I am the worst about virus protection and am wondering if that's what's happened to my computer. A few months ago my computer started freezing, doing the this program has peformed an illegal opperation thing and then finally it died. At first when I called HP they said it could be my AOL 7.0 so I had to do a complete disk recovery which erased EVERYTHING except what my computer came with. I lost a lot because there were so games on the computer and files that I can't get back. The recovery was supposed to clean up everything, well I am STILL getting the error drive messages and my computer goes into scan disk everytime I log on, it has never found anything so I just skip it now, but I"m wondering if all of this isn't the result of a virus. I've asked hubby to have someone come checkout the computer because we really can't afford a new system right now, the one we have is only 2 years old, just. Suggestions? And since I really think I need to get better at the virus protection thing, what's the best out there?
