Everyone with a bedspread death wish, check in here!

After reading a thread on bedspreads on this board my husband & I went away over night. Of course I start taking the bedspread off, I had NEVER done this before. He asked me what I was doing and he thought I was nuts  when I told him why I was doing it. The comforter stayed on and we are still alive :rotfl:

I also don't clean the hotel rooms, disney's or anywhere else. It's a vacation. I do enought house work the other 50 weeks of the year.

This is why God gave us all white blood cells............................. :rotfl2:

:rotfl: Why worry, Be HAPPY!, that you are at WDW

Aren't the blankets under the bedspread just as bad? especially if people remove the bedspreads and then the blankets are on top? or do they wash the blankets more?

Too bad someone taking microbiology couldn't "grow" what's on those things :rotfl:

Sorry I'm posting again right after myself, but as I was looking through the thread I thought of something that has to be worse than the bedspreads at WDW....

how about the furry character costumes?

LOL LOL LOL! Imagine all those germ-encrusted kiddos hugging the characters--we all know what little kids do with their fingers! Love it, love it, love it! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I am definitely worse than some folks on this thread, but I don't completely strip the bedspread off. I just fold it back so I can see if there is anything ugly on the underside. Then I leave it folded back. And DS has been known to sit on the bedspread (but only if he is fully clothed and he isn't allowed to put his face on the spread). We bring XXL T-shirts to put over the pillow cases and I wipe the remote with an anti-bacterial wipe. I also wipe down the bathroom counter. But that's all! I swear!! :bitelip:

I would just like to say that as parent of a DS(8) & DD(11) all staying in one room at Pop there is not much spilling of any bodily fluids happening...from them or from us! So fear not if you get the room after us!

Add us to the death wish club. :rotfl2:

I don't even open those threads. Way too much info and my imagination is active enough as it is. ;)

Like others, I turn the spreads down before bed...as close to the type of thing mousekeeping does as I can get! :teeth:

Add me to the club -- remove the bedspread -- never! We walk barefooted of the carpet. Don't you sit on the bus seats when you go to the parks, hold onto the handrails when you ride the bus, hold onto the rail on the rides? My husband and I never get sick -- maybe a cold ever couple years. The friends and coworkers that I hear hacking all the time are the people most pressed over touching door handles. Our bodies are meant to build up a resistance to germs -- using all these germicides only makes the problem worse.

I love how many people ahead of me work in hospitals and don't remove the bedspreads.

Never knew I lived on the edge til now! We've sat on the bedspreads, walked barefoot on the carpets, touched the TV remote without benefit of a ziplock bag and never packed any kind of cleaning products since '96 and we're still alive!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I am sorry that is the first thing I thought when reading this thread......although it should be dry by the time you check in.... :rotfl: :rotfl:

Have a great trip whenever you go!!!!

It's funny, I had never thought about the bedspreads not being washed after each guest. I just figured they were always clean until I came across this site. I agree however, that our bodies will fight off anything that is on them. We've never had a problem with it. If I was really paranoid I could tell the hotel that my child is highly allergic and ask them to please make sure the bedspreads are washed. :)

If you have ever had a family member under go chemo or any illness that compromises someone's immune system you have to worry about the germs on the remote, the bedspread, the bathroom, door handles...etc... We never leave home without the Lysol!!!!!!

Love that Lysol.....and the Bedspread will be going into the closet!!!!!

Add me to the list of bedspread users :). I have actually brought Lysol wipes to WDW with me and forgotten to use them :rotfl:.

I love the bedspreads so much that I bought a used All Star Movies bedspread on Ebay for my bed at home. Bring on the germs. :rotfl2:

I too use the bedspreads. But alas, :guilty: I know bring the Lysol spray and wipes. I have been to the world 5 times in the last 3 years. The first three trips, either myself, my BF, or both of us got sick. So on the forth trip, I Lysol'd everything!! Bedspread, carpet, curtains, chairs, sinks, if it didn't move...it got sprayed. I use the wipes on the remote control, all door handles and all handles in the bathroom/sink areas. Neither did my boyfriend or myself get sick. Same thing on the last trip. In fact, I ran into mousekeeping, and she said she loved the smell of my Lysol and bought some for her home! I don't remember the name, but its in the pink can.

So, what bracket does this put me in.... :confused3 I use everything, walk barefoot, but I use Lysol.

Chris

Germs schmerms......I walk on the wild side. I sit on the bedspreads, walk barefoot in the room, dont think about bringing lysol and a host of other things that might terrify less risk taking peoples. I know the bedspreads aren't cleaned regularly and that germs abound everywhere. But, its not worth my time to clean the entire room once I check in. If I see something yucky then I will ask to have it cleaned or replaced. If not, I will go with the flow. I dont sleep with the bedspread though, but I will sit on it to watch tv and such. Ive taught the sweetpea to wash her hands regularly, not put them on her face or in her mouth, and be on the look out for "germy" things. Its part of our life so she is aware. Im not gonna let a bedspread keep me from enjoying my vacation. Chances of getting something are very slim. Why worry and stress over something that might not even be. Besides, Ive never heard of someone dying from sitting on a hotel bedspread.

Wow, thanks for all the input, I just ordered my airtight, self-contained, waterproof space suit, for my next WDW trip. Do you think I could request that a big plastic bubble be delivered to my room prior to my arrival? Maybe I could sleep suspended from the ceiling by wires, this way no body part would touch the bed, and I figure I could bathe in the volcano pool, it's chlorinated. When do you think the character costumes were sterilized last, I'd like to at least shake hands with Mickey or Goofy, hug, no way. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
