Everyone we need to ride Astro Orbiters!

We like to ride it at night, typically during the Halloween or Christmas parties as lines can be non-existent for this.

Does anyone else sometimes feel like they are going to fall out of the ship on this ride though? Maybe that is just me. Still love it though.

Is it fair to say it's Dumbo up high? Or is there something different about it?

I read somewhere that it spins around about twice as fast as Dumbo? Also, the rockets are smaller, my wife and I had a tough time squeezing into the rocket. I'm 6'3", I don't know what the CM was thinking when he said we would fit no problem.

We hadn't done AO for a long time, because the line moves so slow. On last trip, we tried to get FP at kiosk for it, and discovered that AO doesn't have FP. Later that night, during the parade, we were walking by and saw no line, i.e. we would be on the next elevator up, so we said why not? About 5 minute wait for elevator. We get upstairs and there are two groups of riders up there, and only one poor overworked CM who was dealing with some guest problem. It probably took another 10-15 minute wait upstairs before we got on the ride. We thought we'd be able to hop on and ride, but it ended up being about 25 minutes total.

We didn't get a chance to ride it last trip, but I really want to in September! I think my kids would love it and I have fond memories from when I was a kid.

My kids love it- they are 4 and 5 and it's their favorite ride. They used to call it the Rocket Ship Ride. Lines are always fairly short for us and you get great views!

I like it, but the line is just too long and slow-moving for us for what it is. I mostly travel with my boyfriend to Disney, and his fear of heights combined with how slow the wait is only ends up creating a panic attack. If we see the line is short we will jump on, but I just can't wait that long for it! I would rather wait that long for something else. It can be fun though!

I'm not a fan of it because of the elevators. If they have the "people movers" like up to the TTA and Space Mountain, I'd ride it more often.

Sorry, but I have to pass. I did it once and that was enough. The spin/circle on it was too tight and caused me a bit of nausea and some serious equilibrium issues for the rest of the day.

The line moves way too slowly, too. Maybe that is why it is not as popular. That is a long time to wait to get sick to your stomach. LOL

If you do plan to ride it, nighttime is the best!!

I took this at night while spinning around up there. It is not a fantastic picture, I am sharing it to show that the view was fantastic...if you can focus on it that is. I could not focus on much with my own eyes as the spin was tight and quick, but my camera caught this.

Meh. One and done for me. Most of the time the line is just too long. It has to be one of the slowest loading rides in WDW. And for what? An uncomfortably fitting, gussied up version of a midway whirly go puke that only lasts 90 seconds. Not worth the time it takes even though the view is nice.

Being up high, the views at night are fantastic!. Having said that, if the line is more than 15 or 20 minutes we don't bother.

It was my rope drop last year. Dumbo, Magic Carpet and Astro Orbitor are pretty much the same, but the views from Astro is amazing.

I never ride it, but DH and DD like to have it as their last ride of the trip. We see the fireworks, then head into Tomorrowland while the crowds thin out. I take DS on Buzz one last time, DH and DD ride Astro Orbitor for the terrific view to say goodbye.

Rode with 4 yo DD just last week. Rode at night in the rain and we both loved it. Faster than it looks and wonderful views. But then DD and I love the spinny rides. DH not so much.

Astro Orbitor terrifies me.

I rode it a few years ago with my DD and it felt like I was go to fall out of the rocket --- those centrifugal forces! DD still teases me every trip about riding it. Yes, I'm a chicken!

First time I rode it, it was with a friend (another grown man) who is afraid of heights. We wedged ourselves into the rocket, held on, and put the lever down to get the widest circle possible. We were both scrambling to hang onto the sides, it's exhilarating/terrifying.

For anyone saying it's "Dumbo with rockets" I suggest you try riding it again. We seriously felt plastered against the side of the rocket compared to Dumbo/Aladdin. I really don't think it's the height. If anything, the higher you are the slower you should perceive you're going (like how planes look so slow but if it was right next to you going flat-out it'd blow you away).

The biggest issue is the wait to ride an elevator and then wait some more. BLEGH

We call it the rocket ship ride too! Our 2013 trip our daughter saw it and wanted to ride, but the line was huge and we never got back there... so guess what ride she talked about all the time. So our 2014 trip we did it early in the morning. My husband and her (age 4) in one ship and me in the one behind. Yep, I am stilled afraid of it and couldn't bring myself to take my rocket all the way up. It feels like you are going to fall out to me. She on the other hand loved it (and her and dad kept their ship up high) so looks like out rope drop in Nov will include this early on. The views are great but I was afraid to have my camera out. I am a klutz.

We ride it whenever there is little to no line... and I mean, when there is just 3 or 4 people waiting at the elevators.

As far as being Dumbo up high, yes but it feels like it goes faster. I get that scared feeling in my stomach when the ride is at max, and it feels like you can go flying off if you're not holding on tight. However, that feeling goes away when you raise the rocket up at an angle so you're tilted towards the inside. It is a nice time up high.
