so last night I went to Lincoln Center for the gala opening night of the NYC Ballet season. they did a special performance -- a tribute to Richard Rodgers. the Mayor introduced the performance. at the end there was a surprise guest performer -- Bernadette Peters sang a Rodgers and Hart song. afterwards, the glitterati who paid $1000 per ticket went to a black tie reception.

Ididn't go to the party. those of us who paid $16 and sat in the 4th ring weren't invited.

but Bernadette Peters walked right past my sister in the theater lobby.

What were some of the highlighted songs? Richard Rodgers had such talent....:D

there were three pieces. the first was called Land of Nod, and featured music from Allegro. the second was Carousel -- the dancers actually formed a carousel on stage. for the third piece, the stage was set as a 1930's nightclub -- very art deco. it was all Rodgers and Hart -- songs like "Manhattan" "Blue Moon" "The Lady is a Tramp". very elegant.

Cool!!

Bernadette is one of the last great Broadway musical stars . . .

Briar Rose, are you gonna see the Nutcracker at the NYCB? My all-time favorite Sugar Plum Fairy is Jenifer Ringer. She is so pretty.:)I hope you get to see her.
