Did they change Everest in the last 3 years? On our trip earlier this month, we rode it 9 times- and the part where they pause before going backwards didn't show the actual "torn up tracks". It just looked like we could have gone over a hill but didn't. I figured it had been changed, but today Disney posted a meme with a picture of those tracks...so what's up?

They are currently removed as part of a light refurb they are doing on the ride. There' also lots of scaffolding up on the backside of the mountain. Not sure when it will be back but I'm sure it will be.

I was there last week and the track was back. I had just finished telling my son it was gone and then we got there and it was back up. This was on Tuesday of last week.

Does the refurb involve doing anything with the Yeti besides changing the bulb on his strobe light?

We don't know as they haven't released any information. My gut tells me probably not, but it would be great if they did :thumbsup2

Disco Stu sez....no Yeti for you! :dancer:

Sorry if this is a silly question, but have the animatronics in the yeti ever been fixed? Last time we went (~3 yrs ago) it was not, and I haven't seen any info lately one way or the other.

No, it would require EE to shutdown to fix for months. They have to completely redesign the base of the Yeti and would probably have to remove a large chunk of the side of the mountain to fix it.

As a part of the recent refurb, there are less gum wads and hair ties at the mountain top. As others have said, the tracks are back, there are new prayer flags hung, and my favorite, the bird now flies up again. Missed that a lot, the disco yeti actually doesn't bother me that much, but I really missed the stupid bird!:)

HUH? I've been going since 2009. I don't ever remember the tracks NOT being there. Didn't know they were removable. Guess it was temporary.

I never got to ride EE while the yeti worked. In fact, the first year I rode it, I never saw him. I knew he was there but couldn't find him. This past trip, I was told where to look and he scared the #*)# out of me! I don't think I noticed him on my 2nd ride though. :confused3
