To quote the evil Emperor from Star Wars

Since I just finished up grad school this year the funds were looking pretty tight for getting a Disney vacation this year. Not only was funding short, but I had actually sold my F-250 when I started grad school to help offset the cost of college, so no truck to pull the TT. Free dining opened up a window for us from 11/15 through 11/21, but we were gonna have to stay at Coronado Springs, so we took it to at least get the trip even though I really wanted the Fort.

Well...some things have now happened. We are bringing my niece along for the trip, so with her we had 5 people total going. They told us it was okay, the preferred rooms at Coronado would hold us all, so we booked it. So three days ago I was booking some dinner reservations and they discovered that an error had occurred and they had originally listed my youngest as 2 y/o instead of her actual 3 y/o. This meant we were gonna have to get two rooms or change to the cabins, which exploded the cost through the roof. Now it is looking as though the trip is off...

Buuuttt...

My neighbor, the one I sold the F-250 to has informed me he no longer needs the truck, and he didn't even use it...like 2500 miles is all he put on it, so I bought it back.

I called Disney this morning and told them I no longer wanted the resort...or their free dining...and give me my home away from home at the Fort from 11/15 through 11/21. Then I got really jumpy and added two more days onto the trip to last through 11/23. So now I got 8 days at the Fort, with only 6 days of park tickets to leave me two days to just sit around and relax.

Guess I better get started on my Mickey Lamp...

1) Ta-Da !!!
2) Glad it worked out.
3) As nice as CSR is, The Fort is still the best resort (in my NOT-SO-HUMBLE opinion).

Scup I may hit you up in a few days via PM regarding some cart questions should I decide to bring my own this year instead of the bikes.

Been bringing my own cart for 5 years. Follow the rules and you should have no problems. If its loading and unloading questions, scup is probably a better resource, we use a trailer for 2 carts and our unloading does not involve the bed height of the truck.

1) No Problem.
2) GENERAL rules are
. . . under 400 horsepower
. . . speed under 80 mph
. . . no Racing Slick tires
3) Of course, there are some minor SPECIFIC rules that further detail the above.
4) Many, many folks prefer to bring their own carts.
5) We are torn
. . . about 50% of the time we do carts
. . . about 50% of the time we do bikes
. . . about 10% of the time we do walking
. . . but, we can't just seem to get above the 100% mark for some reason

:cool1:

So if I put turf tires on the shifter cart it might meet the rules?!?!??! Actually I would never do that, too low to the ground. I like our nice quiet 4 seater electric carts.

I gave up on bringing a bike at least for myself. I brought it the first two years I traveled with our regular group when we only had one 4 seater golf cart. I rode it once the first year, never took it off the bike rack the second year. It was never an issue of riding it down to the busses (300 or 500 loop so the walk to the marina was no issue.) It was returning from Epcot or DTD after a couple adult libations that made balencing a challenge I was not up for.

I am so happy for you that the Fairy Dust has brought you this blessing! Now you have something special to plan for and look forward to!

Sounds like me. I'm always adding a day here and there when I call central res for any reason. But then again is there such a thing as too much time at the Fort? :rotfl2:

Congrats! Sounds like everything is falling into place.

Talk about out of the blue...
Hard part is gonna be keeping this a secret from the kids. Figuring we will have everything loaded up when they get home from school and just tell them we are going to stay at a Jellystone park for the weekend in order to help explain the golfcart in the truck.

Gotta get started on that Mickey Lamp...
Oh, and get the Christmas decorations down early this year:bitelip:

1) Cool
2) Dang...
Dang again...
Uuummm, well, they got a little tread left on them...
Maybe if I put a giant anchor behind the cart and let it drag the ground...

Welcome "home", tiggerdad. :cool1: Bama Ed

Now I just need to decide which premium loop to request. Gonna bring the decorations as heavy as I can bring, wound like to land a spot with some room.

I would request 400 loop again, but Ed brought up in his trip report that the squirrels were still a bit bent out of shape over that dice game...

I had made a list of really good looking sites from my previous trip, I just have to find the darn thing...

Congratulations. Glad everything fell into place. pixiedust:

Tiggerdad, Your not safe anywhere at the Fort. In Feb we were in loop 700 & my squirrel friend asked if we knew you & his buddy the turkey, did not believe I did not know you. Have a blast in November. I also will never stay anywhere except FW!! Even though I had to lie to the squirrel.:cool1:

1) It is not the squirrels of which you need to fear.
2) The other animals are the problems !!!
. . . the five-foot tall chipmunks (C&D)
. . . the seven-foot tall bear (Humphrey)

I don't know Scup, we may both be wrong. Mightyexplorers is posting pics of a bunch of chickens under heavy lock and key. I don't know what they did, but I hope they don't make parole anytime soon.

As I understand it,
. . . It is only a temporary situation.
. . . They are actually ex-Pleasure-Island-Comedy-Club players in costume.
. . . They are so out of practice, their performance laid-an-egg.
. . . So henpecked that their spouses wouldn't let them rehearse ahead of time.
. . . Now, they are being punished for it.
. . . And, someone said the actors are brooding over it.

Figured they would have flown the coop by now...

Actually I have a theory on the chickens.

The sign posted states "RCID virus study" now some might think this means reedy creek improvement district. It doesn't. Is stands for "Radio Cellular Identification" I believe it will be the successor to the magic band. Disney is working on a viral delivery system to embed RFID on the cellular level this will allow you to just hold up your hand to a park scanner and pay for things with the touch of a finger.

The chickens themselves are the test delivery system and one if the reasons that fried chicken at the fort is so affordable.

At least that is what heard from a bus driver.
