Everything you need to know about WDW Christmas- Tips & Secrets

I am going the 6-11 of Dec and have been going crazy trying to get a LTT dinner ressie for the 10th and have had zero luck! It's crazy!

I know what you mean, I have been on the online dining everyday trying to get one more character meal at any resort that I can get. We are leaving on 12/10 and we would love to do one more hurrah before we have to go back to the "Real World", but I have had no such luck....yet.

Here's sending you some pixie dust! :wizard:

What time and where exactly are the tree lightings at MK and Epcot? I know there is probably no way to miss seeing them when there  ...just trying to add it to our plans 'cause we'd dearly love to see them while we are there! TIA

We are heading down Dec 18-23. This time we are doing a Universal stay.....shhh:ssst:....you didn't hear me say the "U" word.:rolleyes1 But I could not go to Orlando and not visit Magic Kingdom one day. We plan on going Dec 21. How you think the crowds will be that day?

I'd like to know that too!:)

Looked again and still couldn't get Prime Time or Sci Fi for Dec 7th. I am beginning to think that weekend is going to be busier than Christmas itself!:scared1: the hotels are all full, too.

There are two words to explain this difficulities: FREE DINING

That is the reason that there are no ressies left. Keep trying and hopefully something will open up but it does not mean larger crowds just more folks eating in the restaurants because of the free dining.

What Great information, Thank you all. We have booked a Magical Christmas Gathering for 11/28/10 – 12/4/10. I do have a question, for those of you who booked early like us, did you receive a discount code later that you where able to use? If so, how early did you get it? We are looking to save some money. Thank You for your help and Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas!

We will be at WDW 12/17-12/22. I am bringing everything from tee's to our winter jackets. We are driving so I am going to pack the car full of extra clothes.

We are not doing MVMCP but will enjoy the Osbourne lights, castle lighting, & resort decorations.:)

I've read on another website that the tree lighting at MK will be at 6:30. However, I've read conflicting reports about the lighting at Epcot. Some posts have stated that there is not an official tree lighting there any longer for some reason. If anyone else knows for sure, please do tell! Thanks!

Okay, I made it through 16 pages of this thread, and then gave up - so I'm sorry if this has been asked/answered before....

Is there an opinion out there about which time CP is less crowded? We'll be at Epcot on 12/3, and can do any of the three shows. I'm thinking the early one might be best, but just not sure....

Also, we're now considering doing MVMCP on the 4th (which is the only night we can swing it) but I'm worried about crowds. Will the "media" weekend affect crowds for MVMCP?

Sorry, one more question. I just found conflicting info about the DVC/AP discounts for MVMCP. wdwinfo.com has 12/4 as one of the dates for the discount, but allears.net does not. Anyone know if 12/4 is a discounted date? I'm sure that would have an impact on the crowds.

Hi, sorry if this too has already been asked but there are too many pages to search. We will be at WDW Jan 9-16 and was wondering if there would still be Christmas decorations up. Seems to be no one can answer that.

They seem to come down around the third - sorry.

I apologize if this has been asked.....

When I first did trip planning, on Saturday Dec. 12, Spectro was at 7:00 and Wishes was at 8:00, with the park closing at 11:00.

Now the calendar says Spectro is at 9:00 with Wishes at 10:00 and the park still closes at 11:00.

:confused3 I can see moving Spectro and Wishes to later if they were adding on park hours to keep Magic Kingdom open later, but why would they move them if the park is still closing at 11:00? I need to make sure this is valid because if so, I need to shift things around. THANKS!

We were there in 2007 and are very used to cold weather, but not used to colder humid weather (huge difference), humidity makes everything colder and hotter. We were so very, very cold first couple of days trying to enjoy Wishes on the beach at the Poly I was ready to pack it in and head back to Calgary, however the rest of the trip was great - spent tons of time at the pool and beach in shorts etc. So like previous posters have said - layer, layer, layer!!

Good to know! We are your east neighbouring province and I was trying to figure out how warm it would be in the evenings... so it's pretty chilly with the humidity? My hubby was ready to wear shorts the whole trip! Any packing advice for a SK family?

Assuming you are not doing the dining package, then your best bet is the first showing. On Thursday the 3rd you shouldn't have to big a problem getting in, but I would recommend getting in line at least an hour before the show.

It is not uncommon that the times change...however, if the park is open until 11 PM, they will rarely do Spectro and Wishes that early, so my guess is that initially there was a typo somewhere that is now fixed.

Thanks! For various reasons, we can't do the dining package (other people involved) and I really want to see this! I've been getting worried reading about how popular Steven Curtis Chapman is (although I've never heard of him) and was worried this might be a really crowded evening. I have no problem waiting in line for an hour - we did that for Fantasmic! this past summer and it was SOOO worth it.

Okay, still trying to figure out the MVMCP thing. Does anyone know the actual number of people that would constitute a sell-out? I saw somewhere that it was 20,000, but not sure if that's accurate. I'm wondering how that compares to an average day in MK - does DW ever post how many people visit their parks on a given day?

The only day we can go is Friday, 12/4, and it sounds like that could definitely be a sell out day. If it's comparable to April/August crowds, I'm fine with that. But, if it's wall to wall people, similar to Christmas week crowds, then it's not worth the $$ to me. Any opinions??
