Everything Old Is New Again! - A Dec 2010 Trip Report : THE FINAL ENTRY page 45

And that's a problem? :confused3 I don't see it myself...

Sounds good to me!!:thumbsup2

While I personally don't see the problem for adults to eat nothing but dessert (and there are times I say that is what dinner will be-but I never do it) there is a problem for the kids.

Now don't go saying "But your on vacation" Blah Blah Blah. I relax the rules around nutrition for vacation but does anyone on here remember what tooooo much junkfood does to Evan? Now if you wish to talk long enough for you to be the one to deal with the aftermath I am on board. I don't have the stomach for that.

Sugar Frosted Coating? Double Dipped Chocolate? Is anyone else getting hungry?
It sounded perfect till it said oats. :confused3

While waiting in line to see Buzz & Woody, a fellow DISDad (Stopher1) and I were texting back and forth trying to arrange a meetup. He said he was headed to the Great Movie Ride, so as soon as we left the meet & greet, I pulled out my phone to let him know where we were headed. Suddenly, a voice from behind me says something to the effect of "I already know where you are."
:lmao::lmao:

I can totally see that happening... He does tend to slip in and out of places- like Randell from Monsters INC. :lmao:

We had a nice conversation as we walked over to the Commissary and he helped me watch the kids as Bambi and Kaylene ordered the food.
You needed help watching the kids?

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

We had plenty of time before the show started, so we took a quick pit stop to see Lightening McQueen and Mater. (Get it? Pit Stop? Because he's a race car!)
:sad2:

(Side note: a few pages ago, Bambi threatened to "pull the plug" if I made any more lame puns. First of all, I don't feel that one was lame. Of course, I didn't think any of my other ones were lame either, so maybe I'm not the best judge. Second, there was some debate whether "pull the plug" meant my laptop's cord or my life support. I'm not currently on life support, but that really doesn't mean anything. So, if you don't hear from me again after this entry I just wanted to say thank you for reading along.)
You know your wife is gonna kill you, right? :confused3 :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Great pics with Cars! :car:

Now, sit back and relax as I present a presentation entitled:
"Several Pictures of Cars Going Fast and Things Blowing Up" (Presented by Brawny Paper Towels.)
I wonder why the Beverly didn't get this endorsement?

Luckily, we were able to be near the front of the thundering herd of humanity leaving the stadium and were able to get into the Muppetvision Theater for the next show.
:lmao::lmao:

It like leaving MK right after Wishes... :sad2:

Madison and our friend Rachel getting ready for the show. Umm, Madison, the show's gonna be upside down...
IMG_3732.JPG
Yes... Madison and Juliana would get along just fine! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

For some reason, this show never gets as good of reviews as it deserves. It's the Muppets for Pete's sake! How can it be bad?
I think it needs a little updating.. but it is a fun show.

Coming Up Next: How everything I thought I knew about Disney was destroyed. (But I got over it).
:scared1:

Great update! Now behave, before Bambi beats you up! :lmao:

I have no intention of killing him or beating him up. I have other ways to torture him. None of which inflict bodily harm. Most of them involve his wallet. :lmao:

Bambi's going shopping. :)

Isn't it the best type of torture? ;)

Ok, valid point. Barry could probably take care of the desserts though so that the only thing left for Evan to eat would be the chicken and grapes. See, problem solved!

Well... but then you'd have to deal with Barry running around on a sugar high. On second thought, nevermind. :lmao:

As long as my wife isn't an accomplice in the revenge this summer! :scared1:

The more I think about this shopping might kill him. Anyone know where I can get him an oxygen tank and blood pressure medication?

Now there were other decorations that I would encourage.
Sweet. Our house will be lit up like the Castle next year - complete with nightly Holiday Wishes Fireworks!:woohoo::woohoo:

Barry, first of all -- great update. Mark and I have never gone to see the Lights Motor Action show...it's always SO hot. The pics with the kids going up to Mickey are great.
Thanks. The theater is shaded, but I don't know how stifling it would be in the middle of summer. :crowded:
Barry, my dear, I would NOT mess with this woman at all! You tell him Bambi!
Oh, trust me, I know what's good for me.

And here I am again! Surprise!!
AH! You scared me again!

That was really fun! I'd love to do that again - but next time, I need to be able to chat with Bambi too. You just sent her off to buy the food. Next time send Madison and Evan off to buy the food, and then the adults can visit. :rotfl:
I know, but it was either send her off to buy food or sit around while the children's hunger digress them into a state of cannibalism and either eat themselves or someone at the next table.

Didn't I ever tell you that someday I'm going to build a house that looks exactly like the Mansion? But of course it will be the original New Orleans themed one, vs. the Dutch manor theme...
I would expect nothing less from you. :thumbsup2

You are absolutely correct sir... it is so underrated, but so very AWESOME! I love it, and must do it everytime I'm in the Studios (or California Adventure). Absolutely love it, and force the family in to it too... let's just say my DW is a bit tired of it... but I don't care. It's the Muppets darn it, and they're just so cool!
I think it's time to hit up Blockbuster and get some of the Muppet movies for family movie night....

It sounded perfect till it said oats. :confused3
I'm sure it's not much oats. Just enough to give it some structural rigidity to hold all of the chocolate and sugar together.

I can totally see that happening... He does tend to slip in and out of places- like Randell from Monsters INC. :lmao:
:rotfl2:
You needed help watching the kids?
Well, that's what we told Bambi anyway. Shhh...

You know your wife is gonna kill you, right?
Naaaahhhh...

I wonder why the Beverly didn't get this endorsement?
I heard they're going to be sponsoring Stitch's Great Escape

Yes... Madison and Juliana would get along just fine!
I wonder if they're too young to tell them that they have to be life-long nemesisis:confused3

Great update! Now behave, before Bambi beats you up! :lmao:
She's sitting here watching me type. I haven't gotten as much as a dirty look, so I think I'm good.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Isn't it the best type of torture? ;)
See my comment above. :sad2:

No, I like this idea. I like it a lot!:thumbsup2

As long as my wife isn't an accomplice in the revenge this summer! :scared1:

She can be an accomplice...just not with your wallet. :rolleyes1
Wait, does that mean she's digging in my wallet too?

The more I think about this shopping might kill him. Anyone know where I can get him an oxygen tank and blood pressure medication?
You can't see, but I'm breathing into a brown paper bag as I type this.

Oh, ok. That sounds better.
I have to respectfully disagree. It sounds much, much worse.

That sounds like a great deal for you, Mark! She might even be nice and get you something if she's getting a free shopping spree!:rotfl2::lmao:
Heck, since she's buying stuff already, you want anything?

AH! You scared me again!

:thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

I think it's time to hit up Blockbuster and get some of the Muppet movies for family movie night....

You haven't seen my DVD shelf then... we have them all, except for that lousy Muppet version of the Wizard of Oz... they are mostly all good, though my boys think the "Great Muppet Caper" is just plain bad. We also have the first three seasons of the TV show that are in our Sunday night rotation for "Dad's Network" programming.

Sure! I'll take a couple of chocolate covered ice cream Mickeys on a stick!

and one of everything else

I remember watching the Muppet Babies cartoon show when I was little... one of my favorite Saturday morning cartoons. Is that the TV show you're talking about or is it a TV show of the "real" muppets? I remember seeing the "real" muppets on TV and having my mom explain the difference between them and the cartoon muppets I was used to but I don't remember if it was one of the movies or maybe a different TV series.

No I'm referring to the original prime-time show, "The Muppet Show" that was on the air in the mid-to late '70s. A classic variety show, Muppet style. The real Muppets were the stars, and each week they had a different popular celebrity as their guest star. The Muppet Babies cartoon came on in the early to mid '80s, if I remember correctly. I watched that one too for a year or two. Which of course was part of the "dream sequence" in "The Muppets Take Manhattan", when Miss Piggy and Kermit are riding in the carriage through Central Park, and Piggy is dreaminig of marrying Kermit... albeit that sequence was Muppet babies in "real" form instead of animated.

Wait, does that mean she's digging in my wallet too?

::yes::

Dole Whips for everyone!

Sigh...I miss that show.

When I think about the magic of Disney, I immediately think about all of the minutest details that they include in everything. Think about the lobby of the Tower of Terror - all of those artifacts and cobwebs and dust were painstakingly planned by Imagineers and placed by an expert crew. Think about Main Street in the Magic Kingdom - where every building facade is detailed with it's own unique identity that fits perfectly with the theme - they're not just random buildings placed there that sort of look alike. I even read somewhere that Disney's costume department even makes their own unmentionables for all of the Princesses. Something that will never, ever been seen by anyone, but they feel needed to be there to fit the theme.

That's why I was shocked shocked! to see this:

IMG00046-20101207-1514.jpg

I was heartbroken! Everything I thought I knew about Disney and their attention to detail was shattered! Is life even worth living anymore? Should I turn in my Mouse Ears and buy a season pass to Universal Studios?

Yes, my perception of Disney was ruined by two out of place tiles on floor of the men's bathroom outside the Art of Animation. But then I thought about it for a second... (Que Flashback sequence)
Several years back Bambi and I took the Segway Tour at Epcot. The guide would take us around World Showcase, pointing out various bits of trivia along the way. One of the things he pointed out was the tile mosaics on the archway in Morocco. He told us that it is Islamic custom to purposely insert some defect in the work - an upside down tile or perhaps several in the wrong place. They intentionally avoid perfection because they believe that only Allah is perfect.

Perhaps the Imagineers that designed this particular bathroom floor intentionality did that! They felt that Walt's work was perfect, so they had the construction crew misplace those two tiles in respect to Walt! Anyway, Plus 2 Internetz points to the first person to pick out the two defects in the picture above. One is pretty easy to spot, but the other takes some work. Ironically, it was the harder one that I first saw. I didn't even see the glaringly obvious one until I started looking at the picture later.

Anyway, after taking care of business in there, I rejoined everyone else over in line for Lotso. Like I said before, he was off in the parade. We had set up camp to be first in line to see him when he got back.

And just like in the movie, he's a hugger!

IMG_3766.JPG

And yes, he does smell like Strawberries!

On our way out of the meet and greet area, we noticed the line for the Incredibles was fairly short, so we hopped in.

Kayden got a big hug from Mrs. Incredible...
IMG_3772.JPG

...and really seemed to enjoy it!
IMG_3774.JPG

While Mrs. Incredible went over to sign his book, Mr. Incredible decided to show Kayden just how strong he was.
IMG_3781.JPG

He decided to demonstrate by doing a few push-ups. Kayden figured that any super hero can do push-ups, but Mr. Incredible should be able to do extra hard push-ups with no problem. So he added a little extra weight...
IMG_3782.JPG

The big guy was pretty surprised by this, but powered through one push-up.

IMG_3790.JPG

After wrapping up out little workout, we ventured outside and found Handy Manny.
IMG_3807.JPG

It was about this time that Madison wanted to see Voyage of the Little Mermaid show again. Not again like again today, but just again as in more than one time ever. It's a pretty cool show the first time you see it. It's really neat times 2 through 4. Times 5 through 7 it's an OK show. Anything after that...

Bambi, Evan and I chilled out on a bench while the rest of the party took in the show.

We reconvened afterwards for anther ride on Toy Story Mania (thank you Fast Pass!). I rode with Madison this time, but couldn't top my score from this morning.
IMG00047-20101207-1720.jpg

It was getting to around dinner time and we had no plans. We kind of figured on just getting counter service but we all felt like sitting down and having someone else bring our food. However, it seems like everybody else in the park had the same idea. I ran to 50's Prime Time, Sci-Fi and Mama Melrose to ask at the podium and use my wit and charm to convince the host or hostess to find us a table. Clearly my wit-and-charm-inator was on the fritz because they all turned me away.

We ended up a Pizza Planet which appears to be where everyone else that couldn't get table service went. The place was absolutely packed. Kaylene spotted a family just starting to clean up and head out so she stalked their table and pounced as soon as they stood up.

Since we were using the dining plan, we all got dessert. I thought the Mickey Crisped Rice (don't all it Rice Krispie!) treat on a stick looked good. (We are from Wisconsin, after all. Our State Fair boasts of more than 60 foods on a stick, including deep fried apple pie, chocolate covered bacon, deep fried PB&J, deep fried Mac and cheese, deep fried cheese cake, and fruit kebabs. Hey! Who let that healthy one in there? Send him back to Illinois!)

Anyway, how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Mickey Crisped Rice treat?

Up Next: What do you mean there's no Ozzy!? It says it's the Osbourne Family Lights!

There is the entire row of mismatched tiles in the square at the top, tan instead of green,
Code:
and then of course the single black one out of place in the center area...
