Ever try to get decal off of clothing?

DD has a jacket that has the name of our town on the back of it that we would like to remove. I googled how to remove decal from clothing and tried using a hot iron with a handkerchief over the decal. It lifted some of the decal off but not much. Anyone ever have success doing this, please share your tips?

That was going to be my suggestion. Sorry I have always had to find ways to get the numbers to stay on the jersey not take one off. Good Luck, sorry I am not much help.
