We are getting ready to book our February vacation through a website www.windsor-palms-resort.com. It is run by "evilla rentals". The Idea is that this web site allows the individual owners to put their properties out directly and manage them themselves. I think the prices are great and the units look great too. Can anyone comment on this company or Windsor Palms?
(We are actually getting ready to spend our Dec vacation at Windsor Palms but we booked the rooms through Closest to Disney.com--We are happy with thier professionalism so far)
Thanks,
Zip

Hi! I don't know anything about evillas but I did find our rental home through vrbo which sounds like a similar type of website. From what I read about Windsor Palms (we almost rented there but got a better deal on a home in Indian Creek), it's a lovely gated community with a lot of ammenities. The location is good and close to WDW. You might want to check out www.vrbo.com just to get a comparison of rates and available types of properties.

Zip,
I'm also considering booking with closest to dis.com. Glad to hear you've been happy with them thus far. Do you know what there deposit/cancellation policy is?

Also do you think from this site an afternoon rest from the parks is possible?

We stayed in a 3 bedroom condo at Windsor Palms in March of this year, and I can't recommend the property highly enough. It was just beautiful, still very new and the recreational facilities and clubhouse are wonderful. While we were in a condo, the single homes looked lovely too.

It was a short and easy drive to the parks. It was about 10 minutes from the WDW parking lot to the resort, and we went back for an afternoon break (around 1 p.m.) with our kids each day to swim and have some down time. Then we'd go back to the parks around 4 p.m. and have some more time doing our favourite rides again.

If you have any questions about the Windsor Palms, don't hesitate to ask. We plan on staying there again on our next trip!

Mousegirl, did you rent your villa from an agency or private owner? I think the Windsor Palms sounds perfect for us, I just need to choose the villa now.

tmli,

We rented through a private owner from www.vrbo.com. It was our first time renting privately and we were very happy with the experience. Just be sure to ask lots of questions and make sure you get all the information you need to feel comfortable before booking. There is lots of choice out there and prices can vary quite a bit. The owner we dealt with was very professional and made the whole rental process easy and painless.

Although he didn't live in Orlando, the owner had a contract with a local management company just minutes from Windsor Palms, so it was also nice to know if we did run into any problems (which we didn't!) that help was just a phone call away.

Hey Timly,
The Closest to Disney cancellation policy is you need to cancel within 7 days or you get charged 1 night rent. I will let you know more when we get back in mid December.

We found our vacation home through them. It was easy enough. They have a short form to fill out and the home owner emails you back. Our owner has been very accomodating to us -- I asked lots and lots of questions and was afraid she would get tired of me but she's been really great. We leave on December 6th so we'll be seeing our house pretty soon. Sometime after we get back, December 21st, I'll post again and let everybody if my expectations of the home and community were met. I'm sure they'll be exceeded from everything I've read though.

Hey Timli,
I forgot to mention that they are good for an afternoon rest. I know where they are located and it will be a quick drive from the park.

Sounds great Zip, Ill be booking with Simon this week. Please let me know how wonderful it was as soon as you get back. Have a great trip!

Winsor Palms is a lovely community but all the facilities are reflected in the price.I always stayed in a private villa finding it far more convenient especially when my children were young. You can get up when you want without mousekeeping bothering you.The main differences between booking through an agency and directly with an owner are firstly the price.Booking direct has to be cheaper and fairer on the owners and you are going to get all the information you need about your home before you leave and you are probably dealing with someone who knows the area like the back of their hand.Plus of course the added bonus of your own pool outside your back door. There are numerous site offering homes for rent by owners and by using them you know the homeowner is getting a fair price for their home because there are no middle men to take their share.

We stayed at Windsor pams in October and can highly reccomend it.We rented a 4 bed villa direct form the owner and have already boked the same villa for next October:)

Karen,
Did you have enough time to leave the parks mid day for a rest back at the villa?
