First I want 2 say I am thrilled to be a part of this board the people on here are greatttttt. My first trip to WDW and I am dreaming about WDW day and night I hope that I have not set my expecatations up and It does not live up to how I have imagine, well to stay on the topic can anyone give me some info on Kona, what is it like, the food , is it similar to Ohana's, just what ever bit of info you would like to share, Kimmie:moped:

Hi - I'm fairly new here too, and I agree, these boards are great! I can't tell you much about Kona, since I've never eaten there either, but I do have ADRs for this September! I've read tons of reviews, and Kona seems to be one of the highest rated restaurants at WDW. As for WDW itself, I can tell you that it truly is a magical place, and I'm sure you'll love it! There is no other place like it in the world - hard to describe, but you'll know what I mean when you get there! Have a wonderful time!

The Polynesian Thread has tons of great info on it including stuff about the KonaCafe..I love that thread. I am staying at the Poly for the first time in Sept. and have 2 ressies for breakfast..so I'm interested to hear anything and everything about Kona too. Somebody said they were rushed through their meal there on the Poly thread..but that was the only negative, recent thing I've read so far. I'm dying to eat there:)

I too would like to hear about Kona. I could only snag a lunch ressie, can anyone recommend what to order during that time???

We just came back from 10-nights at POR on DxDP and ate at Kona for dinner on 6/4. It was one of my best meals! We loved it. We ate at the following places for lunch/dinner, just to get an idea of what we rated Kona against:

Cali Grill -- really good, DH & DD13 had the salmon & I the filet
Jiko -- also good, but my kids felt they were eating "flowers"
Yachtsman -- my other favorite
Narcoossee's -- surf & turf; filet was good, lobster bad!
Boma -- good
Tusker House -- we liked this better than Boma
Tutto Italia -- HATED it!
Planet Hollywood -- they should close this place down - awful
Crystal Palace - I enjoy it, but family says it's just okay now
1900 Park Fare - not too high on my list, DS9 gave it a 10 (best pizza)
50's PTC - family enjoyed it; I was in the first aid station w/migraine
Plaza - okay for just sandwiches
Boatwright's - okay
Le Cellier - okay, but definately didn't live up to the hype (had many better meals)
Garden Grill - not bad; not DH's favorite
Riverside Mill Food Court "build your own pasta" - much better pasta than Tutto Italia & Counter Service!!!
Marrakesh - good & enjoyed the belly dancer at lunch

If I had to rate, I think I would put:
1. Kona
2. Yachtsman
3. Cali Grill
4. Jiko
5. Tusker House

Go to Kona and enjoy it! As you can see, we ate at some very nice places & it was definately my favorite.

It is one of our favorite local restaurants to visit. Sometimes we start out with PotStickers or Sticky Wings followed by the Hawaiian plate for lunch. Usually end up with a pressed pot of 100% Kona coffee. If you want a sugar rush don't be afraid to order a Kiddee Kone(sp?) Ice Cream ,Wafflecone, Sprinkles,Cotton Candy etc. Hey we're all kids at Disney right?:thumbsup2 Enjoy your stay!:)

Our family all loves Kona and it is a "must do" for dinner every trip. The next trip we're going to try the breakfast too.

I love love love Kona Cafe for dinner. Gosh those sticky wings are fantastic. However, I just had lunch there last month, and was not too impressed. Neither my husband nor myself were that happy with our lunch entrees, and didn't really feel it was worth the money. But we wholeheartedly recommend dinner. yum yum.

Love, love, love eating at Kona. We had our anniversary dinner there last summer. We had the crab cakes, DH had the prime rib and I couldn't decide between the shrimp/scallops and the mahi mahi. I ended up with the mahi mahi and our waitress somehow came out with 2 scallops for us to try.:)
The prime rib was huge, the mahimahi very tasty. We had a special anniversary dessert AND the creme brulee (our favorite dessert).
