Ever noticed lights on at the treehouses on the POR boats to DTD!

For the last two years we have stayed at POR and POFQ. As we take the boat to DTD we pass the abandoned treehouse villas. One of the villas has a patio light on at all times. I thought this was kinda weird, unless the boat drivers use it for a point of reference at night.

Anyone else noticed this?

Yep, we noticed. We passed by the treehouses, they looked mysterious and peaceful. The ferry pilot explained what they were, and that the lights were left on for security reasons. DH and I looked at each other, both thinking that was the perfect place to stay next time we came... then the pilot told us they are closed indefinitely! Too bad...

We noticed the light on when we stayed at POR in May/June. I know the reason they give for not tearing those treehouses down, but the scenery would sure be nicer without them...

While on the ferry to DTD the driver said they keep the lights on "to keep the 2 legged beasts at bay." Apparently they were having trouble with vandals. He also said that they were going to be used as housing for the second year college program next year. Not sure how accurate this is but that is what we were told.

We used to stay at the Fairway villas all the time when I was younger. When taking buses to the parks, we'd go thru the Treehouse also. The area was really nice, and so were the villas. I'm surprised they closed them...I think a lot of people would still stay there.

We just heard last week that they are using the treehouses as dorms for the collage program kids. They are using the lighting and electricity and all to run the air and all so they don't have to replace everything as it would be musty and old if there was no air and all. As for the lights on at night, I'm not sure.
