I need to use some points and will probably use them for the CC. My husband and I can't decide where to use them or to take a Dis Cruise instead in November. The points have to be used by the end of Nov. so if anyone has any input I would love to hear it. Thanks.:)

I used them at the Arizona Biltmore last Sept. It was very nice, although, I don't feel like we actually spent enough time there between late check-in and early check-out.

My mom has used hers at a few CCs. Boston Harbor, Shelburn Murray Hill, somewhere inSF I think.

It's very easy to book, just remember there is a $100 charge.

good luck.

You are on the other side of the country from us but we have used them at the Sagamore in upstate New York. The points were very easy to use and the sagamore was an excellent place for us and our kids.

We've used points to stay at the Grove Park Inn (Asheville, NC). Great resort, nice spa and lots to do in the area. The points used were a good deal compared to the hotels rates at that time.

It's probably a little too far to drive from Fresno, however! ;)

There are some good deals in the Concierge Collection- especially if you can't use the points for DVC and can't bank them. Make sure you make your reservations prior to the last 60 days of your Use Year- as you can't use DVC points for non-DVC options to reserve and travel within the last 60 days. (You can use them to travel during that time, but can't make the reservation during that time.)

The White Swan in San Francisco has gotten many great reviews. I'm sure you can find someplace to use your points - you can also use them for some DL Hotels.

Enjoy!

You might want to consider the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. It's a wonderful old resort, and the city has plenty to interest a tourist.

Shutters on the Beach, Santa Monica, CA...

(did it as part of a So.Cal. trip... several nights on points at Disneyland Grand Calif. and then a couple nights on the beach in Santa Monica...)

It was a wonderful splurge and the entire room had a view of the ocean... including the bathroom (room similar to a 1-bdrm at BWV w/ jacuzzi tub)...

I used points for 8 nights at the Mauna Lani resort on the Big Island. It was a fabulous experience. But that's probably not where you're looking to go on short notice. :teeth:

We used points to spend a night at the American Club in Kohler, Wisconsin. We got adequate value for our points, were treated like royalty, and enjoyed ourselves.

is using the points a good deal or is it better just to pay with cash? I know using points to stay at Disney Resorts is not a good deal

My wife and I spent 3 or 4 nights at the White Swan in San Francisco, and besides the tour of Wine Country, I think the hotel was the best part of the trip. The points we used seemed reasonable, and we would definitely stay there again if we ever go back.

We stayed at the Stein Erickson for 5 nights from 8/2-8/7 for 27 points each night and we thought that this was a great use of our points. You do not have a kitchen but you do have a coffee maker. The staff is so willing to get whatever you need. They are constantly asking if you need water for where ever that you are going. We felt that this was a nice touch especially when we were driviving back to the airport to go home!:bounce:

Are these points in the holding account. if so here are the rules.

1. You can't book more than 60 days from check-in

2. In the last 60 days of your use year you can book only DVC
rooms

If December is your use year and you have to use them by Nov 30 your 60th day is Oct 1.

I know we are cutting it short, but that is all I can do while waiting to close. We hope to be in the system by the end of the week, but since we are already going to Disneyworld, and have it booked then I would like to try going somewhere else. We are considering a DCL but it would have to be in Nov. Just waiting to see what is available. If anyone would like to see if the Mauna Lani has any availability in the beginning of Nov. I would appreciate it. Thanks.:)

Are these points in holding, current or banked status?

Holding points have to be used as outlined in my previous post.

If banked I believe the last 60 days rule applies as in holding, however you can book anytime.

If current year points you can bank a percent of the total points bought. I don't have rules at hand now, but you cannot bank anything the last 2 months of your use year. You are either in the 50 or 25 percent window now.

If this is a new contract with Disney they may allow you to bank everything.

We used them for a night or two at the Shelburne Murray Hill in NYC. We do this occassionally when we see a play in Times Square.
