this may have already been addressed and i missed it, but here goes

Magicbands are on sale on disneystore.com today and i ordered one for each person in my family, including the 45th anniversary one and the haunted mansion wallpaper, both of which are LE I think. Everyone is on one MDE, and we just purchased annual passes last week, but haven't activated them. Will I be able to assign the bands to a specific person when I get them so that they work with each person's AP?

There is instructions that come with it on how to do this. basically it's link it to mde using the unique number found on the band and then assign it to someone.

I bought magic bands last year for a trip we were supposed to take this past summer. We weren't able to go but are now going this xmas. I bought them last xmas so they are about a year old. First of all will they still work? Second I linked them to my disney experience but will they automatically be active when we get there? We are not staying onsite and I haven't linked them to tickets yet because we won't be buying them till November.

I have not been in 6 years so have never used them and want to make sure everything is working when we go.

Thanks!

1) yes. MB's are estimated to work about 3 years.

2. Yes their active. As long as their linked to your MDE then their good to go. And you can have up to about 10 linked to your account with no issues and change colors whenever you want

It's the battery for long-range functions like ride photos that are supposed to last 3 years. For things that you touch the Magic Band to to get it to work, like entering the parks, using FP and entering your hotel room, it should last indefinitely.

Just wasn't sure if they are more of a collector's item and possibly old enough that the RFID's wouldn't work, much like what you would buy from Ebay, etc.

The bands in general are all constructed the same. they do time to time update them but still all basically the same and they just run out of the old ones. disney stores are the same that you can buy at WDW or they send you for free when staying at a WDW resort, the only difference is WDW has more choices available. once disney infinity is gone next year, the only thing they are good for is to use around WDW or as a bracelet or keepsake.

Thanks! I bought last night because of your tip!

I am so confused!! I purchased two Magic Bands awhile ago and linked them to my account, one for myself and one for my boyfriend. Both are showing up in the Magic Bands section of MDE. This morning, I purchased two one-day park hoppers and linked them to me and my boyfriend, respectively. BUT now that they've been linked to our names, I can't find any way to link them to the Magic Bands that I purchased?! Are they auto-added to any active Magic Bands on our accounts?? I didn't think so...?
I really want to be able to use the Magic Bands in the parks, and I really did not want to have to stop at the ticket booths to pick up physical tickets; that plus FP+ was the whole reason I bought the tickets in advance. Can anyone advise??

The magicbands are just an ID bracelet that tell the computers where you are in MDE. Magicbands link to a person, just like tickets, reservations, dining, etc do so once it's in mde and your using a magicband that's linked to you everything is setup.

Ohhh okay. So my tickets are "auto-added" then. I thought I remembered linking a ticket to a Magic Band when I was there in September so I was SO confused. Clearly not. Thank you for the help!!

It's better to think of as "you are added to the magic band" and their computers take it from there. It works for everything linked to you in mde.

I am traveling with my husband and two kiddos. The four of us are staying at the BCR with Free Dining (Yay!). My MIL, FIL, SIL, BIL and their three kiddos will also be visiting DW the same time we are, but they are staying off site. Since we are technically allowed to have up to five guests in our BCR room, I added my SIL to our reservation so that she can take advantage of free parking and some of the free dining benefits (I added her after the I made the initial reservation so she just paid me the difference the change added to the reservation amount).

My questions is: since we will not, for the most part, be touring the parks together, is it possible to have only her allotted dining credits (6 snacks, 6 QS, 6 TS) added to her MagicBand so that she cannot "accidentally" overspend her allotted amount leaving my family to pay for food when we shouldn't? My husband and I have argued about this and I thought this might be a resolution to keep him from stressing about his sister overspending our dining credits.

Thanks!

First off, nothing is on the magicband, it's just an id bracelet that helps disney's computer systems find you in mde. everything is managed in mde. No you can't. The way the system works is the credits are allocated to the room and everyone in the room has access to the pool of credits so you need to all manage it (and watch out for some sneaking in extra snacks or something if you don't do some things together from the people who will be with you. resorts can look up who used their band for what if needed). The credits also don't need to used on the people in the room reservation so she is going to need to be careful that when her clan is paying for food that only credits for her meal is taken from it. It doesn't take much for the server to accidentally put everyone at the table on the meal plan and that can be messy to fix.

If I have multiple active magic bands, will they all work during my stay? My main question is once I am in the park can I switch bands for each character that I meet??
TIA!
