Being from Cali, we dont use a dinning plan when we go to the LAND.. heck I dont even know if they offer one?LOL

anyhow.. we just recently booked it and started looking for places to eat and found that where we want IN the parks are all booked  . So now we are having to LEAVE the parks to hit up resorts and hope they arent booked.. Im so sad we wanted to spend as much time in the parks without wasting time but this will allow us time to relaxe a bit... anyhow... All Hubby wants is steak, and Im easy LOL so direct me in your favorite (somewhat near) resorts to Epoct and Hollywood

Thanks!

before you lose hope go to the thread for reservations the month of your trip and people post things they are getting ready to cancel or are willing to trade. Maybe you'll get some luck? Also, maybe there are other places in the parks that you've never tried that are worth trying. I would try calling again and getting some input and suggestions from the reservation person. But here's the link for the board and it has every month's thread listed. here ya go. Good luck!

Also, my suggestions for in Epcot are Lecellier, Chefs de france, and coral reef and in Hollywood studios brown derby, sci-fi, 50s prime time, and lots of other stuff too. But I don't know which ones you checked for so i may just be repeating things you've already checked! :)

If you plan to go to resorts during Free Dining to eat, you'll need reservation also.
The Wave is a new restaurant at Contemporary, you could walk over from the MK or ride the monorail. You might try to get a AD there.
At Epcot there is usually openings at Morroco. Also, on the boardwalk, (walk out through WS), you could try Spoodles or one of the restaurants at Beach/Yatch Club.
The Barbeque place (CS) is very good at Animal Kingdom. You don't need reservations.

Good luck, I know it is frustrating.

Flying Fish on the Boardwalk has a great steak. It is 2TS on the DP so it tends to be available.
Not inexpensive, but not much more than many of the 1TS if you are not on the DP. We ate here our first night at DW as a walkin. My husband was a bit shocked when we saw the menu but we were tired and had already tried to get into a number of other restaurants. Based on our experience he would gladly go back. Our 13 DD requests it.
Menus are available on www.allears.net

we went during free dining one year and never made ressies. found out too late that it was a big mistake.
but, i went down to the conceirge every morning, i was actually in line before he even came on, and handed him a list of restaurants that i wanted to get into that day. we got soemthing everyday from our list.
good luck!!

oh and i dont know your mode of transportation, but if you are going to have to hopping around alot for food, you may want to look into a rental car.

What are your dates?

Oct 5-7th, were doing the WOrld post Disney Cruise.

I just called again and got the Sci Fi im sure my boys will love it!.... Guess Ill keep calling and see if I get Le Cell, or Coral Reef if not.. DH is ok with what I picked as a back up.. guess Im just one of those planners that wants everything PERFECT LOL :thumbsup2 Thanks all

I don't think you have much of a chance for La Cellier. I called 180 days before hand and there wasn't a lunch or dinner THE ENTIRE WEEK we were going to be there!!!

Just keep calling. I have been trying evry other day and each time I get a restaurant I wanted. For example - 8 of us are going Oct 15, I called and called to get us in Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner. Finally, yesterday I got it!

Call before you leave for the cruise and then when you get to your resort. They get so many cancellations stuff opens up all the time. Disney was trying to figure out how to track ppl that have more than 1 ressie at a time for same day/meal time because ppl would make several ressies and just keep one. Never bothering to call the restaurant or res center to tell them the other will not be needed. Which is why they are not reservations - they are priority seating. Guarantee you the next table available for your party size....hey I remember the spiel! :rotfl:

When we went this year to Cape May Clam Bake at Beach Club it wasn't crowded. It is in walking distance from Epcot. Spoodles at the boardwalk is also near Epcot but may be harder to get into. Also, Turf Club at Saratoga Springs will be an easy one to get an ADR. Mama Melrose's at DHS wasn't very busy either. A few years ago during free dining we booked Captain Jacks 2 days before eating there. You should also try Tony's and The Plaza at Magic Kingdom. The Wave at the Contemporary may not be busy either. Also if you want to do characters Garden Grill at Epcot may have openings. Keep calling every day for cancellations. You can look at the menus at:

I had luck getting into Tutto Italia in Epcot. Their menu looks yummy. It is newly reopened so not everyone knows to check it.

Another good, easier to get into, often over looked choice is The Grand Floridian Cafe- they have NY Strip, Rib-Eye, Salmon- a nice menu. Since it is on the monorail it is easy to get to.

Also, keep checking back. Around the 45 day mark some people have to cancel trips, so you could get lucky. You need a ressie for every sit down meal you want to have. Take what you can get, then drop the ones you don't want after you are able to book something you do.

I agree.... Keep checking back....people cancel all the time....

July 07 my neice decided to go with us at the last minute. I called and was suprised that I was able to secure a dinner reservation at the Castle for a party of 7 within 60 days of our arrival. Even more suprising was my reservation was for 8pm and we were hungry early and were able to check in at 7pm.... now this is not the norm because I tried to check in early July 08 and no go.... had to wait until exactly our ADR time.

Also- I have found that if you are willing to eat later - then you are more likely to find openings. The 5pm to 6pm dinner time is VERY difficult to secure. I usually plan my dinners for the 8 to 9 pm time. Also if they dont have a reservation for 8pm check for 8:05, 8:10... so on

Hope you find something.

We really enjoyed Chef de France this past summer. I thought the steak here was better than Lecellier. Also we liked the Kona cafe at the Polynesian which is a quick monorail ride from the Magic Kingdom. Alot of people like Ohanna which is at the Polynesian. Grand Floridian cafe is also a quick monorail ride from Magic Kingdom. I didnt care for the Garden Grill very much. Also there are alot of counter service that are good.

Keep trying!! The first time I called, none of the restaurants I wanted were available. I've called every three days or so and I now have 3 reservations. It helps to be persistant.:hippie:

Have you tried Yachtsman Steakhouse. You can walk out the Epcot World Showcase entrance and in 5 min, be at that steakhouse. If you are on dining plan, this will take 2 credits but the steaks there are going to better than what you get at Le Cellier or Coral Reef. Also, since it's outside of the parks, you might have a better chance as both Le Cellier and Coral Reef are very popular.

Also, as a fellow left coaster, we always book late dinners. 9:30 at WDW is 6:30 at home and it's usually much easier to get those late ones.

Listen to what these wise people say. Keep calling!!

I kept calling and got Le Cellier for lunch on 10/31 @ 2:20 and also got CRT for dinner @ 5:40 10/30, 1900 Park Fare 10/30 8:30 A.M. I also got Crystal Palace for breakfast @ 8:15 A.M. before the park opens :thumbsup2
