My DD 13 is now in a phase where everything is "stupid". School is stupid, her teachers are stupid, the dog is stupid, etc. etc. etc.

Anyone else ever deal with this issue from their teen?

Brutus is adorable. I can't believe he's stupid.
I'm sure she is just going through a phase. If you don't focus on it, it will pass much quicker. Atleast thats what I have learned.

Hey - my oldest DD is a Kelsey also & many times everything is stupid to her too (she is 17 now though).

We have told our kids that when they call things/people stupid that they sound actually sound "stupid" & unintelligent. It usually gets them to stop for a while.

Good luck! :)

I have a ds12 who thinks everything is a d@$n thing...."Where are my d@$n pants" ... "I hate my d@$n homework"...etc.

Ahhhhh...remember when we couldn't wait for them to talk??

My 15 DS's latest is "that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of." Only thing is he says this about something around 2-3 times a day :) I told him today that his idea of the dumbest thing ever sure changes quickly.

Oh teenagers-gotta love them!

Brutus looks like he's trying to escape..... :rotfl:

I think it's a teen thing. And although it wouldn't be my favorite thing to hear day in and day out, it's a lot more benign than a lot of other stuff I hear from some of the other young teens we see around these parts.

Of course I only have a 9 year old, who all of a sudden has decided to call me 'dude'. "errm, excuse me, I'm not your dude, I'm your mom"

A couple years ago my DS, who is 15 now went through a phase where he was constantly calling me "dude". Luckily it has passed. :rotfl:

I swear if I hear stupid out of my DD 13 mouth again I am going to explode !!!!
We have just passed the "Dude" stage.

My DD called her father stupid last week. I looked at her and said "yes your right he is, I have been telling him the same thing since he bought you that new horse and pays the academy to keep it up there for you"

I havent heard Stupid since LOL

Fortunately we haven't gotten to this phase yet, but it certainly sounds annoying. I remember reading this hilarious trip report a few years ago about a family that took their 15-year-old son and younger daughter to WDW. The only adjective the boy seemed to know was "lame" and by the end of the trip the father was ready to kill him.

I am not looking forward to the "I'm-too-incredibly-cool-to-admit-I-like-anything stage.

Even I have to admit Brutus acts stupid some times. ;)

Fortunatly Carl has finally passed thru the "Sweeeeet", "Stupid" and "Dude" phases...with side trips to "Pie!". He is now at the "Nice!" phase (you know that room deordorizer commercial where everybody sniffs and says "Nice!"? Well that's where that came from) with some "S&ck!" thrown in for good measure and balance.

When I was his age it was "No Duh!" which quickly became my stepfather's pet peeve.

I'm kinda interested in what comes next.

Welcome to the Teen Years :smooth: Fasten your seatbelts. It's gonna be a bumpy ride

Reading these replies has got me giggling. With 3 teens in the house, I've heard them all. :rotfl:

My boyfriend does this! And he's 28! EVERYTHING is stupid to him. I've recently told him to stop saying that so much since my 5 year old daughter has picked up on it and uses that word frequently now too. Some kids never grow up.

My dd12 says things are ugly. Doesn't want to get up in the morning because mornings are ugly. Showers before bed are ugly. Setting the table is ugly.
We are still in the "dude" and "sweet" phase with both kids.

I get "dude" a lot from my 15 year old daughter! I'm embarassed to admit that every now and then "dude" comes out of my mouth too! At first I did it to tease my daughter when she did it. For example, she comes home and says, "dude, I got an A on my science test." Then I'd respond, "awesome dude!" Now I find myself seriously doing the dude thing. "Dude, you need to turn that TV down." That is just plain sad. Just be careful everybody; dude can be contagious. :rotfl2:

Another one she does is "random." For example, she runs into a friend at the store and says, "Dude, that was random." All her friends use that word a LOT and they sound kinda weird. Is anybody else hearing this one from their kids????

I have two 19yo and a 20yo and they think I know nothing, so I guess I'm stupid.

Carl does this one alllllll the time. "Tia, that's so random".

Talk about random - using that word can be totally random. :rolleyes1
