...I find myself over here looking for advice and/or support. This has been going on ever since the WISH board began.

Every 6 months or so, I INTEND to make big changes but here I am - now at the highest weight I have EVER been. Even when pregnant, I was never this heavy. I've GOT to do something. I look like crap. I feel like crap. I need to get under control.

And as I type that, it immediately points the way for me to Weight Watchers. Because whenever I do WW, I do feel in control. So I am really leaning that way to go to start this journey. Nearly 20 years ago, I lost 57 pounds with WW. I was feeling good and looking better than I had ever looked. And as I recall, after some time on the program, I do not remember feeling deprived. It all worked. I was committed (and this was over a couple year span.)

But now, nearly 20 years later, I wonder if I can do it? Will I be committed? Will it work?

I need your help WISHers. Any encouragement would be greatly appreciated. And if you have thoughts on any other programs, I would love to hear them. I am aiming to start this thing on Monday. The first day of Lent for us Eastern Catholics and a good time to get myself under control.

Thanks for listening. :)

 Beth! Welcome back to WISH once again. I am a WWer and I firmly believe in the program and the results it gives if you commit yourself. It is all about making a commitment to yourself, because on any program you chose if you aren't serious than the program won't work. It sounds like you are ready for a change and all I can say is WW is excellent, especially when combined with the meetings and the great people here on WISH. Good luck in your quest for good health and feeling great!

Hi Tiggerlover!

Thanks for the warm (re)Welcome. :) I just signed up for the WW monthly pass. Maybe I am doing things backwards since I haven't gone to a meeting yet, but I wanted to get started tomorrow and I don't want to go to a class until later this week.

I am trying to navigate the WW site. Do you use it? I am finding it a little hard to get things set up right now, but I have only spent a few minutes there. I am so tired - I will take time tomorrow to look around more thoroughly.

I was looking for a Food Diary and a Points calculator, and something to tell me how many points I get, etc. I haven't found that yet, but I will, I'm sure.

OK - off to bed. Tomorrow is the beginning for me...Wish me luck! :)

Welcome Back Beth!

I am so happy that you are not giving up the fight. Yes, fight it may be for a time, but never give it up. You are the only one that can make the commitment to to this for you. It seems like you are ready and determined.

I can't add any help with the WW thing. There is a thread hear with many members that may help.

Keep at it and let us know what's happening with you.

You WILL do this. You CAN.

Hi Beth and welcome back to WISH!

I could have written so many parts of your post myself. Can't tell you how many times I've started gung-ho on the WISH thread...complete with journal and joining challenges...but never followed through. I know the shape that I'm in and what it will take to get me to a healthier point in life, but I just kept making excuses. I'll start next Monday...I'll start on the 1st of the month...I'll start on New Year's Day. There was always something, and I began to think that I just was incapable of the commitment weight loss would take.

I finally bit the bullet on January 22nd, and now I know there's just no looking back for me. I'm not getting any younger, and the weight is getting more difficult to take off, I'm afraid. I've lost 8.5 pounds, and I've promised myself that I'll exercise 30 minutes a day 5 days a week. So far so good...and the payoff is already happening.

All this rambling is to say that most of us have "been there, felt that way too". You can do this, but it's going to take time. Set goals, be realistic (big problem for me), and reward yourself!

I'm doing WW without meetings, following the Turn Around program as it was before the latest update. I'm not sure of the details of the new program, but the one I follow gives a daily point target, 35 extra points to allocate throughout the week as desired and points for exercise. The points target I have is 20 pts for less than 150 lbs, 22 pts for 150-174, 24 pts for 175-199, 26 pts for 200-224, 26 pts for 225-249, 30 pts for 250-274, 31 pts for 275-299, 32 pts for 300-324, 33 pts for 325 to 349 and 34 pts for 350 or more lbs.

Check out http://www.dwlz.com for points at most every restaurant you can imagine. There are also several WW threads on WISH that have lots of support and information.

I'm sending good thoughts your way! :wizard: You can do anything you set your mind to! :cheer2:

Oh THANK YOU everyone for your warm welcome back! :) I am ready to go, I just have to figure out a meeting day and how to work the WW website. :badpc: I just have to spend time playing around.

I will be sure to spend lots of time there and here.

Thanks again for all of your words of encouragement and support! You guys are the best! :thumbsup2

 Beth.

Some of the parts of the WW website are protected until you are a paid member and have access. Once you have your access you really do need to take some time to navigate all there is on there. I use the weight tracker, the points calculator, food find and the recipe builder. I have tried the response boards, but I just like the feel over here at WISH better. Once in a while I will stumble upon some useful hints there.

luvmy2sams, the point targets you have posted are the old targets, now there is a little "quiz" that you take to see what your points are. It is based on many factors, one is your current weight and also how active you are. According to your chart I am supposed to be at 22 points, according to the quiz I am at 21 points and once I go down 2 more pounds I am supposed to drop to 20 points. With all that said, I am still eating 24 points because my leader said as long as I am still losing there is no reason to go down in points until I am at a 2-weeks standstill.

Good luck to everyone. This is a hard journey, but it is well worth the trip!

I did sign up for the monthly pass so I was able to access the entire site since Sunday evening. But I was just not seeing things then.

Yesterday I was able to spend more time and found the points tracker and the points calculator on it. I have already entered a couple of new foods. I think that I'm REALLY going to like that!

Now to choose a meeting date and go to my first Weigh In. :scared1:

I mentioned that the points were not from the latest program, but I thought I'd throw the info out there as an FYI until OP found her new information. :) I agree with what your leader said about not needing to change your point target unless you plateau. WW changes up their program from time to time, according to my old leader, to keep the lifetime members from getting bored. :confused3 When I decided to start back with WW, I didn't see the point in buying all new material when the old program worked successfully in the past.

BethR...glad that you were able to find your way around the website. It's a great tool! Good luck on your first weigh-in! :wizard:
