Everything Old Is New Again! - A Dec 2010 Trip Report : THE FINAL ENTRY page 45

I cannot think of anything better than a meal in the castle with the princesses....some of our best memories have taken place there. The kids look so cute in the pirate garb! I am trying to talk my 6 year old niece into going there but so far no go:confused3

Our 3 newly initiated pirates we ready and raring to go! The boarded their vessels (strollers), battened down the hatches (had mom and dad put the camera bag in the cargo sling) and set sail for adventure (told us to start pushing)!
You you're saying they are in charge? I thought so.

Let me tell you, we were quite a site. Every other family had little girls that either just got done at the Bibbty Bobbity Boitique, were wearing their favorite dress up Princess gown, or was otherwise decked out from head to toe is pink lace. We looked like we just just crossed the Caribbean in hurricane season.
I would have paid money to see that... and I tried. ;)

They were having quite the conversation about pirating.

I love this! Cinderella looks a little scared! :eek:

Photo0100FourBySix.jpg

Great pic!

Before we left on the trip, Kayden made it clear that he was going to kiss every Princess he saw. After we left Cinderella and headed toward the stairs to the dining room, he was 1 for 1. :thumbsup2
LOL Smart kid! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Besides, where else do you get to drink your Diet Coke out of a goblet and be called "My Lord" all the time? Certainly not at my house (despite my best efforts)
:lmao::lmao::lmao:
Yea, for some reason I cannot see that happening at your house. :sad2:

Evan thought his grape was a bit too big, so out comes the CRT sword! (Yay! Another sword! Thanks Disney!)
So, did Evans sword mysteriously break at some point during the day? :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

As I mentioned, this was the first lunch seating, so aside from Cinderella downstairs, none of the other Princesses were out and about yet. Pretty soon, a voice fills the dining room, telling a 3 or 4 minute version of the story of Snow White. As he finishes, he announces her, and she appears from near the exit, walks around the outside of the room for a bit, stops to wave, then starts making her way around the tables, stopping for pictures and autographs at each table.
Thanks for the review.... I wondered how they did it now. :thumbsup2

IMG_3306.JPG

No offense to this girl, but she looks nothing like Aurora. :sad2: :confused3

That's...just...yeah. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Evan.
IMG_3315.JPG

Enough said! Oh, what am I gonna do when I have a son someday???? :eek::scared1::eek:

We left CRTs, and I stopped for a minute to indulge in one Immagineer's little optical illusion. When viewed by an adult, the Cinderella fountain is just Cindy feeding the birds in her servant's dress. When you squat down and view it from a Child's perspective, you see she is destined for royality
IMG_3332.JPG
Obviously, I've never noticed this! Very cool!

Coming Up Next: The pirates finally get a boat!
Hummmmm. I know there are more that 2 boats in MK, but I'm thinking either a Pirates boat or another boat that has a very catchy tune.... I'm HOPING it was the latter..... popcorn::popcorn::

We had thought about eating at the Castle but I had read several mixed reviews...now I wish I had gone with my first instinct. Looks like a lot of fun!!

You you're saying they are in charge? I thought so.

Aren't they always in charge?:confused3

No offense to this girl, but she looks nothing like Aurora. :sad2: :confused3

I don't know if I have ever seen a good Aurora. Or Snow White.

I cannot think of anything better than a meal in the castle with the princesses....some of our best memories have taken place there. The kids look so cute in the pirate garb! I am trying to talk my 6 year old niece into going there but so far no go:confused3

I never thought Madison would go for the Pirate League either. I was convinced one of us (that would be me) would be over at BBB with her while everyone else was at Pirate League. I am so happy that it worked out this way. She was made up like a pirate princess and got all the pampering that she would have at the BBB but at a fraction of the cost.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Should I take some sort of offense to this?:confused3

I don't know.... I cant see you waiting on Barry, filling up his empty cup, and calling him my lord! LOL

Maybe I'm wrong:confused3 Is there something you'd like to share with us?;)

I don't know.... I cant see you waiting on Barry, filling up his empty cup, and calling him my lord! LOL

Unless I am being sarcastic I am not calling anybody "My Lord."

I will wait on him when he is sick or injured but otherwise he is an adult and needs to get off the couch and do it himself. But if I am already in the kitchen - or the general area- will get him something to drink if he asks nicely.

No offense to this girl, but she looks nothing like Aurora. :sad2: :confused3
::yes::
I was thinking the exact same thing, but I didn't want to be the one to say it!:lmao::rotfl2:

I don't know if I have ever seen a good Aurora. Or Snow White.
I've seen some good Snow Whites and you're partially right about Aurora, but most of the time, she is at least ok. I'm not sure how that Aurora got to be Aurora.:confused3

::yes::

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I think we should not look any further into this. Some rocks are better when they are left unturned.... :sad2: :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

With weapons drawn, we charged the check in podium, ready to take on their initial wave of defenses with our cunning, with our bravery, with our daring, and most of all, with our Advanced Dining Reservation!

So cunning, bravery, and daring are worth nothing? Man, I am so disillusioned.

As such, there was only a few families in line when we were ushered into line to meet Cindy.

Awesome. Always fun to go against the grain. :thumbsup2

Before we left on the trip, Kayden made it clear that he was going to kiss every Princess he saw. After we left Cinderella and headed toward the stairs to the dining room, he was 1 for 1. :thumbsup2

Yeah, way to drop the ball on this one. Good thing Bambi was there for the rebound!

Besides, where else do you get to drink your Diet Coke out of a goblet and be called "My Lord" all the time? Certainly not at my house (despite my best efforts)

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Not even on your birthday?

I've tried this as well, but instead of deference I usually get a lecture about how if I'm eating something with 8,000 calories, the Diet Coke isn't going to help me. :confused3

Ariel (I had the fish for lunch, but I didn't tell her. Just in case it would hurt her feelings.)

Good call. If she eats the fish, is it considered cannibalism?

That's...just...yeah. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Evan.
IMG_3315.JPG

Hmm. Looks like he had the seafood too.

The food was good. I hope you didn't come here for a foodie review, because I don't recall what anyone had. I just know I had some kind of locally caught fish with a funny name. Over noodles. With a red sauce. If you're ever given the the opportunity, go ahead and order it. You won't be disappointed. And speaking of disappointing, let's get back to the Trip Report.

Miss, I'd like the vague fishy substance, noodles and ketchup. With a goblet of Diet Coke.

We left CRTs, and I stopped for a minute to indulge in one Immagineer's little optical illusion. When viewed by an adult, the Cinderella fountain is just Cindy feeding the birds in her servant's dress. When you squat down and view it from a Child's perspective, you see she is destined for royality.

Another one to file in the "Disney is awesome" bin.

Coming Up Next: The pirates finally get a boat!

We're gonna need a bigger boat.

Barry, great pictures at Cinderella's Royal Table. In our over 20 visits, we have NEVER eaten there. When our boys were younger, they would not be caught dead eating in a castle with princesses. Now that they are 25 and 22, I have a feeling they'd be delighted to eat witih a princess:
Thanks! The boys tend to get a little more interaction with the Princesses. So many little girls come through there, that I think the Princesses get a break from the monotony of it with the boys. And it's in a castle, which is cool.

I love your trip reports. So, uh, how many kisses did Kayden leave with?

I never knew that about the Cinderella fountain - that's really cool.
Thanks. As Bambi pointed out, he was 5 for 5. I try to not let facts get in the way of telling a good story. :rolleyes1

Love it, Barry! Again, Molly is rivetted!
Hi Molly! I'm glad you're reading along! This is for you:
:dance3::cheer2::grouphug::rockband:
:dancer::dancer::dancer:party:party:
:jumping1::jumping1::rainbow::rainbow:
:Pinkbounc:bounce::Pinkbounc:bounce:

Looks like he's having a little trouble slicing that grape. Obviously, it isn't a sword that was made by Will Turner.
No, it wasn't. But the swordsmith did sign it: "©Disney China". Kind of a funny name if you ask me.

I've never been to CRT... is this something that just happens when they start serving or do the princesses leave for breaks and get re-introduced so later arriving guests can hear their stories?
Not sure - this is the first time we've seen it. Every other time we've been seated when they're already making their rounds.

CRT looks like a lot of fun... I've never been there but would like to sometime. I'm pretty sure we won't be doing it on our next trip, but maybe a few years down the road when everyone will be able to enjoy it. I guess eating in the castle isn't that big of a deal to me yet because I've never experienced it
It's a fun experience. I've always enjoyed the food. The menu makes it sound a bit hoity toity, but it's not real far out there.

I believe I talked about a trip around your brithday and you shot the idea down.
Shhhh.... you're supposed to keep that a secret from me.
Now that I think about it...I don't think I have EVER mentioned this before but...have you thought maybe it would be cheaper to move to Florida? I'm just saying there may be a few benifits to the idea. :confused3
You haven't? Really? I seem to remember a few times...
Wow. You really did leave everyone hanging.

At the end of the meal Kayden is 5 for 5 and is on :cloud9:
Again, facts just muddy up my storytelling. That's what I have you for - come in, fill in the gaps, add witty banter, and tell everyone when I'm wrong. :hug:

He is sooooooo YOUR son.
Yes. Yes he is.

You actually had two servings of the fish. You became upset when I asked for mine without fish that you were given mine.
I don't know if I'd call it "upset". I just didn't want the chef to have his feelings hurt that someone didn't want his fish. Or the fisherman that's trying to make an honest living, put a roof over his family's head and send his kids off to college? How would he feel if someone order the fish, sans-fish?

great update barry!:thumbsup2 we use to eat in the castle when briana was little. you stopped to see cindy and we stopped to see rickey rudder and prince charlie.:lmao: the last time we ate there was 2005 for diner. nothin wrong with wiping some pirate make up off on ciny!:thumbsup2
Thanks Dave! Cindy seemed to enjoy it as well!

I am enjoying reading your trip report and the children are adorable. I am definitely subscribing...can't wait to read more!
Thank you and Welcome!

I love love LOVE that your kids were dressed as pirates in the castle. Oh that just made my day!
Glad we could help! We tend to do things a little differently, but the kids always have a good time.

I cannot think of anything better than a meal in the castle with the princesses....some of our best memories have taken place there. The kids look so cute in the pirate garb! I am trying to talk my 6 year old niece into going there but so far no go:confused3
Why talk her into it? Just make it a surprise and go! I can't imagine any 6 year old girl not loving that!

You you're saying they are in charge? I thought so.
Totally.

I would have paid money to see that... and I tried. ;)
That would have been awesome if you could have gotten the BBB at the castle. But there's always next time. :rolleyes1

I love this! Cinderella looks a little scared! :eek:
Wouldn't you be too, seeing a hoard of pirates coming at you, with no one to protect you but a photopass photographer?

LOL Smart kid! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2
He set a goal, he followed through. :)

So, did Evans sword mysteriously break at some point during the day? :rolleyes1:rolleyes1
No, but I'm sure it was confiscated one or two times. But, being a pirate, he would always steal it back.
Enough said! Oh, what am I gonna do when I have a son someday????
I have a feeling Juliana will demand a deadbolt on her bedroom door.

Hummmmm. I know there are more that 2 boats in MK, but I'm thinking either a Pirates boat or another boat that has a very catchy tune.... I'm HOPING it was the latter..... popcorn::popcorn::
Wrong on both guesses ;)

We had thought about eating at the Castle but I had read several mixed reviews...now I wish I had gone with my first instinct. Looks like a lot of fun!!
Dining reviews are just people's opinion. And people that write dining reviews seem to have to have a strong opinion one way or another. I don't think I've ever had bad food anywhere in Disney World. Give it a try next time! Lauren will love it!

I'm glad she did it too! The three of them looked so cute together. Except the boys - they looked rugged and tough, not cute.

Should I take some sort of offense to this?:confused3

I don't know.... I cant see you waiting on Barry, filling up his empty cup, and calling him my lord! LOL

Maybe I'm wrong:confused3 Is there something you'd like to share with us?;)

I will wait on him when he is sick or injured but otherwise he is an adult and needs to get off the couch and do it himself. But if I am already in the kitchen - or the general area- will get him something to drink if he asks nicely.
I'm staying out of this. Because I know what's good for me.

However...Aurora...looked a little psycho...:eek:
:eek::eek:

So cunning, bravery, and daring are worth nothing? Man, I am so disillusioned.
No, the cunning, bravery and daring come when you need to make your ADRs at 7:00am 180 days out!

Yeah, way to drop the ball on this one. Good thing Bambi was there for the rebound!
She's the real star of the TR. I just type the words.

Not even on your birthday?
I'll try on my next one, but my magic crystal ball says "Reply hazy, try again"
<shake> <shake> <turns it over again> "Don't count on it"

I've tried this as well, but instead of deference I usually get a lecture about how if I'm eating something with 8,000 calories, the Diet Coke isn't going to help me. :confused3
Maybe if you deep fried the Diet Coke...:confused3

Good call. If she eats the fish, is it considered cannibalism?
Only if she eats the back half. Conversely, eating the top have of human would be cannibalism, but from the waist down it's OK. Next lesson: what part of a horse can a centaur eat without being a cannibal?

Hmm. Looks like he had the seafood too.
I believe you mean "see food"

Miss, I'd like the vague fishy substance, noodles and ketchup. With a goblet of Diet Coke.
Menus are too wordy. That's simple and to the point. And slightly disgusting.

We're gonna need a bigger boat.
No, that ride is over at Universal Studios. We stayed in the Magic Kingdom.

Fresh off our castle siege and loaded down with our plunder (ie, full bellies) we headed back to Adventureland to take care of some business. The morning had been pretty tightly planned between the Pirates League and CRT lunch. So our afternoon was to be used to do all of the things we had to walk right past earlier in the day.
And where might you think 3 young pirates would want to head? Perhaps to a pirate themed ride? Of course! That's why we made a bee line to...

IMG_3342.JPG

...The Magic Carpets of Aladdin! Hey - you watch the first 30 minutes of Aladdin and tell me he's not a pirate. Stealing stuff, running from the law, swashbuckling. Sure, he doesn't have a parrot, but he has a monkey. And really, what's a parrot but just a monkey with feathers, right?

While the kids rode the Magic Carpets of Aladdin® (legal disclaimer: any similarities, real or implied, between the Magic Carpets of Aladdin® and other spin-in-a-circle,-go-up-and-down rides including but not limited to Dumbo The Flying Elephant, Triceratops Spin and Astro Orbiter is merely coincidence. The are all totally different rides. You're just imagining things if you think otherwise) I made a FastPass Run over to Buzz Lightyear. I caught the end of the "Dream Along with Mickey" show on the castle stage and snapped a quick cell phone picture

IMG00040-20101206-1334.jpg

After securing the FPs, I waited around for just a bit to meet up with the best nemesis a guy could ask for: Tim! (screen name: that's nice). Tim and I have been sworn enemies for like, a few months or so. He mentioned on his PRT (I think) that he didn't have a nemesis, so I jumped at the chance. We had actually met briefly last March when we were both in the MK. This time, however, I got to meet is wife Mel and lovely daughter, Juliana. Unfortunately, this meeting was quite brief as I had to get back before my crew staged a mutiny and commandeered the flying carpets. Before parting, we made plans to meet up for Wishes that night.

So I made my way back to Adventureland. (For those of you keeping track, this makes at least 4 trips past Aloha Isle without stopping for a Dole Whip. This makes me sad just thinking about it.)

The crew had just disembarked from the carpets and we were ready and raring to go to finally get on that most infamous of Pirate Boat Rides...

IMG_3343.JPG

...The Jungle Cruise!

I had grabbed FastPasses on our walk from the Pirates League to CRT and it was time to use them. In addition to this being their first ride on the Jungle Cruise, this was Kaylene & Kayden's first experience with FastPass. The posted wait time was about 45 minutes, so there were quite a few people standing in the standby line. And with the way that the FastPass line goes for the Jungle Cruise, we walk past just about all of them. Kaylene said she felt bad,walking right on the boat while all of those people were standing there waiting. I explained that everyone in the park can use FastPass, and those people decided not to. She still felt a twinge of guilt, but I assured her it would pass.

The cruise was pretty good - I have had better, but I've certainly had worse. She really had to scrape the bottom of her pun barrel at the end, though. There was a backup of 3 or 4 boats waiting to unload so we had to wait probably 10 extra minutes. I'll give her credit - she kept the puns coming the entire time. ("Please be careful getting out of the boat. If you slip, it's a fireable offense. You'll fall into the water and get wet, I'll point and laugh and get fired")

We carefully stepped off of our vessel and back to dry land. And as everyone knows, Pirates dread dry land. They crave the open seas. There is only one place where we could go to satisfy that burning need. Yes, we finally made it to...

IMG_3349.JPG

Kayden was a little worried about the dark, but soon got over it and we all really enjoyed the ride.

It was about 2:30 when we got out of Pirates, so we reckoned it was time to mosey on over to Frontierland to stake out a claim on a spot to watch the parade. (See how I switched there from all the pireate-y talk to cowboy talk for Frontierland? Pretty good, no?)

IMG_3381.JPG

A dog walking on all 4 paws? That just doesn't make any sense.
IMG_3383.JPG

All of the parade floats were the standard afternoon parade fare, with no extra holiday decorations - until we got to the Princess Float. It pulls double duty, also running in Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parade. It was all strung with garland, ornaments and a giant "Happy Holidays" sign. It didn't look out of place, though, as I didn't even notice these things until I went through all of my pictures after we got home.
IMG_3421.JPG

After the parade, we still had about 30 minutes before our next engagement. Bambi and I decided to find a nice bench for a few minutes while everyone else went into the Country Bear Jamboree. It's a cute show, and the kids really love it. And the grandparents love taking them to it. So we let them. So we don't have to.

Just before 4pm, the Jamboree let out, we gathered the troops and set off for...

IMG_3438.JPG

More Pirate Stuff!

Everyday at 4pm, all of the kids that went to the Pirates League that day are invited back to take part in a Pirate Parade around Adventureland. (I'd apologize for the shadows in the pictures, but it's not really my fault. The late afternoon sun was setting and casting shadows that wreaked havoc on my camera's ability to properly meter the light. I blame Galileo. If he didn't figure out that the sun, not the earth, were the center of the solar system, we wouldn't have this problem.)

I think he's casting a spell.

Several Pirate CMs led the kids in pirate chants, then had them all grab a rope. The CM let them around Adventureland, in and out of the Pirate store and finally to the front of the Pirates League. All the while, they were chanting Pirate chants.

The group shot (minus Evan, who was feeling shy and didn't want to do the parade)
IMG_3456.JPG

Each little pirate got a handful of treasure (small plastic jewels which I'm pretty sure have all been lost already) and certificate saying the were in the parade. As soon as all of the treasure has been divvied up, this guy appeared:
IMG_3463.JPG

Now, what do you suppose a crusty old Sea Dog like him was doing at Walt Disney World? Well, he heard that there was a new bunch of Pirates, and he was recruiting and training crew members for Captain Jack Sparrow himself. Any interested parties were invited over to have a look for themselves.

IMG_3468.JPG

Pretty soon, the captain himself appeared to help train the new recruits.

IMG_3474.JPG

And who do you suppose got picked to train for Jack's crew? None other than our own little Pirate Princess:

Here she is practicing Captain Jack's most important move. The "Distract them and Run Away"

Up Next: Night falls upon the Magic Kingdom

Great update!

I will be back later to comment on this but I think it is awesome that our TRs are at the same day & practically the same time. :lmao:

Great pictures Barry! Now when will Bambi be by to write the update?:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

...The Magic Carpets of Aladdin! Hey - you watch the first 30 minutes of Aladdin and tell me he's not a pirate. Stealing stuff, running from the law, swashbuckling. Sure, he doesn't have a parrot, but he has a monkey. And really, what's a parrot but just a monkey with feathers, right?
Well.... now that you mention it.:rotfl2::lmao:

She still felt a twinge of guilt, but I assured her it would pass.
Guilt??? Heck, I like to gloat as I go by... you should be telling the poor saps standing in line to call you My Lord as you walk past drinking your diet coke in a goblet.:rotfl:

After the parade, we still had about 30 minutes before our next engagement. Bambi and I decided to find a nice bench for a few minutes while everyone else went into the Country Bear Jamboree. No trip is complete without a show from the country bears. That was my favorite thing when I was little. I'd hate to think how many times my parents had to sit through that with me back then.

Looks like the kids had a great time at the pirate parade. That's pretty cool that the pirate princess got up on stage for a lesson from Captain Jack himself. :cool2:pirate:
