Every time we go, I always prep my self with a good pair of shoes so that I don't get blisters. But each year it never works. I think this time I'll get the new shoes at least 3 months in advance so they break in and then add some Dr. Schols inserts with the gell in them.

Any thoughts?

I would recommend always breaking in your walking shoes before using them for a visit to WDW (or anywhere else for that matter). As a former soccer player, I can tell you that we always coated the inside of new shoes with vaseline the first few times wearing them. It sounds yucky, but it really helps to prevent blisters.

The best one I have ever gooten was somebody from this board who told us to use duct tape. Yep, duct tape. I bought the pruple kind and used it where ever I usually get blisters. (I usually get blisters inside blisters by the second day) I went 7 days into the parks and let me tell you we walked and walked. I cam ehome with a very small pin hole blister on the side of my big toe. (One day I didn;t check on break how my feet were doing so didn;t have tape there) This was a miracle to me and I sure enjoyed my trip sooo much more since I could walk without whimpering! :cloud9:

Yup, I always end up with blisters. I've tried old shoes, new shoes, wide shoes, skinny shoes, expensive shoes, cheap shoes, sneakers, sandals, etc, etc, (you get the picture). I still end up with blisters. I tried vaseline, spray deodorant, moleskin, bandaids, and still get blisters.

The only thing that helps some is using the moleskin the second anything feels uncomfortable. I think some of us are just doomed to have blisters.

DH walks around in whatever he happens to grab that day and never has a problem.

I always got them until I bought New Balance shoes. I had never heard about them, but someone on the Budget Dis board mentioned them. They worked for both my DH and for me.

Before that, it happened every time. I never heard of the duct tape idea. I would guess covering your foot in the places you get blisters should help because then the shoe is rubbing against the tape rather than the foot.

I always read all the threads on blisters because I always get them!!!

Here's a great (long) thread with many tips on how to prevent blisters: Blister thread

Tips that I've learned/read here:

Wear comfortable, well fitted, well worn shoes. Alternate your shoes. Bring at least 2 pairs.

Buy socks that reduce moisture like Cool Max and that fit well.

Wear really comfortable walking shoes or sandals...I love my Ecco Cosmos!!

Bring pre-cut Moleskins to prevent the blisters. You put it on the hot spots.

Bring some Bodyglide or Avon's anti-blister balm or BlisterShield to put on your hot spots and it can prevent the blister AND chafing. Here's a thread on these products: Bodyglide/Blistershield thread

Bring bandaids or corn protectors for existing blisters.

Bring pain killers to reduce the pain and swelling.

Bring a peppermint spray or cream for your aching feet! It feels great!

Soak your feet every night if you can (then put the peppermint cream on!)

Some say to try anitpersperant ...didn't work for me.

Some say try duck tape...not for me.

Some say vaceline between the toes...I've never tried it but I'll bet it helps reduce friction.

I did not get blisters on my last trip and it was the first time. I think it's because I wore my comfortable walking sandals the whole week (no socks or sneakers), I used moleskins on any hot spots, I soaked my feet every night, I put the peppermint cream on my feet every night, I took Motrin every day, and I put Bodyglide on my feet every morning before I put my sandals on.

Good luck!

We went in April and I got blisters where I never have had them before. So this trip coming up in December will have to do something about that. But I would take a blister caused by walking in Disney World any day.

Thanks everyone...

this past year was better for me than before, but sill bad.

I've tried the moleskin and it reduced some, but not all of the blisters.

My plans now include the following:

1. Buy lightweight cooling sneakers 3 months ahead of time to break in.

2. Go to podiatrist to see if some inserts would help

3. Buy Running socks

4. Find Body Glide and bathe in it (just a joke)
