My 15 year old keeps asking me:

Does the Wonder have....?

He got spoiled on the Fantasy 3 years ago & now he's disappointed. He also had the look of the Vibe from the Fantasy in his head & was looking forward to his 1st time in there. Just turned 15. He said I'm not going there. This is a kid that we had to drag from every level of club on his previous cruises. We're baffled.

I'm just wondering if anyone ever had this experience. THANKS!

No, my kids prefer the Magic to the Fantasy - better water slide and fewer crowds at Castaway Cay! It would be nice if the smaller ships had the Midship Detective Agency, mini golf and sports simulator, but as pp said, they are pretty happy to be able to go on any cruise.

Nope, my DD prefers Magic, then Wonder and then Fantasy, least excited about the Dream. But just mention a cruise, you can't keep her away.

Maybe it's because he's at that age of growing up where everyone else in our party is an adult & he's only 15. I tried to find another teen boy for him in our DIS meet group, but no luck. He wouldn't communicate w/ a teen girl. :goodvibes

Or maybe he's a tad spoiled but since this will probably be out last DCL cruise for at least 10+ years, I was a little sad to see some of his disappointment. I know it will probably be fine once we're onboard.

Why is it our last DCL cruise for at least 10 years? DCL has priced itself out of this middle class family's budget. Thank goodness we bought DVC in '99 so we'll always have WDW. We can only cruise during the summer because I'm a teacher & we're not allowed to take any personal time during the school year except for 2 days NOT connected to any regularly scheduled holiday weekends.

It's a bittersweet feeling going on this cruise. :upsidedow:worried:

I haven't experienced this YET, but we're heading on the Wonder this September and I'm worried we will. We've only done Dream and Fantasy and it's definitely a concern of mine. Actually, I'm a little worried I'll feel the same way, I LOVE the Aquaduck! But, at least I'll be on a ship so I'm sure everything will be ok.

Yes! Our first 3 cruises were Dream/Fantasy, last cruise was Magic. The kids really missed the detective agency and mini golf. Combined that with the awful pool hours (we had late dining, pool was closed from 6 to 8, then done for the night at 10), we definitely did not have the same level of satisfaction :(

We'll do one more, Alaska on the Wonder (only because we can drive to port) and I think we're done with Disney cruising...

My nearly 6yo liked the Magic better! You never know until you try it.

Do all the pools close from 6-8? We'll be on the Magic in November and have late dining as well. We didn't have a choice, but I figured that the silver lining is that we'd have some uncrowded pool time while most kids were at the early seating!

No. My boys both enjoyed Vibe more on the classic ships than the newer ones. They've both been on all 4 ships. That said, my 17 yro has his choice for vacation next spring for his graduation celebration. He's being very indecisive. He's not as sure what he wants as he is what he doesn't want. "I do NOT want to go on another Disney cruise and I do NOT want to visit any Disney parks." o_O Well alrighty then.

That's what we were hoping for too :(. It was the main pool that was closed, the little knee-height one was open (and full of bigger kids, I guess the smaller kids were at main/earlier dinner). We recently moved to the West Coast so have a three hour time difference. We thought we'd be able to do some fun evening stuff but even the adult pool and hot tub closed at 10. We were not impressed and wrote it on the comment card, but never heard anything back.
