Everest DVC opening-Who's going?

Ah yes, I remember those days of ds being 43.75" and a real ride nut. He wanted so bad to go on this one ride that had a 44" requirement. Then, out of nowhere, some paper towel made it under his heel inside his running shoes and "LIKE A MIRACLE", he made it on the ride.

That is too funny! I just bought my DD some platform sneakers because she is 39 1/4" and she has been wanting to get on splash mtn for years. (ok, so I can't wait for her to go on it too :rotfl: ) She is 5 years old and her 3 1/2 year old cousin has been tall enough to go on for a year!

Poor kid, she got short genes :confused3

We are flying down to get a peek at the new ride.

DVC members showing the membership card get a gift too!

We've been booked for months for 1/22 through the 29th. It's pure pixie dust that the Everest testing is during that time! Yeah! That makes up for Test Track being closed :sad

We can't wait!!!

We'll be landing at MCO at 10:30am on 1/29, checking into VWL and making a bee line to AK. We have been booked since Oct. so I guess we are really lucky to be able to try EE. In April we were lucky enough to try Soaring as well! Can"t wait!

my Christmas present from Southwest Airlines: $39 each way from BWI to Orlando. I have a studio at OKW for the weekend.

Where is the "sneak preview" info posted?

TIA,

It was in a Vacation Magic email. I have pasted below the portion on the EE preview

Preview Expedition Everest™
Members are invited to take a sneak "peak" at Expedition Everest — Legend of the Forbidden Mountain™ Jan. 26-29, 2006, at Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park.
The new thrill attraction, opening officially in April, sends Guests on a high-speed train adventure into the Himalayas for a face-to-muzzle encounter with the legendary Yeti.
Each Member who presents his/her Disney Vacation Club Member ID during the sneak "peak" event may enjoy this preview with as many as three Guests. As an added bonus, you and your Guests will each receive a complimentary Expedition Everest lanyard and pin (limit one set per person during the four-day event). Disney's FASTPASS® service will be also be available during the preview.
Get ready for the Yeti!

We will be their from Jan 26-30. We are staying at POR though. We used up all our points but got $79 a night then I booked $39 each way airfare. Throw in Everest and this is looking like a great trip planned.

BTW, do we have to make reservations or can we just show up for the preview.

I just have to ask....how did you get $79/night??? Was it the AP Rate?

We'll be there :goodvibes . Super quick trip arriving late on 1/27 and returning late on 1/30. Just needed to go to WDW and when we found out that EE was previewing we couldn't resist! No points left for this trip but we got a decent rate for POR for that weekend....couldn't justify overspending. ALMOST went with POP but decided to upgrade to mod. Unfortunately we couldn't get the AP rate b/c it was less than 60 days in advance :(.

Anyway....we are just SOOO excited to be going. :cool1:

I believe this is also open to passholders for the same time frame.

I am a little bummed because we are staying at BVW for 4 nights from 1/30 thru 2/3. I do not think we can make it a day earlier to see EE but I am going to try and work it out.

Has this every been done before? Do any of you know how they will do it? Will it be like a fast pass type of "come back between time and time" or do you think it will be a wait on line kind of thing? We will be driving down to arrive around lunch time on the 29th and don't know if we should check into the room first (and shower :rotfl2: ) or head straight to AK so we don't miss it.

At the Soarin preview Fast Pass was not available on the day we were there. However, the announcement says that Fast Pass will be available at the Everest preview. It's hard to say how the ratio of fast passes to standby will be set up, but just having it available will be great.

At 34 passengers per train, it should have a high hourly capacity.

The info I heard from MS was that Fast Pass will be available but they don't know the hours yet. According to Joe Rhode, the Imagineer in charge of AK the Queue area's for the Fast Pass & Stand-by are totally different experiences so they should both be checked out by the guests. I got to see a peek of the entrance area when I was down in October & it looks really great. I can't wait. I didn't get the newsletter because my profile got messed up on the member website. I'm waiting for the newsletter to be posted on the website. I'm arriving early 1/26 & heading home 1/30, staying at SSR for the first time since eveything else was booked.

We'll be there! I was just doing a happy dance because we got to book at BCV and then I saw the email about EE. This might be our best trip ever!

To all going congrats, wish I could go. I'm going the end of Feb maybe a soft opening I hope. If not I'll have to wait until May. :Pinkbounc

I could only go if I could go for free. I used next years points for a studio at SSR, Used miles for a free air ticket. Used Amex points for free car rental, I have a 1 gallon paint can almost full of loose change to cash in for food and expense money, and I will finally use my collection of 3 park hoppers (that are all mine from over the years) that have a day left on them. Who says you can't go to WDW without spending extra money? :cool1:

We are going too! We are taking our DS down for the Spring Advantage college program. He checks in on Feb. 1 so we booked a studio at OKW (our first DVC stay!) for Jan. 28-Feb 1. :sunny:

I wasn't busy at work and so I was checking out the Disney sites. I forgot all about the EE preview, but we were able to put together a nice mini vacation and we will be at Saratoga Springs 1/25 - 1/28. Life is great!

OOh, I didn't think about using spare change to pay for food. :-) I'm going down just for the day Thursday, staying with a friend and using a annual pass, now you've solved my meal dilema. Thanks. :earsboy:
