Has anyone been to the Everglades Natl Park and rented bikes or rode the tram? If so can you tell me about this? I was thinking glades airboat but wonder if this is a more natural way to experience the glades.

We would be doing this as a day trip from the Miami area... thinking of staying in Sunny Isles.

Thanks!:)

Sorry I can't help. Just wanted to say that this is another reminder to me that we live in one of the greatest vacation areas in the US and we don't take advantage of it. I live right by the Everglades. I've never done anything other than drive through on my way to Naples. And we don't go to the beach. Sad isn't it? I really need to make a plan to take advantage of where we live. Let me know how it is if you go.

Going on an airboat is a really great way to get to see the Everglades. The drivers know the best spots and are able to point out animals that you might not notice otherwise. Getting to see alligators come up close to the airboat is fun for the kids!

We have made several trips to Shark Valley Visitors Center in the Everglades. The tram is a good way to get your first experience, but it is on a schedule. Bikes & walking are the best way to go at your own speed.

When will you be visiting? We usually go around the Christmas holidays (dry season) so the heat, humidity and insects are not a problem. I can send a link to some pictures if you want to see them; send a PM if interested.

Hope you enjoy your trip!

Thank you. Planning ahead for next year (we are just back 2 weeks ago from Disney :sad1:). Probably visiting the first week of April next year. Would insects be bad yet in early April? I read they can be fierce in the summer at Shark Valley.

Someone on another website sent me a link to a video about the Shark Valley tram and bike rentals. I know the airboat would have the speed and fun but the tram or bikes looks like a nice way to see the nature. Maybe we will do both?
