) with me?

Helenabear, they are forecasting freezing temps tonight thu Friday for here. Unusual weather for this time of the year and this location. We had planned this trip earlier than the one we made last year as we had such a scary time getting home but if this keeps up we might have trouble coming home the middle of November!! On the good side, it should be my kind of weather at DW. I love the l ow 70's. I would settle for 80 or below so that people who like to swim will still be able to tho. I am not totally selfish.

I am glad to see you join me in encouraging Jstmee to get a second opinion. If she won't do it we will just all have to gather together and go to her house and drag her out kicking and screaming. LOL Can't you just see her face when she answered the door and saw all thes unfamiliar faces glaring at her? Better safe than sorry. Jstmee, do you have help with your husband gone so much? I worry that you might not be as proactive in caring for yourself if you don't have someone to drive you and watch the kids while you have your appointments and such. I have a feeling that you have many wonderful friends tho, as I can tell you are a wonderful friend also. Pixie dust is flying all around you. Wouldn't want you to mistake it for anthrax. (silly smile) Take care of yourself and we will be rooting for you.

Slightly Goofy and your EWP friends

Hi Everyone,

Jstmee - I am with the other ladies - I think that you would feel much better if you went to have a second opinion. It would give you peace of mind, and the more information you have, the better. I'm sure that everything will be all right! But I'll bet you would feel much better and more confident if you were to see another specialist and see what he or she has to say.
Hang in there and try not to worry! {{{HUGS}}} and PD to you!

I'm sorry that it's been so cold and unpleasant out there, SG and Helenabear - weirdly enough, it's been in the 70's all week, here - and sunny, too! It almost hit 80, yesterday! I wore sleeveless summer dresses to work for the past 2 days! Very strange to have that sort of weather when the leaves on the trees are all beautiful yellows, reds, and oranges! Unfortunately, it will be ending tonight - we are supposed to have thunderstorms this afternoon, and then weather in the 50's tomorrow and in the 40's on Saturday - YUCK.

I agree that the eye surgery which can be performed now is just amazing. I know that this is completely different from what your DD would like to do, but the laser surgery which my mother had to remove her cataracts and later to stop retinal bleeding due to diabetes was unbelievable - it was so quick and the results were very quick, as well. I'm sure that the procedure will make a tremendous difference in your DD's life and I hope that she is able to have the transplant soon. Please keep us posted. And I loved your story about Dalton holding his fingers up in anticipation of spending time with you!

I also enjoy strolling around the MK in the evenings, after dinner, when many people are heading toward the gates to leave the park. It's nice to just wander around, then find a shady place to sit and just watch people walk by. *SIGH* Less than a week to go, SG! If I was you, I would be jumping out of my skin with excitement! Have you made whatever PS's you're planning to make, yet? Or are you waiting until you get there to do that? I know that I asked you this before, but how long will it take you to drive down? Will you be stopping, or will you be driving straight through?

I will split the arroz con pollo, Helenabear! (Believe it or not, I was an honors Spanish student in high school.......now I probably couldn't complete a grammatically correct sentence if I tried! My elementary school Hebrew is probably better than my Spanish, at this point!) Although the line was too long at Bongo's the last time we were in the Downtown Disney area and we didn't get to eat there, I love that sort of food and hope to get there some day! I'm getting hungry just thinking about it - YUM! I can smell the spices, now! After we eat, we should wander around Downtown Disney and do some shopping or window shopping - what do you say?

Have a nice day, Everyone! :)
